KABUL: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday declined an invitation to visit Pakistan, his deputy spokesman confirmed, saying he would not visit the neighbouring country until perpetrators of recent attacks in Afghanistan are not handed over.

Ghani's deputy spokesman said the president turned down the invitation during his meetings with Pakistani delegates, the BBC reported.

"I will not go to Pakistan until Islamabad hands over perpetrators of Mazar Sharif, American University Kabul and Kandahar attacks to Kabul," the spokesman quoted Ghani as saying.

The Afghan president also demanded action against Afghan Taliban present in Pakistan, an accusation Islamabad has repeatedly denied.

However, neither the Foreign Office of Pakistan nor military officials have so far reacted to turning down of the invitation by President Ghani.

Pakistan has long been saying that its soil is not being used against any country including Afghanistan.

Islamabad has also time and again apprised the Afghan government of terrorist attacks being coordinated from its territory against Pakistan.

Earlier this year, Pakistan was hit by five deadly terrorist attacks in a week. The attacks were claimed by outlawed Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, which operates with impunity on the Afghan soil.

They followed nearly a month's closure of Pak-Afghan border and an intense military campaign to wipe out all terrorists from the country.

Thank God he is not coming! He is no one anyway and certainly no one to tell Pak what to do. We all know it is RAW and Pak Taliban using his war zone as a hide out to attack Pakistan.

Pretty cheap from both countries should unite and fight terrorism together rather than spreading terrorism to the other country.. If you train terrorists on your soil ultimately you will face terrorism yourself as seen in the case of Pakistan, I never understood why sub continent leaders work together and eradicate terrorism from their soil? It would be beneficial for everyone and even if some people protest in Pakistan against taking Indian help to combat terrorism when terrorism dies the next generation would remember the leaders fondly..

But I guess it's very easy to blame the others and hide your own flaws..

When Ghani came to power he reversed Hamid Karzai's pro India stance and reached out to Pakistan. He even went as far as cancelling various defence deals with India.

However the rapprochement with Islamabad never materialised and his flirtations with the Pak military and ISI brought greater misery to Afghanistan so one can hardly blame him for his current stance.

How very convenient of Mr Ghani to once again blame Pakistan. Majority of Afghan territory is already occupied by Taliban, they don't need Pakistani land, and there is a reason why Pakistan has been continuously reducing terrorism within its border while Afghanistan falls further into it. Ghani can kick and scream all he wants but at the end of the day is is up to Afghanistan to fight and not put blame on others for your situations.

So Ghani is now publically claiming he was invited but turned down the invitation and using the same old rhetoric of Pakistan being responsible for the Afghan Taliban getting stronger as his excuse for turning down the invitation.

It's his way of sending a message to the Western public, who's tired of still spending billions of tax dollars, pounds and euros every year after more than 16 years of doing the same, and having had thousands of it's forces killed or maimed in the process of propping up the Afghan government. He's hoping that this way he can maintain the status quo, 'cause if the Western forces leave completely, his government will disappear within few days and the Taliban will be back in full control.
