What's new

Go on Kaptaan - Time to invoke the Cornered Tigers spirt!

It seems that Army will form an agreement between opposition and imran Khan to call early election and cancel the no vote confidence. This will be face saving for Imran and meet the onjectives of three thugs.

IK should not take that deal. He should go into opposition and focus on removing the lotas from his party, and start preparing for the next election.

it doesnt work that way.

Elections cant happen because pti doesbt have the number.

Also, the whole reason of doing this vote of no confidence from a political perspective was that, in our politics, the govt releases development funds in the last year. Pti also didnt release those funds.

What the opposition will do is after getting the ministeries, they will release funds, do public service and than use that as their election campaign.

You guys are reading too much into dumb surveys with elections happening now than flana will win. Pakistani politics doesnt work like that.

The last year of the government is always crucial due to release of funds.

Pti would have to do a campaign dharna style, while ppp and pmln will only have to use the funds to do work and than use those assignments as a msrketing tool saying look we got you such facility in your area.

And the work they did in Pakistan in 35 years of their tenure speaks for itself specifically in Sind. Indeed, Pakistani politics doesn’t work like that. It takes a special kind of a badniyat and plunderer to flourish in politics of Pakistan . Jiyay Bhutto!!!

IK needs a break. Maybe he should take a vacation and come back afresh. He needs to look into his party and do some soul searching. I fear he will meet the same ending as Bhutto because once the Americans blacklist you, you are done.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will address the nation today evening, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said on Thursday.

Separately, in a tweet, PTI Senator Faisal Javed Khan said that time of the address will be revealed later.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid, in a brief media talk, termed tomorrow and the day after as "important" and reiterated that prime minister would "fight till the last ball".

The prime minister was originally expected to address the nation yesterday, however, the address was postponed without providing any reason.

The development comes as the prime minister is facing a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly. Yesterday, the MQM-P — the government's main ally in the Punjab and in the Centre — announced that it would support the joint opposition in the no-trust resolution.

The MQM-P has seven seats in the NA and after its decision to part ways with the government, the opposition has gathered the support of 177 MNAs, five more than the 172 required to gain a majority.

In the face of the opposition's onslaught, PM Imran has also made allegations of a "foreign conspiracy" being responsible for efforts to oust him.

At a public meeting held on Sunday, the premier had pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and waved it at the crowd, claiming it was evidence of an “international conspiracy” being hatched to topple his government.

On Wednesday, this letter was shared with members of the federal cabinet in a hurriedly called meeting, which was not attended by the MQM-P and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) despite being invited. The letter was shown to the cabinet members on a TV screen.

PM Imran also called a selected group of TV anchors and informed them that "the language of the letter was threatening and arrogant" and that Pakistan would face dire consequences if the no-confidence motion failed.

However, the premier did not show the letter to the media.

Dissolve the National Assembly and call for early elections.

Elections in 2023 will be a disaster for PTI with the new CJP coming in.

“Vote on the no-confidence motion will be held this Sunday [April 3]… On coming Sunday it will be decided in which direction this country will go,” he said while addressing the nation on Thursday.

“I will not resign and will fight till the last ball,” he added.

The premier while terming the no-trust move as the “foreign-backed conspiracy” to topple his government said that the nation will not forgive those lawmakers who will vote against him in the lower house of parliament.

“People should see those people [lawmakers] who will ‘sell their conscience’ on Sunday,” said the premier while warning the parliamentarians that the coming generations will never forget them if they voted against him.

“I will never let this conspiracy to succeed come what may.”

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said on Friday that a plot to assassinate Prime Minister Imran Khan has been reported by the country's security agencies.

The minister took to his official Twitter handle to reveal that following these reports, the government has decided to “beef up” the premier’s security.

The information minister’s remarks come days after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda claimed that a plan was being hatched to assassinate the prime minister, as political tensions rise owing to the no-trust motion to oust the latter from power.

Reiterating the urgent need for amplified security, ruling party leaders urged PM Imran to use bulletproof glass while addressing rallies.

According to minister Vawda, the prime minister had shrugged off the party’s concerns and said that "he will die when it is his time to die".

Commenting on the remarks, Vawda said, "PM Imran is a brave and courageous man; he won't compromise on Pakistan, neither will he allow the bowing of nation before anyone."

Sadly the truth is that Imran Khan's political career is over. Yes, it over! If ever he wins an election it will only be possible if he gets a majority...which unfortunately will never happen. And with what game has been played against him, he can't trust or will be a fool to form alliances with other parties. This parties will ditch him anytime and topple his government again. Plus, foreign powers will never be friends with him.

Now, even if he starts a struggle sitting in the opposition and mobilizing the masses...that too will not be easy because as soon as he is out of power the joint opposition will pile up cases against him and take their REVENGE.

With what has being going on in the last few weeks and especially how MQM-P has played it cards... I'm a bit surprised that the people especially from Karachi didn't came out in the streets to protest. If it was another strong developed/independent country, the people would have been in the streets. What sort of democracy is Pakistan.

A day after Prime Minister Imran Khan said he is paying the price for pursuing an independent foreign policy, he revealed that the country was threatened with “dire consequences” by a foreign power if the no-confidence against the incumbent government fails.

“They order us…if the no-confidence motion [against PM Imran] does not succeeded then there would be dire consequences,” Imran said referring to the foreign power.

“Can anyone send such threats to a country,” he said, calling it tantamount to interference in internal affairs.

“How can a country can interfere in the affairs of an independent state,” Imran asked as he delivered an address at the Islamabad Security Dialogue.

“But [we cannot] not blame them, as it is our fault because we gave them this impression,” he added.

The premier stated it was being said that Pakistan could not upset the US, but India due to its independent foreign policy was buying oil from Russia. “The US says it cannot say anything to India due to its independent foreign policy,” Imran said, adding that despite being a US ally, India was fostering ties with Russia.

He said as per the US, India was a sovereign state, so “what are we then”. According to Imran, the absence of an independent foreign policy meant people’s interests could not be protected.

Terming an independent foreign policy crucial for the country, the premier said the reason why Pakistan could not reach its peak potential was due to the country's ‘dependency syndrome’.

“A country without an independent foreign policy remains unable to secure the interests of its people,” he added.

The premier further said that taking independent decisions while giving high priority to the interests of the nation was extremely important, rather than submitting to the will of other states in exchange for foreign aid.

Criticising the decisions of the previous governments to join foreign wars and the global war on terror, the prime minister said a nation could not progress if it remained dependent on foreign aid.

“These decisions, that incurred major damage to Pakistan, were made for the sake of dollars,” he said.

He pointed out that such detrimental policies resulted in the rise of sectarian militancy that disrupted the environment of investment and promoted illicit drugs and black money in the country.

The prime minister also regretted that no independent evaluation was made afterward to assess the damage suffered by the Pakistani society, and said “the elite filled up their bank accounts at the cost of the nation”.

Imran said his government, during the past four years, pursued an independent foreign policy that helped the country gain respect in the global arena.

He further maintained that national security was a multidimensional phenomenon and could be ensured when the state and nation were united with a single vision and ideology.

The premier said his government firmly believed that there was a symbiotic relationship between economic, human, and traditional security which was imperative for Pakistan’s long-term development.

He added that domestic stability and regional peace based on mutual co-existence, regional connectivity, and shared prosperity were essential prerequisites to optimising national security.

'Foreign conspiracy'

A day earlier, PM Imran had said that he was paying the price in the shape of a “foreign conspiracy hatched by the United States” to topple the incumbent government through the opposition’s no-confidence motion for pursuing an “independent foreign policy”.

"On Sunday, there is voting [on a no-confidence motion]. The country's fate is about to be decided on Sunday… The nation will decide where they want the country led to," the prime minister had said in his address to the nation broadcast live on Thursday evening.

Premier Imran had said the people would always remember those who would be committing any treachery on Sunday as they would not buy their argument so easily.

PM Imran had addressed the nation hours after he chaired the meeting of the National Security Committee, which had termed the formal communication of a foreign country's official "blatant interference" in Pakistan's internal affairs and also decided to issue a demarche to that country.

He had told the nation that on March 7, the government received a message from that country through Pakistan's ambassador there, which said that they would pardon Pakistan's all misgivings if Imran Khan was ousted. If happened otherwise, Pakistan would have to face difficulties.

"This (message) is against the nation," he had said, adding that the message coming before the vote of confidence showed that the political opponents were in contact with that country.

"Is this our worth? … We are creeping like snails," he had remarked.

The prime minister had said the conspiracy was being hatched through three stooges in Pakistan. They wanted to oust Imran Khan and it would also be fine for that country, he added.

He had said Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif had opposed his "absolutely not" stance to join the US-led war anymore.

"Our public representatives are on sale. This is the trade of loyalties. This is the trade of country and its sovereignty. What lesson are we giving to our youth? No one will ever call them ideological. Everyone knows them," the prime minister had remarked.

No-confidence motion

The allegations leveled against the opposition by the prime minister came amid a no-confidence motion submitted against him.

As a result of intense political negotiations, the opposition also managed to convince two government allies, MQM-P and BAP, to switch sides. As a result, the prime minister has lost the majority in the lower house.

On Thursday, the PTI-led government "literally ran away from conducting voting on the no-confidence motion" submitted against PM Imran as the National Assembly session was once again put off till April 3.

Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri had adjourned the proceedings after seeing the strength of the opposition parties’ lawmakers, who repeatedly asked him to hold voting on the motion instead of proceeding ahead with Q&A session.

I think you are not clear about what he is praising in terms of the India policy - which aspect etc.

There is a different thread on that - go there and explain your point of view.

Amen

On the eve of the no-confidence vote in National Assembly, a visibly confident Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday assured lawmakers belonging to his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party of victory in the much-awaited contest in the lower house of parliament.

He also fired a fresh salvo at the joint opposition leadership, saying that the United States wanted to bring its "slaves" to the government.

Addressing PTI parliamentarians at the PM House in Islamabad, he used the US's name multiple times, which, according to him, conspired against his government in order to remove him from the position of power.

The US's name until this point had been kept in the dark — barring a "mistake" during PM's address to the nation on Friday — due to diplomatic obligations but the PM Imran named the country on several occasions during his speech today.

"This game had been going on since October [last year] along with some traitors of this nation... I am straightforwardly naming the country today with which the opposition conspired and it is the United States," he said.

PM Imran alleged that the United States wanted a "slave" leadership in Pakistan that will not object to drone attacks and the killing of innocent Pakistanis.

"These shameless people will make a nation of 220 million a slave... they (opposition leaders) say [to the US] that they are their number one servant," he added.

The premier said that such documents are never handed over in writing but the United States did that and it is part of the official record now. "It says if you remove Imran Khan then relations with Pakistan will normalise... they know that 'cherry blossom' will be the next prime minister after Imran Khan," he said in an apparent reference to PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif.

Taking a jibe at Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz, PM Imran said that the one who had his sherwani ready for premiership does not know what is going to happen to him on Sunday.

"The match is not over till the last ball. I am not worried about tomorrow... God willing, we will emerge victorious," he said.

Lashing out at the dissenting PTI lawmakers, PM Imran said that he regretted that some people sold their consciousness. "Their pictures are being shared on social media. They're in hiding these days. I am thankful to the Almighty that he has exposed these people... I will feel ashamed even shaking hands with such people," he added.

The prime minister said that all opposition sought from him during the last three years was NRO (amnesty) which he will never give to them. "What they (opposition leaders) did was for democracy? or nation? No, it was only to get NRO... they want me to forget them but I will never do that," he added.

He said that PML-N's reputation had been badly tarnished in Punjab and challenged that the party will not be able to win in the province be it by-polls or general elections.

In his concluding remarks, the premier said that he will never forget those who stood by him during these testing times. "I always remember those who support me during difficult times... I am thankful to the Almighty that those who joined me only to make money were not around me anymore."

From this whole Saga, one thing has become clear to the world: who is the weaker leader and who is the strong one..

not even that he compromises on his main principles. Army is completely against him and tomorrow we are going to be witness big mess in the country. I am really hoping that nothing happens.
he is messing with Army and the consequences will be very bad for him. I think IK wants Marshal Law.
He is like if i am not getting to Bat then no one will.

I am no fan of Imran the politician, but i cannot support an elected leader being removed by an army.

IK must remember that there is a time to fight and a time to retreat and wait. Live today and fight another day.

sadly as far i know in last 30 years we never had any elected PM or Government.

I lurk on Twitter and a few places and the middle-class public from all walks of life is backing him in a big way. Twenty-year-old uni-going girls and boys who never ever mention politics are going full Imranist these days. A good change from the two-party system that we had in the past where people would get paid to attend political rallies. IK may or may not win but he has changed the game of politics in Pakistan entirely. How long the impact of this lasts, no one will ever be able to tell unless they are from the future.

Like I said ..he was installed by the establishment.now being removed by them..he never won a clear mandate..

Quotes from an article:
PTI’s path to power was red-carpeted by the establishment without much care for nuance or subtlety. Imran Khan began his stint as the prime minister with one hundred per cent support from the establishment, a luxury few leaders had enjoyed before. And yet, event by event, issue by issue, and policy by policy, the PTI leadership began to rack up completely avoidable irritants with the establishment that finally exploded into the open with the controversy over the appointment of the DG ISI. Everyone in the PTI knew that if there was one relationship that was responsible for bringing the party to power, it was this; and if there was one relationship that would be responsible for sustaining the PTI in power till 2023 and beyond, it was this. And yet the PTI leadership blew up this very relationship.

I am no fan of Imran the politician, but i cannot support an elected leader being removed by an army.

IK must remember that there is a time to fight and a time to retreat and wait. Live today and fight another day.

He is not going to let us down, he will fight.

He only had a narrow majority, and that too depended on alliance with smaller parties. You cant be that strong in that situation, especially once his own party members turned on him.

He seems confused on strategy in his final days and as a result acting contrary to his own saying..like praising India and Modi' s policy...what a sad thing for his supporters...

Their is no confusion on strategy. Instead of the next election being about the economy he is trying to make it about foreign policy. People were mad about the inflation however now to them he is taking siyasi shahadat due to foreign intervention. Also the praise was not for Modi but for India's foreign policy.

His popularity has definitely increased. I agree with the crowd in the Islamabad jalsa who were chanting agli bari phir Niazi.

"The people should decide what they want, not foreigners. Buying people's support with money has resulted in this (situation). Put that money into something better, for orphanages etc. I implore the nation to prepare for elections. You will decide the future of this nation, not foreigners or corrupt people," Mr Khan said in his address.

Fighting to the last ball!

Interestingly, this cornered tiger tamasha started in the 1987 world cup which was imrans third world cup and we lost. He packed the shirt back in his bag and took it out again in 1992. Ironically, he wasnt suppose to play that world cup but zia requested him too.

It seems that gradually yet surely we are forgetting this "cornered tigers" rubbish. It is our people's obsession with Imran Khan that keeps bringing it up.

He is under the proverbial pump but we know he will fight to the end - HUGE test for Imran - if he comes through this No Confidence circus, he will be much stronger than before (and hopefully) would have learnt some lessons as well.

Go on Immy!

Another tournament, Another early set back but history is witness to the fact that no team in the history of ICC tournaments has ever recovered from early set backs as many times and in a grand fashion as Pakistan team. The whole tournament now becomes a knock out for team Pakistan. They pulled it off in 2017 in similar fashion. Can they do it ONE MORE TIME?

Bhai talent to hae.
But all about intent.

Yesterday Babar bhai broke hearts by his negative batting. If they had played positively they would have chased it down.

Fielding is the only thing that is permanently poor in Pakistan team but I said it before the tournament Pakistan’s batting is underrated. You have a deep batting line up and a lot of shot makers . They just need to play a brave brand of cricket

So true.
If young Imran lead this team, they would have more success than what Imran had with his original teams.

It’s all about mentality.
Whatever is happening in this Pakistan team is criminal right now. Babar Azam cannot just shrug it off what he did yesterday bro.
