By 2025 where do you see the Pakistan cricket team stand in terms of:
1) there icc rankings and overall ability to compete to with other top teams.
2) The core players present in the test,t201 and odi squads.
3) The 3 premier bowlers and batsmen alongside the main wicket keeper and alrounder.
4) Pakistans results in the two t201 world cups as well as the odi world cup and the two test championships.
5)do you see cricket completely returning to Pakistan on a regular basis.

By 2025 where do you see the Pakistan cricket team stand in terms of:
1) there icc rankings and overall ability to compete to with other top teams.

Tests and ODIs:

6th or 7th

T20Is:

Maybe top 4 because Pakistan plays too many soft bilateral matches against underpowered sides.

The ranking also reflects the capacity to compete with the top sides which will remain very low.

Pakistan will continue to lose the vast majority of its Limited Overs matches against the top sides and will be a minnow level team in Test cricket outside Asia.

In terms of home Test performances, we should also expect a dip because the likes of England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa etc. will do better on the quicker Pakistani pitches than they did on the sluggish UAE ones.

2) The core players present in the test,t201 and odi squads.

Tests:

Babar (c), Imam, Haider, Rizwan, Shaheen

ODIs & T20Is:

Babar (c), Imam (ODIs), Haider, Rizwan (ODIs), Shaheen, Shadab (undeservingly, but this overrated bits n pieces is our blue eyed boy).

3) The 3 premier bowlers and batsmen alongside the main wicket keeper and alrounder.

Shaheen will be the only premier bowler. The other bowlers will struggle to cement their place because of injuries, poor form, weak mentality and other factors etc.

Babar, Haider and Imam will be the main batsmen, Rizwan will be the main WK and Shadab will be the main all-rounder (undeservingly so).

4) Pakistans results in the two t201 world cups as well as the odi world cup and the two test championships.

Failure in all.

5)do you see cricket completely returning to Pakistan on a regular basis.

Yes.

We would be exactly at the same place or worse if Misbah is still at the helm.
If Pakistan get the right coach and captain for the 3 formats, then I do see them taking atleast one of the two World T20Is. I do see them get into Semis in ODIs in India. Core players would include couple more additions specially in batting, such as Abdullah Shafiq. Test ranking I see them in top 5.

All of this, if Misbah is out and a right coach/captain due is incharge. To me Babar is not a good captain, and Misbah is much worse in coaching.

i think soon there will be 2 leagues for cricket.

big 3 and south africa plus maybe n.z

rest of the teams will be in the second tier league and compete to get into the big boy's elite league. i am kidding. calm down.

pakistan will be a good team in cup competitions. top4.
overall though in terms of league status and consistency probably 5th or 6th.

Cricket returning completely

Very interesting thread. It'll be cool to check in 5 years and see how wrong we all were.

1) 5th/6th. The big 3 will remain ahead, as will NZ and SAF.

2) Core players - Babar, Abdullah Shafique, Haider Ali, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, Shaheen

3) See above

4) No cups in any format. Big 3 will dominate.

5) Yes, excluding India, Australia, NZ and SAF.

Around the same, if not worse.

We have hopeless Misbah at the helm. Can't expect any improvement let alone maintaining our current rankings.

will be similar, sri lanka and south africa are arguably getting weaker at a faster rate. new zealand will always be more professional than pak, but pak will have individual players to beat em in favourable conditions.

windies will keep producing power hitters, but their long form cricket is unlikely to recover to challenge top 3 consistently. and pak cant compete with money of top 3. also see amount of test cricket against top nations being reduced, and likely longer window for ipl.

only chance for pak is if eng and ind are unable to replace their aging seam attacks by that time. eng and ind esp have had a purple patch when it comes to quicks over the last 5 to 10 years, which is not guaranteed to continue.

1)
Tests: #4
ODIs: #2
T20Is: #1

Pakistan Test team is worse than it was a few years ago, but now it will improve. Non-performing seniors will be phased out, while promising youngsters like Babar, Shaheen, Imam and Rizwan will get the team to the middle of the rankings.

The ODI team is young and improving already. They barely missed out on the WC semis and beat both finalists. They have the #3 ranked batsman (Babar), #7 ranked bowler (Amir) and the #3 ranked all-rounder (Imad). Add to that the world's best player of spin in Haris and they will definitely will dominate in ODIs alongside India as England and Australia decline.

The opening combination of Fakhar-Babar has been the best in the last few years in T20Is. Expect that to continue. Add to that Hafeez 3.0, and the 3rd leading scorer in T20s (Malik), and Pakistan's batting is arguably the strongest in T20Is. Their bowling is by far the best in T20Is. They have the most skilled T20I bowler in Amir and two spinners ranked in the Top 10 (Imad and Shadab). Any game that Pakistan loses in this format in the coming years, will be an upset.

2)
Tests: Imam, Babar, Haris, Rizwan, Yasir, Faheem, Shaheen, Naseem
ODIs: Imam, Fakhar, Babar, Haris, Rizwan, Imad, Hasan, Amir, Shaheen
T20Is: Fakhar, Babar, Imad, Shadab, Amir, Shaheen, Rauf

3)
Batsmen: Imam, Babar, Haris
Bowlers: Shaheen, Naseem, Rauf
Keeper: Mohammad Rizwan
All-Rounder: Faheem Ashraf

4)
2021 T20 WC: Finals
2022 T20 WC: Champions
2023 ODI WC: Champions
Test Championship: Mid-Table

5)
If this virus subsides eventually, then yes.

Apart from the champions for those 3 tournaments being India, rest of the post is accurate. Number 4 in odi would be Pakistan. Number 4 in T20 as well.

It is tough to judge Pak cricket and what direction it will move....I will try to be rational and practical rather than being too optimistic or to pessimist.....
I think this will be the scenarios.....

1. Rankings...... Test 4 /5
ODI ...3/4. T20s.....2/3

2. Core players....
Test.... Babar Abdullah Rizwan Saheen
ODIs ....Babar Haider Saheen Rauf Akif
T20s.....toughest to judge.....but many
Youngsters can make their name and
Many seniors will bid adieu.....

Haider Babar Khushdil Akif Rauf Saheen
May be Rohail too

3. 3 premium bowlers bats and allrounder
I will pick 3.....in all..I also pick dark
horses those who can challenge the 3

bat Haider Babar Haris
Bowl Saheen Akif Rauf....
Allrounders... Hassan Shadab Faheem

Dark Horses.....
Bat. Zeeshan Malik Abdul Wahid Danish
Aziz Abdullah...
Bowl. Arshad Naseem Shinwari Musa
Allrounders...Ahmad butt Adil Amin...
Qasim Akram...

4. T20 2021 WC....Semis
T20 2022 WC ....finals..may be champion..
ODI 2023 WC....Semis sure after that anything can happen...

5. Yes definitely.

SAF are scheduled to tour in Jan 2021

1) We will average #4 across limited overs formats by 2025. We will find it difficult to do better than the Big 3, but Pakistan is lucky enough to find a lot of good talent coming through the ranks who will peak in 3-5 years. This will enable us to punch above weight and defeat sides like New Zealand and South Africa in Limited Overs. We will also be decently competitive in Tests, though I expect us to hover around #5. We will win one series in SENA during the period 2023-2026, but no more. In tournaments, we will punch above weight.

2) Our squad will be based around the following players-
T20 and ODI: Babar, Haider, Shadab, Rizwan, Shaheen, Rauf
Tests: Babar, Haider, Abdullah Shafiq, Rizwan, Shaheen, Naseem, Zafar Gohar

3) The 2 (not 3) premier batsmen will be Babar and Haider. There will be good supporting roles from Imam, Abdullah, and Rizwan.

Shaheen will be the number one bowler across formats. Rauf will be in the top 20 for limited overs and occasionally break into the top 10. Naseem will be top 15 in tests but will not break higher due to injuries. He will also not be able to find a place in the limited overs sides on a consistent basis.

4) The 2 T20 world cups: in 2021 we will be knocked out before the semi finals, then in 2022 we will make the semis. After that it’s anyone’s game. Though we will definitely not make it all the way.

2023 World Cup: Finalists. Might even win, but likely we will end up runners-up. However, we will be a very potent side.

5) Yes. It already has. All SENA sides will tour for the first time between 2022-2023. India will not tour until 2024, at the very least. After that, it depends on the policies of the incoming government (whether Modi or not) as they will have more power to move towards peace with a fresh elections mandate. Regardless of the government, this is unlikely though, so the first India tour will probably have to wait longer.

PCB will begin hosting U19 and Women’s world cups, and will aim to bid for the ODI world cup in 2031 as well as T20 world cups in the time range 2025-2030. We will also host 1 Asia Cup during the 2020s in Pakistan. PSL will continue to grow, and foreign players will be available though conflicts with IPL will continue (as it will always be the first choice league).

Pakistan is very hard to predict.

I predict one semifinal, one test draw or win in England.

Babar as undisputed captain in all formats.

Several new raw speedsters.

PSL to add 2 new teams. And become the majority of cricket Pakistanis consume.

Cricket will fully return to Pakistan.
