ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a show-cause notice to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nehal Hashmi over his ‘threatening’ remarks against apex court judges and members of the JIT who are probing the Sharif family’s offshore wealth.

“Listen! You ask the son of Nawaz Sharif to submit his account detail. Who are you to ask him his account details? We are the workers of Nawaz Sharif. We will make an example of those who hold us accountable…” Hashmi was seen telling an audience invisible in the short video clip.

During the hearing of a suo motu notice taken by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, a three-judge bench of the top court, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, directed the ruling party’s lawmaker to submit his response by June 5.

The bench directed Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Ashtar Ausaf Ali, who has been appointed as prosecutor, to collect material related to the case.

The court observed that a systematic campaign was being run by the government against judges of the apex court and the JIT. “The Cabinet members and some individuals have launched a campaign against judiciary,” remarked Justice Ijazul Ahsen.

Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh said the incumbent government is acting like “the Sicilian Mafia, which would threaten judges”.

When AGP urged the court to ban media talk on Panama Papers issue, Justice Azmat told him that his government was making a mess, saying “we dealt dictators but they did not give threats to our children”. He wondered how could the court believe that nobody was behind Hashmi.

Directing the AGP to clarify the government’s stance, Justice Ejaz said: “We have appointed the JIT members and will not be subdued by anyone.”

Justice Ijazul Ahsen observed that the person issuing such threats is a senator who is also holding a senior party position in Sindh but the government remained silent for two days. “Some members of cabinet and spokespersons are also seemed to be part of campaign against judiciary,” he remarked.

Later, Hashmi wanted to say something but the bench did not allow and asked him to submit his written response.

Why do people assume that if I question Imran Khan on a specific issue that automatically I become a PML-N supporter and think that these people are doodh ke dhulle howe?

I have said this time and time again and I'll say it again now that there is no doubt that the Sharif's are corrupt however, does that automatically make Imran Khan a viable choice to lead the country? No, it does not.

So the pain of defending the corrupt thugs gets too much so lets use the old chestnut that you always believed that NS was corrupt. My friend you can support NS as much as you like, but isnt it strange that whenever there is any critical IK thread you seem to be there but not a murmur on the billions the Sharifs have stolen. You were rejoicing a couple of days ago but today you seem to be a bit downbeat, i hope the news that IK has the paperwork hasnt wrecked your week.

But but but I will say everything in their support but when I don't have any argument left I will use the typical cop out that I'm not a Noon supporter :sree :sree :sree :sree

They are trying to prolong all issues till March when the Senate elections are due to be held. Since they have majority in NA they will get the most seats in Senate. After that NS may resign.

Hopefully he is sent home long before that.

You will find me in all threads criticizing IK because I'm not a fan. However, his fans think he can do no wrong and is infallible. When it comes to Nawaz, there's hardly anything to argue to debate about. He is corrupt but can it be proven in court? If it can't be proven in court then the whole rhetoric is meaningless. When it comes to political agenda and the overall policies of both parties I'd pick PML-N over PTI any day of the week.

Regardless of all that What can I add to the whole Nawaz being corrupt debate that hasn't already been said? My point on this is and always has been either prove it in court or just shut up about it. There's no point in shouting how corrupt he is when nothing can be done about it. The only thing people can do is vote smartly next time. The democratic system will fix itself eventually when given enough time and we will start seeing good leaders being elected and neither Nawaz nor Imran is a good leader but unfortunately this is all we have at the moment.

Justice Khosa was well aware of the Mafia tactics and how they operate

If proof was ever needed of how the mafia operate. No institution is safe from their Corruption.

Interesting, he is a very capable journalist and asks tough questions, but I have always had impression of him being in the pocket of N-league.

He is an opportunist and switch sides regularly now he is back to saving Sharifs and PMLN. And PMLN supporters now see a messiah in Hamid.

Laal masjid operation is enough to expose Hamid Mir

Thats why this guy is such a loser- he knows the modus operandi of the mafia but nonetheless he turns upto their party meetings and tells what good people they are.

He will go with the flow and do what's best for him, however as you rightfully state, there's a good journalist in there somewhere, however he's also got a business to run as president of GNN so a bit of controversy and tamasha never goes amiss.

For instance when he paid credence to the obvious fake messages Batman in my profile pic had about IK sexually harassing her, controversy creates cash for journalists.
