Warne, Murali and Saqlain are the 3 best odi spinners i have ever seen. Amazingly, they all played in the same era.

Who else do you rank as a top ODI spinner?

Should also add Kumble to the mix. Was always a threat and a match winner.

If Murali is in the conversation, then add Ajmal too. If not, then has to be just Saqlain and Warne in the discussion.

There’s only two options here; Warne (average of ~26 with nearly 309 wickets and ATG WC performances) and Saqlain (average of ~22 with nearly 300 wickets).

Is Bradd Hogg the only spinner to have won 2 World Cup winners medals?

The guy is an underrated spinner because Shane Warne was the king of spin for Australia in Tests. Muralitharan was the most decorated but Hogg may be the only spinner to have played 2 wc finals and won both matches.

Brad Hogg was a couple of notches below these guys but i always thought he was a terrific ODI bowler. He was an important member of the 2003 and 2007 WC winning teams.

I thought he was a terrific ODI bowler. I always felt for Stuart McGill though. Warne kept him out of tests and Hogg kept him out of ODI's.

I remember first watching him in the 1996 Titan Cup in India, and being amazed by his skills.

Saqlain had a short ODI career but he was amazing.

From India, I'd rate Kumble above Harbhajan.

Warne and Murali of course.

Warne - always going to be the king of spin in test cricket for me hands down . love Murli and what he has done for SL cricket but Warne is the man ...

Would i have him as the best in ODI.... no doubt but i think Saqlain takes him out just bcz of Saqlain's ability to ball at the depth ... Saqi boy was THE MASTERCLASS spinner at the depth and equally good with Warne in middle overs

so with that slight small reason.. i would go with Saqi as the best spinner with Warne abs on his very close tail with murli equally close to Warne

few noteables , in no particular order - Dan Vetori, Kumble, Harbajan, Swan, Imran Tahir, Ashwin,Mushi, Ajmal

I am hoping more for a top 10 list type thing, so the more name the better.

Ajantha Mendis and Sanath Jayasuriya definitely deserve to be in the conversation in addition to the other names mentioned here. Ajantha Mendis has the best strike rate of any bowler in ODIs of all time.

Murali, Saqlain and Warne

Murali with the greatest longevity
Saqlain the greatest peak, but got figured out
Warne the best in big games

Interesting statistical quirk.

I looked into it and here are all the spinners who have ever bowled in multiple ICC World Cup finals:

Muttiah Muralitharan (played 3, won 1)
Brad Hogg (played 2, won 2)
Harbhajan Singh (played 2, won 1)
Viv Richards :viv (played 2, won 1)
Tillakaratne Dilshan (played 2, won 0)

Viv Richards was a medium pace dibbly dobbler, wasn't he?

Murali, Warne, Saqi were the best ODI spinners I saw. Ajmal, when was chucking, was really good too. Without chucking, he looked like suresh raina.

1. Murali
2. Saqlain
3. Warne
4. Rashid khan(in LOIs)
5. Imran Tahir
6. Brad Hogg
7. Abdul Qadir
8. Anil Kumble
9. Harbhajan Singh
10. Daniel Vettori

Ajmal should also be there, especially if you are including Murali:inti

Although I'm not a fan of Afridi but I'm surprised that no one has mentioned him, he was awesome in ODI's from 2007 till 2014.
