Pakistan says Chabahar Port can never be a competitor of Gwadar port since it is not a deep-sea port. On the other hand Indians seem very happy that India will be able to reach Afghanistan without Pak help.

China is a big market and its products demand is everywhere including USA but what will India achieve?

The problem here is Pakistan may one day be called: Chinastan, China already making their presence in POK....... Pakistan's India paranoia causing them to sell their souls..... If Pakistan for once just forget that India exist and concentrate on themselves they will go far, otherwise its only a matter of time....

I've seen reports/comments by Iranian/Chinese officials and they're very far from seeing it as a wider geo-political informal war, see Chinese support of both countries for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (in fact I think that China chose Gwadar Port keeping more US than India in mind, namely when it comes to the former's influence in the economically vital strait of Malacca/South China sea.) Economic cooperation means regional integration (look at the China-India trade) and peace for all.

Chabahar deal 'not finished'; Pakistan, China welcome: Iran

The offer to cooperate had first been extended to Pakistan and then China, implying neither had expressed interest, he said while speaking on Pakistan-Iran relations at the Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad (ISSI), Dawn newspaper reported.

The envoy said that both are sister ports, and Chabahar port authorities would extend cooperation to Gwadar.

"The deal is not finished. We are waiting for new members. Pakistan, our brotherly neighbours and China, a great partner of the Iranians and a good friend of Pakistan, are both welcome. India was a good friend during the sanctions, the only country to import oil from us during sanctions," Honerdoost said.

The deal is still on the table for both Pakistan and China, assuring that "Chabahar is not a rival to Gwadar", Ahmed Saffee, a research fellow at the ISSI, quoted the Iranian envoy as saying.

I think both will serve their purpose. Are these ports competing in some way?

Nothing wrong with 'Chinastan', it's an old civilization and they have works ethics which happen to be unfindable commodity in Pak. Better than to remain corrupt paindoos pooping outdoor. Just compare Xi Jinping with Nawaz Sharif.

Iran is trolling India and taking its money

Eventually PPP will be back in power in Pak someday and stars will realign with Pakistan and Iran becoming the natural allies that they are :amir

These binary questions makes me puke everytime , so many of them on PP offlate.

What else India export beside engineer and doctors ? They don't need a port to deliver them, a ticket for flying tube would have been enough.
India could have saved millions had they decided to normalized relationship with Pakistan.

Afghanistan is not a big enough market that India would be dying to get to it by hook or crook. The real purpose of the Chabahar port is for a naval base for the Indian Navy to counter the inevitable Chinese naval base at Gwadar.

In terms of economic potential Chabahar is no match for Gwadar.

Ofcourse Russia Iran a whole new route to Central Asia and Possible Japanese invest there are numerous benefits of the Chabahar port for many countries unlike Gwadar which is dependent on China.

Thanks but we are doing OK and we export a lot of things and reading will help you.

Chabahar is all about bringing India-Iran-Afghanistan closer and if it achieves that it will be a success. However, talk of a fully fledged India naval base at Chabahar is fanciful - no Iranian leader will ever allow this. On the other hand the Chinese will have this privilege when it comes to Gwadar.

:ua so chahbahar port is now also dependent on china

Indians when they were linked to Chabahar project : Chabahar is a game changer. It will sideline Gawadar project and make it irrelevant.

Indians after Iran kicked India out for not paying up: Chabahar was never going to work anyway :)) :))

Pakistan, Iran ink MoU for 100MW power to Gwadar
Minister for Energy Khurram Dastgir Khan visited Iran from March 10 to 13

Pakistan and Iran have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the supply of 100MW of electricity to Gwadar.

On the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Minister for Energy Khurram Dastgir Khan visited Iran from March 10 to 13, said a press release issued here Monday.

Khurram Dastgir held meetings with Iranian Minister of Energy Ali Akber Mehrabian. Both ministers emphasized further strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries, besides extending cooperation in the the energy sector. They showed interest in initiating new joint ventures in the energy sector.

The minister’s visit aimed at finalizing an agreement on power supply to Gwadar, which was initiated in his earlier visit in June 2022. In a record time of nine months, the electricity transmission line has been laid from Iran to Gwadar.

For the finalization of the agreement, three sessions were held by technical teams in which extensive discussions were held. The project would be inaugurated at the earliest and it would ensure uninterrupted supply to Gwadar which would lay a foundation for a prosperous Gwadar.
