Had Inzamam not played that great knock in the semi final, how would Imran's innings be remembered?

Imran played a gem of an innings in the World Cup final but if Inzamam hadn't saved us during the semi final, would Imran's innings be remembered as a match losing one? His strike rate was less than 50 despite playing almost one third of the deliveries while chasing a big total for that time.

It would have been remembered like Misbah's Mohali innings is.

It's true that Inzi bailed us out in that semi but all major triumphs require a little bit of luck to go your way. And if you really want to get in to the nitty gritty, then it was Immy who campaigned to get Inzi in the side the first place. Not only that, in the first couple of failure of the 92 WC for Inzi Immy still kept his faith in Inzi and Inzi obliged.

Imran was playing with a severe shoulder problem and was taking pain killers to get through.

Man, I was just watching some vids of the 92 WC and came across this documentary of Immy after just winning the WC. You'd be mad if you told me he wasn't the most popular cricketer Pakistan EVER produced. :afridi

Excellent Share.

Once NZL scored 260+, people had already given up any hope before chase started and how Imran played at that time was quite norm. You have to watch live cricket then, scoreboards do not tell everything. Game has changed a lot since then. Imagine 260+ like 360 these days

One of the very very few times i rooted for Pakistan. Infact many of my Indian friends rooted for Pakistan as everyone hated New zealand.

Javed's inning is the one most critical in the final. But inzimam's semi final inning was the greatest innings by a pakistani bastman, the match was lost, and everyone had given up and this happened out of nowhere.

Guys let it go, that world cup was freaking 24 years ago!!

Javed Minded played a crucial role in our victory. In fact, take him out and our batting would have collapsed. As long as he was on the crease we knew we had a chance, for me he's the greatest match winning batsman.
