Peshawar Zalmi duo of Haider Ali and Umaid Asif have been suspended from Thursday’s HBL Pakistan Super League 6 final against Multan Sultans after they admitted to charges of violating the HBL PSL 6 Health and Safety Protocols by meeting people from outside their designated bio-secure bubble and also failing to maintain the prescribed social distancing.

The incident happened on Wednesday and the decision was made early Thursday morning by the Tournament Covid-19 Management panel comprising Barrister Salman Naseer (PCB, Chief Operating Officer) and Mr Babar Hamid (Director – Commercial, and HBL PSL 6 head).

The two cricketers were found not to have interacted with any other squad members at any time after the incident and have been placed in room isolation.

Furthermore, Haider Ali has been withdrawn from the England and West Indies tours, respectively.

Chair of the Selectors Muhammad Wasim, in consultation with captain Babar Azam and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has named Sohaib Maqsood as Haider Ali’s replacement for the two tours on which the Pakistan men’s national cricket team will play three ODIs and eight T20Is, apart from two Tests in Jamaica.

Sohaib has had a stellar HBL Pakistan Super League 6, in which he has to date scored 363 runs in 11 matches with an average of 40.33 and strike-rate of just under 153.

Sohaib has represented Pakistan in 26 ODIs and 20 T20Is, with his last T20I appearance being against New Zealand in Hamilton in January 2016.

For people who only read the title, Maqsood has been named as Haider’s replacement for our next tours. A blessing in disguise because Maqsood has easily looked the best Pakistani batsman in the PSL. Haider’s time will come.

"How to shoot your own feet" demonstrated by Haider Ali.

The news of Sohaib Maqsood being in squad was making rounds since a few days back, I wont be surprised if this 'breach' is part of the plan.

Both of these players should be penalised with half of the tournament fees as their actions could have jeopardised the whole tournament and the health of other players. It is really pathetic that they can not follow simple rules.

i think deep down Pakistan backroom staff were hoping for something like this to happen so they can draft in Maqsood.

Don't know why they won't learn even with all the incidents that have happened already. Won't be surprised if both of them are among the lot who think covid isn't real.

Not the best circumstance to get a call but, Sohaib Maqsood earned it with his efforts in white ball cricket in last year or so.

Time for Haider to sort his issues out and perform in the domestic cricket again. Feel for him as he was thrown into international cricket too early and like most fast tracked players he found it hard to adapt straight away when he didnt especially when he didn’t even experience much ups and downs at domestic level.

Blessing in disguise. Haider has to sort out his batting issues with Mohammed Yousuf and Sohaib is in the form of his life.

I feel Haider Ali will be out of the national team for long time, or for good if he does not recover and does not perform in domestic. I doubt Peshawar Zalmi or any franchise will buy him in future. The youngster should have listened to Muhammad Yousaf last year in April :

“Haider Ali plays too many shots and needs better shot selection. If he wants to improve his overall game then he needs to work on his technique,” said Yousaf. “It is easy to slog as anyone can slog. You are either successful or miss out when you are trying to smash every ball out of the park.”

Very disappointing behaviour.

Really surprising that players will still do this despite what happened during the PSL in Pakistan.

Such players should be banned and lose their PCB contracts.

I think it might be part of larger plan, they will most likely not going to play, umaid had a shocker and haider is replaced by imam most likely for the final.

Why are making up stories? What will you gain from it :s

Umaid being out today is a big blow for Peshwar

Great news, we are carrying less dead weight on the tour.

The only thing left is to slot Malik into the squad as well.

The night before the final. Just had to obey the protocols for another night, but instead put their team and the entire PSL 6 final at risk.

Blessing in disguise for Peshawar as umaid cringe trundler won't play the match. He would have lost them the final.

A PZ player told me that the beach the players have been visiting isn't a private beach. The hotel management were supposed to separate a section for the PSL teams but members of the public were using it.

What happened with Umaid and Haider is that members of the public approached them out of the blue, someone took pictures and that was the end of their PSL.

If thats the case then its unfortunate for them and poor management by hotel but, PCB had to follow the protocols of the bubble breach.
