Both bright future prospects Haider ali and Ishan Kishan for Pakistan and India respectively debuted against england and blasted swashbuckling 50s to set up the wins for their teams.

Haider scored a 54 off 33 while Kishan 56 off 32.
The bowlers were mostly the same. Irrespective of whose carreer turns out to be better, which innings was better.

Haidar will get more chance where Ishan will only play bits n pieces here and there.

Haider also needs to get consistent

The current generation of Pakistan batsmen like Abdullah Shafique, Sohail Nazeer, Saim Ayub, Musafir Khan are all very talented

Yes ishan will have to wait until rohit retires but even then he will have to face steep competition from jaiswal, paddikal etc.

If Ishan gets more chances, he will become no. 2 behind Pant. But again his chances will be few and far in between

Kishan probably made a case for himself for ODIs as well. Lot of options for the opening slot but not many left-handers. Only Padikkal.

Never compare Pakistani and Indian batsmen.

The Indian batsmen’s temperament, shot selection, match-awareness and batting intelligence are at a completely different level.

Ishan Kishan all the way.

Kishan, Padikkal, Jaiswal - some outstanding left-handers coming through for India excluding Pant of course.

The amount of talent in India is incredible.

Nitish Rana is also a quality player but he might not get a chance because he is already 27.

Ishan needs only a couple of failures to get kicked out of the team. The way he plays, it’s just waiting to happen sooner than later. His place will be very iffy considering how much competition is there in the team.

Haider Ali will surely get a longer rope to succeed. He is just as talented as Kishan if not more and he is the future of Pakistan batting.

These threads have become so old fashioned, boring and cringe worthy that I wish if I could ban “This vs That” threads.

Indian batting culture is incredible so their batsmen are always the benchmark in every generation.

However, Pakistani fans should refrain from comparing their batsmen to India’s because Pakistan is the polar opposite of India when it comes to batting culture. It is always ends in heartbreak.

The innings of both batsmen on debut were asked to be compared since both were 50s against england irrespective of who ends up enjoying a better career.

Lots of similarities.
Both were equally good. In both cases their teams were under the pressure to level the series and both of them were just waiting to get their chance to break in to the team.
This is irrespective of their future career.

Another pointless thread I know Pakistani fans are desperate for a quality batsman but stop comparing, Haider is extremely talented, he needs time & consistent backing from the team management just like Babar did get the backing in his earlier career despite many failures in test cricket.

Kindly name even one Pakistani on this thread :p

The thing is that this thread exists and we look at Haider as one of our future stars while Ishan Kishan is happy to play T20s for India and Mumbai Indians. He will not and need not play for India in ODIs or tests as there are better players for those formats while we're counting on Haider to make progress and represent Pakistan in al formats. There's no comparison between the two countries in terms of batting talent. They're leaps and bounds ahead of us.

Agreed.
This is Ishan Kishan's record in Domestic Test Cricket. Already has 5 Centuries and 15 half centuries.
There is an inning he played on a raging turner, score 87 against Ravi Jadeja, aged 15.

He is only 22 years old. Some more polish, India A tours and sessions with Dravid, You have another possible avg 45+ batter who can come into Test Team as well, When needed.
The thing is, he may not be required though as to play Test Cricket, he would need 2 season minimum with 55+ average and 1000 Plus runs to be even be in discussion.

I don't think he'll ever be a Test-level player. But if he plays like this, he can make a case for himself in ODIs as the successor to Dhawan, at least for the short-term.

Only way he can be in Test team is by becoming a wicketkeeper although I dont think his style is suited for test.
But if it happned, I worry for the fielding team. On one end you have Ishan Kishan and on the other end Pujara. What gameplan can you have?

True but before 1989 Pakistan produced better batsmen and ballers than India.

Hanif, Miandad, Zaheer, even Majid >>>>> Gavaskar, Vengsarkar,Azhar etc.

Miandad was very innovative too. Probably the founder of modern day chasing.

It was after Tendulkar made his debut that Indian batting revolutionized and they're still reaping benefits.

Well we all know where KL Rahul v Babar Azam is heading

Also Babar v Shreyas Iyer

Honestly Ishan Kishan looks quite average from what I've seen. There are far better young batsman in India than him. Haider Ali has more potential imho no matter what PP's resident doctor says.

Haider Ali is clearly more talented between the two but Kishan can have a very good T20 career for India.

Kishan is a type of batsman that India need at top order and hence they should move on from Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan has not done anything worth remembering for T20s also.

Ishan is a WK. That is the thing most likely to suddenly thrust him forward despite there being 10's of better batters. If Pant has extended bad patch in his career or a major injury then we will go to reserve wks one by one. He just has to keep grinding for Jharkhand in Ranji.

Ishan Kishan is a hack. It's an insult to Haider Ali to be compared to Ishan. Ishan vs Khushdil Shah would be a fair comparison imo

Haider ali innings was better becouse he was away from home otherwise both were good innings.

Haider ali is defonitely more talented.
But ishan is a good hack player.

Ishan has left Khushdil and Haider both in the dust with his fastest double hundred.

I repeat.

Never dare to compare Pakistani & Indian batsmen. Never.

Pakistan had destroyed Haider Ali by making him bat at a spot which is alien to him..Throughout his short career he has been an opening batter and has performed exceptionally well but i fail to understand why he is played in middle order in T20 cricket just to accommodate Rizwan who by the way will never make you win matches.A veteran player like Babar doesn't go and play in middle order and Haider is made sacrifical lamb .How mean of Babar?
Haider Ali should be played as opener in both T20 and odi format and then could only be judged..and pls.dont make Rizwan and Babar open.they jus kill the tempo and bat till 10-12 overs and sore mere 70 odd.
T20 squad of Pakistan should be
Haider Ali
Fakhar zaman
M.Haris(wk)/Azam Khan(wk)
Babar
Shahdab
Abdullah Shafiq(yes,he is good strokemaker)
Imad Wasim
Amir Yamin/faheem Ashraf
Shaheen
Naseem
Haris

Before Kishan's 210, I would've said Haider.

But, I think he has edged ahead of Haider with that 210. I know opponent was Bangladesh and it was a dead rubber. But, you still need to be good to score 200+.

Haider Ali is only 22. He can improve with experience in FC/List A. He has played a lot of T20s which hasn't developed his game. He looked impressive in the U19 World Cup and played with maturity but at the international stage, he bats like a slogger.
