What's new

Haider Ali versus Yashasvi Jaiswal

India isn’t Pakistan where you play till 40. 2023 World Cup will be Rohit’s farewell in ODI cricket at 36. Even if he doesn’t retire they will try to phase him out slowly like they are doing with Dhawan now.

India will need a new opener to compete alongside Rahul and Shaw in 2-3 years and they will obviously give chances to Jaiswal.

True about Sharma. He doesn't seem fit enough to sustain this level of batting in late 30s. See him retiring in 2023-24 season, will.contonue to play IPL.till 40 he's a Mumbai legend now and deservingly.

Kohli is a fitness freak. I'm just worried about his mental well being. He can carry on longer till 2027 wc.

This is one thing which I like the most about Pak cricket. Whatever the reasons maybe, giving int'l exposure to promising teen-agers is a laudable thing and can reap great results in the future.

Of course, you shouldn't overdo it by throwing them against Australia in Australia like the Pak think-tank did but playing them in inconsequential games against weak opponents should be encouraged more in Indian cricket. Their treatment of Gill has been pathetic so far. They could have easily given him some games last year against the likes of SL, Ban, WI etc but instead allowed Kohli and Rohit to statpad.

Anyways, Haider Ali will be a much improved cricketer by the time Jaiswal makes his int'l debut (likely after the '23 WC). After that, it's anyone's guess.

I agree with your post. I have said the exact same thing many times here. Before IPL we used to select under 19 cricketers consistently. Yuvi, Raina, Kaif, Pathan, RP Singh, Kohli, Rohit are all examples of that. Apart from Pant and Shaw there aren't any under 19 cricketers who are in the pipeline. I am always in favour of selecting fast bowlers when they are young. We are wasting Mavi, Porel and Nagarkotti. :inti

Jaiswal is a good player proberly on par with haider

Thing about u19 cricket people hype it up too much but truth is only one of the 11 players in u19 make it to the big stage and it doesn’t always have to be the best player in that u19 eleven who people saw in the World Cup like jaiswal. There have been so many instances players have shined in the u19 World Cup and never seen the daylight of international cricket.

But why is that surely if hes the best going at his age he should be given a chance

For example haider was the best in Pakistan u19s he was given a chance and done pretty well at international game against england

Jaiswal is a compact player at par with Indian standard of batting.

Haider seems promising, coaching staff needs to work with him to develop more off side game which would also improve his foot work.

For the record,

Haider Ali: 1
Yashasvi : 0

Shaheen Shah: 1
Nagarkotti, Mavi : 0

This is becoming the norm. Indian U-19 talent is losing in oblivion while Pakistani U-19 talent is getting thrown in the main scene right away.

That is because India have way too many better players already in the domestic system for them to even consider little u19 kids. They haven’t even played shubhman gill yet properly. India has guys to choose from India A India red India green and than domestic after that comes u19 we only have u19 lol and that too like only one or two players.

India have an ocean of better batsmen and he is just another little fish in it so he won’t get any chance until another 2-3 years minimum.

Yes thatd true india does have ocean of Bateman so he myt not even get a chance.

indian batsmen tend to improve with time, they have a player development culture oriented towards batsmen. if any pakistani batsmen ends up as a worldie, its in spite of the system rather than because of it.

Even Shaw hasn't got enough opportunities despite performing well in domestic and showing promise in the few internationals that he has played. Then we have Gill. I'm not sure if Yashaswi is anywhere close to selection.

In Indian cricket, comes down quite a lot to bit of luck.and grabbing your first 1-2 opportunities because that's all you might ever get. Just look at Gill. He got a chance in some useless ODI or T20 and he failed in it, never got another opportunity in playing XI. Imagine if he had smashed a match winning 50 ball 70-80 something! The media would have covered it so much and he would have become an instant star leading to more opportunities.

But then also there is a certain Manish Pandey. He only gets to play T20s and I don't know if it's coincidence or what but every time I have seen this guy play for us, he looked impressive but somehow he still only gets limited chances.

Nothing to boast, we have let people like Jadhav, Rayudu play endlessly for us I don't know why it's easy for some and so hard for others

Out for 6 of 6 on ipl debut. Will be interesting to see his progress.

Jaiswal is a poor man's Anwar.

Haider Ali is a rich man's AB de Villiers.

Agreed. Just like Shaheen is a poor man's Ashok Dinda.

Shami is a rich man's Imran Khan.

Ye kuch jyada ho gaya :))

Haider Ali looks a good talent though and so is Jaiswal. Whatever I have seen of both, Haider looks a better T20 prospect while Jaiswal looks good for ODIs.

Haider ali is defo better in t20
Both are proberly on par with each other in odis but haider likely will have more match winning performance and jaiswal will be more consistent to haider

Jaiswar proberly wins it in tests I fink

India batting future is absolutely safe even after Kohli , Pujara, Rahane, Dhawan & Rohit era.

Rahul, Mayank & Iyer (in their 20's now) will be matured & blossomed into solid all format players.

A battery of young batsman are already been earmarked to take up the mantel.

Jaiswal
Paddikal
Shaw
Gill
Samson ( in mid 20's now but better be late than never! )

Also, the sooner we throw Pant in garbage box, the better for the team.

TBH there is no comparrison between Haider Ali and Jaiswal... Haider Ali is a slogger where Yashasvi Jaiswal is more like a complete batsman.

Lol india are the worst at prolonging the careers of washed up has beens just for marketing reasons alone and big name factor.

They still have rohit and kohli who are both rubbish now in t20. Same old washed up team where the selectors still haven't really picked any young talents.

In odi this last wc would be the last but it's india. Wouldn't surprise me of fake king kohli and nohit play till 2027.

Lol. Throw pant in the garbage box.

Funny in hindsight isn't it.

And lol at shaw
Paddikal.

Haider ali vs Jaiswal???? LOL

Even Haider ali will find this comparison funny if he hears about it. Jaiswal has took the world by storm and haider is still a nobody in Pakistan cricket let alone internationals.

Haider Ali isn't finished yet. Won PSL just last month.
Fair but he isn't on pcb radar atm, he wasn't ampung the 29 taken to kakul camp and from kakul camp 15 were selected.

Lol its funny how pcb have hasebullah in the ranks over him
