Javed Miandad on his YouTube channel:

"An unimaginable punishment should be given for this [spot fixing]"

"I say to such people that you arent even sincere to your parents & family as you are hiding this from them"

"I say to those who do this that even in Islam you are nothing if you cant be sincere to your parents"

"Cricket is a game which deals in spreading happiness - when you make a 100, the whole of Pakistan dances with joy"

"When we won the World Cup, or when I hit a six (off the last ball) - the world stood up in happiness and I am still happy about it"

"PCB is doing this wrong - no one should be forgiven for this"

"The punishment for murder is death itself and that's the end of it"

"In cricket it should be the same and an example set so that a person cant even think about doing this"

"So this good isnt it? Today I made money [doing spot fixing] and was removed from the side, tomorrow I say please forvive me; A person will always ask for forgiveness when he does something wrong wont he?"

"Hang such people! If you do something wrong then you will be afraid of hanging, otherwise why would you be worried?"

"In Saudi Arabia when you murder someone, next day your neck gets chopped off"

"In Islam we say chop the hands off theives - The world will take heed when they see people with their hands cut off"

"Someone who does something to hurt humanity does not have the right to stay in this world"

"If we follow the law set for us by the Almighty then we will never have any cause for pain"

"They sold out their country and made wealth then were brought back - shame on those people who brought them back"

"I would never had done this - if someone made money in that way, I would say to him go away [and dont come back]"

"Its upto parents to take their responsibility seriously just like I did"

"If a kid brought some money or object, I would ask how did you get it? Did you steal it was the first thing we would ask?"

"If you hurt millions including children with your actions then you will need to answer them carefully"

"I can forgive you but when you travel the world, what will the world think of you? Who will respect you"

In a country where rapists and murderers aren't being hanged he wants cricketers to be hanged like seriously JM! lol

Islam also teaches us to forgive and Leave it for Allah. I agree with Miandad there should be zero tolerance for any kind of fixing if they get caught should be banned for life and banned from anything that’s connect them to cricket including anchoring on T.V SHOWS

Javed Bhai in no mood to take prisoners - literally!

But put aside the semantics - you can see how passionate he is about the privilege of playing for the country.

Buddy needs to take a pill chill
Some of his comments are proper kamal ki baatein

He needs to be stop giving interviews. He is at that age where people loose their mind a bit.

If fixing gangs approach a player and say "bowl a no-ball or we'll go after your family", what then?

That’s the generation gap/void that has been created now, just look at how the opinions are divided in this thread. JM is sincere about playing for the country and his Jazbaat put cricket on par with the military or if not beyond I guess.

Obviously I don't believe match fixers should be hanged, but I agree with him to an extent. I hate how cricketers can sell out their country, betray their fans, make money, then come back and act like nothing has happened. It's total **

What happened to this passion and love for the country when he was PCB's director general from 2008 to 2014 where he happily enjoyed Rs 100 million from the PCB without contributing anything to the upliftment of Pakistan Cricket.?

Are you seriously comparing that (possible mismanagement) to selling your country down the river?

KARACHI: Pakistan batting great Javed Miandad has demanded that players who are found guilty of corruption in cricket should be hanged for bringing their country into disrepute.

Speaking on his Youtube channel, the former Pakistan captain said he had no sympathies for players who indulge in fixing of any sort and commit treason with their teams and country.

"Players who are involved in spot-fixing should be severely punished," he said.

"Spot-fixers should be hanged because it is similar to killing someone and so the punishment should also be on the same lines. An example should be set so that no player even thinks about doing something like this.

The International Olympic Committee has set June 29, 2021 as the new deadline for the qualification period of the Tokyo Olympics, which has been rescheduled to next year in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. According to the letter dated April 2, the revised sport entries deadline has now been set for July 5, 2021.

The iconic Sachin Tendulkar on Friday said managing the period after April 14 would be crucial to how India fares in its battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, a belief which was shared by PM Modi during a video conference with sportspersons. Tendulkar was among the 40-odd sportspersons with whom the PM had a one-hour video call to discuss the prevailing situation.

"These things go against the teachings of our religion (Islam) and should be treated accordingly."

Pakistan's experienced allrounder Muhammad Hafeez had trigged off a debate on whether players found guilty of corruption should be allowed to return to the Pakistan team with many, including former skipper Shahid Afridi, weighing in with his views.

Miandad, a veteran of 124 Tests, insisted that the Pakistan Cricket Board was not doing the right thing by forgiving such people.
"PCB is not doing the right thing by forgiving them. People who bring these players back should be ashamed of themselves," he said.
He also claimed that players who betrayed their teammates and country should not be forgiven on even humanitarian grounds.

"I feel these players who are found guilty are not even sincere to their own families and parents or they would never do this. They are spiritually not clear. These activities are not good at all on humanitarian grounds and such people don't deserve to live," he said.

He lamented that in Pakistan it has become easy for such players to indulge in corrupt practice, make illegal money and then use their sources and influence to get back into the team.

"It is so easy for players to get involved in these corrupt practices, make money and then use their influence and connections to comeback into the team."

He advised players to focus on the game and earn by performing on the field through their skills.

Miandad said he strongly felt about this issue because he knew how millions of people prayed for the team to do well and how cricket brought smiles and joy to Pakistanis.

He recalled how the entire nation had treated them after the 1992 World Cup victory.

"Imagine when the trust of these millions is broken should those breaking it be forgiven and allowed to play again?."
Hafeez had questioned the need to allow batsman Sharjeel Khan back in the national team after he completed a ban for spot-fixing in the PSL. He had demanded a life ban for all such players who are found guilty of corruption in the game.

Recently, Umar Akmal was caught in a corruption scandal and he faces a 12-month ban and a heavy fine for not reporting a spot-fixing offer made to him apparently at the start of the Pakistan Super League in February.

Lol deliberately taking Rs 100 million without deliberately delivering anything of value is not mismanagement but corruption of the highest order. It can be argued monetarily what Sharjeel did, did not cost the exchequer the same amount

No that's an allegation of the most serious order. And You will need to back that up with proof.

The death penalty.

The comfort food of morons and of primitive savages. A penalty which defines a country as backward, which is just a panacea for those too uneducated and ignorant to compare the murder rates of the USA and the more advanced countries.

Javed Miandad would succeed only in ensuring that Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa would outlaw all cricketing ties with Pakistan.

As if he is any better? He was holding top position with big salary doing nothing plus pushed his useless nephew to play for national team.
What Sharjeel did was bad but Miandad cost Pakistan more by not doing his job at all. Nothing but a hypocrite and sore looser!!!

Lol.

And who is going to hold Miandad accountable for looting PCB? Millions of rupees for doing a nothing job.

Get him in a psychiatric care facility ASAP.

What allegations, these are facts, check up on what Miandad was paid per month as PCB's DG from 2008 to 2014 and then ask yourself what did he really do or achieve for Pakistan's Cricket welfare during those 6 years when he was in a unique position to make a massive difference

Reminds me of another guy who will be happy picking up a lavish salary while doing his time pass after recently being anointed a critical role within Pakistan cricket. The gravy train does not end for some.

Yes, however unlike Miandad, this individual single handedly cost Pakistan may games with the bat and did not win many games for Pakistan with the bat

Miandad coached many of the individuals accused of matchfixing in the 1990s such as Salim Malik and Wasim Akram.

Where was this hardline stance then ? It seems his morals came second to his paycheck and opportunities to travel the world in first class.

‘Threw Ravi Shastri in the pool’: Javed Miandad recalls story from Pakistan’s tour of India

Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad on Wednesday recalled the hilarious encounter when both Pakistan cricket team and Indian cricket team played Holi together at a hotel in Bengaluru. Speaking in a Youtube video, Miandad recalled that the players did not have much to do in the hotel from Pakistan’s tour of India, so they spent their time putting colours on each other and throwing each other in the pool.

“During the Bangalore Test, both the teams were staying in the same hotel. There was not much to do around there. In the evening, we all used to spend time together. It was around Holi season,” Miandad recalled.

“People started playing Holi in the hotel. I remember we even entered Imran Khan’s room and everyone was putting colours on each other. We did not even leave Indian cricketers. They, of course, had no problems,” he added.

The former right-handed batsman further recalled that he picked up Ravi Shastri from his room and threw him in the swimming pool. “Ravi Shastri was hiding himself. We entered his room, and we picked him up and we threw him in the pool. All of us really enjoyed together,” he said.

Miandad further called it as Pakistan’s best tour and said that everyone should participate in each other’s festivals. “It was Pakistan’s best tour. We were invited everywhere. We all celebrated Holi together. Everyone should participate in each other’s festivals. I don’t see no harm in it,” he said.

“I was always thrown in the water. We were pushing each other in the pool. We used to have so much fun,” he signed off.

In his latest video:

"The all time great bowler for me was Dennis Lillee, he was a class bowler on any kind of wicket"

"When Jeff Thomson came on the scene, his action was so open - you could not make out (where he would bowl)"

"Then you had Michael Holding, Joel Garner, Malcolm Marshall, Patterson - West Indies bowling was famous around the world"

"The most difficult bowlers to face for any batsmen in the past was against West Indies bowlers"

"Their whole strength was in their fast bowling - they would bat just once and bowl others out twice - against any team and in any venue"

"We also had a bowling attack, where we had Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram and Imran Khan and this type of pace battery kept on coming through"

"Once you have something great then its logical that you will get people following those examples"

"There are cricketers who dont have the natural talent but have learnt by working hard and following others"

"For those with natural talent we say, look you are a natural talent just stay on the wicket and you will do well"

"You need to think when you are out about why you lost your wicket, why you played a certain shot that got you out - all that needs to be thought about, and then you need to say to yourself that I wont do it again"

"You dont have to worry about other people (as mentors) because they say something, and show you something else and I have not seen qualified people who can do that"

"I have seen few people (mentors) who can actually think - go to such players and learn and ask them for help as that will be very beneficial for you"

One day I will ask Javed why he wanted to mess with the heads of some of the nastiest bowlers in the world!

In his latest video - speaking about the 1978 series I believe.

"There was a time when spinners like Prasanna, Chandrashekar and Bedi used to be feared around the world as spin was the strength of the India team but they were robbed off their strength when they came to Pakistan"

"I recall that Chandrashekar was making life difficult for Zaheer Abbas so he asked me to handle him; Zaheer kept on hitting Bedi and Prasanna and I said to him, please also let me join in as well; I told him I am not taking another run on the last ball as I want to face them too"

"In those days players would look after each other and say if you are having problems with a bowler, then the other batsmen would take on that bowler"

"Sometimes people in the crowd would shout to Bedi - its 12:00pm, then Bedi would humour them and say yes I know"

"Chandrashekar was one bowler you could not play on the front foot with ease"

"The Indian bowlers would be begging for us to stop as each wicket was costing so many runs"

"Against all of these Indian spinners, I would step out after 2nd or 3rd ball and hit them to push the fielders back"

"I used to get very flustered if I wasnt scoring runs"

"To stay at the wicket is easy but a player must know the art of scoring runs also as you are there to score runs and not to occupy the crease"

I don't think fixing cost PAK even a fraction of what the events of March, 2009 at Lahore did. Fixing is part of every sports - in every generation, players did get involved in past and will be caught in future as well. Over 100 years back, players used to bet & fix even in MLB. Against match fixing, administrators have to be strict, fair and decisive - but still there will be fixing in a game like cricket based on huge numbers, but that is what it is.

If anyone to be hanged for cricket ever, it should be those idiots who let not only PAK down, but ICC as well - they managed to peruse a reputed team to travel (to PAK), establishing PCB's credibility to host 2011 WC and those buffoons threw them in front of wolfs with Kalashnikov. That incident was a body blow for PAK cricket - financially ripping the board to pennies, those atrocious UAE tracks sucked blood out of the core of PAK cricket, top players/coaching staffs declined to travel in PAK even on individual capacity and a full decade of isolation denied a generation of kids watching their star players playing, PCB missed the opportunity of making money in a time when cricket economy was booming - it'll have a massive negative consequence in the long run; net net, I'll say PAK cricket had fallen behind by a quarter century for that one disaster.

I am not sure exactly what was the aftermath in democratic PAK, but if someone like Ayub Khan was in charge, indeed some people could have found their neck stuck in waxed rope!!!!!!!

A country accussed of having players rampantly engaged in match fixing is extremely damaging. When players agree to fix important games like finals of tournaments then it hurts. That said, i cannot disagree with you on the impact the 2009 attacks had on Pakistan Cricket.
