The visitors trail 0-2 in the five-match Test series and will be under severe pressure to make their mark in England. Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has done precious little in the Test series so far with many fans and critics questioning his place in Virat Kohli's team. Ahead of the Trent Bridge Test, Pandya shared a picture of him enjoying his day out but that didn't go down too well with some Indian fans.

Pandya hasn't fared too well in the Test series against England so far. In the two innings of the Edgbaston Test, Pandya scored a total of 53 runs and went wicketless in the match.

In the second Test at Lord's where India were drubbed by an innings and 159 runs, Pandya managed scores of 11 and 26 in the two innings. The all-rounder did improve with the ball in hand, accounting for three wickets in England's first innings.

Not just Pandya, barring Virat Kohli, the entire batting line-up has failed to get going. All three openers used so far - Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay and KL Rahul - have looked completely at sea against the swing of the English fast bowlers.

Coach Ravi Shastri had asserted that the struggling batsmen need to show more discipline and grit in the third Test. He admitted that the team has not played well and needed to up their game if they are to make a comeback.

Generally I try to seam it as well, but when you're trying to swing it, you tend to bowl full and driveable balls. I'm not scared of being driven, because if the wickets come, runs don't matter. About Woakes, I tried to bowl the bouncer particularly to Woakes; I got to know he has been dismissed by the short ball a few times. No one likes the short one, never mind how good a batsman you are. I like to use the crease while bowling. If I keep bowling the same way, they'll get used to it. If I go wider, batsman thinks it is coming in, but it might go away, as intended by me, and produce a wicket-ball. Let's not worry about me, I know what I'm doing, and I don't care what people say about me. The team backs me and that's important.

He was always a fan of West Indian lifestyle and looks. There is an incident that he spoke about in one of the shows ( WHat the duck).
When he was a kid , West Indies toured India. After a game, many kids wanted to take West Indies team's autograph. The West Indies team ignored all kids but him since they took him for a West Indian.

Hardik Pandya seen smoking at Sakshi Dhoni's birthday party

Virat Kohli may not be a very happy man if he chances upon a viral video of Hardik Pandya smoking what appears to be a cigarette. The Indian captain insists on eating right and training hard and he expects his men to follow a strict fitness regime to stay in shape for the rigours of international cricket.

Pandya had injured himself during the Asia Cup and since missed the Test, ODI and T20I series against the West Indies. He was also left out of the T20I and Test series in Australia but the all-rounder is a key member of the Indian side and the team management would hope for him to recover in time for the ODIs in January.

Pandya is undoubtedly one of the fittest players in the Indian side. Besides, he is also known for his charisma and fashion off it. Often seen in designer clothes, Pandya was present at Sakshi Dhoni's birthday bash over the weekend.

MS Dhoni, who was left out of the T20I series against West Indies and Australia, partied with Hardik and a few other friends to celebrate Sakshi's 30th birthday.

Pictures and videos of the party went viral on social media.

However, one of the videos show Pandya smoking. This is of course not the first time a cricketer has been spotted smoking. But modern day elite athletes are far more conscious of their image.

Indian cricketers have rarely been seen drinking alcohol - leave alone smoking. Cricketers these days swear by fitness and healthy living - smoking does not do a lot of good to that kind of image building.

Kohli has led India from the front in that regard. Once a foodie, the Delhi boy gave up on fast food. Today, he is a vegan and trains hard to stay in shape.

Pandya is of course not on national duty and Sakshi Dhoni's birthday bash was a private party. However, he is a centrally contracted cricketer.

Players looking to make it back into the Indian team must clear the yo-yo test. If he is considered for the three-match ODI series in Australia in January, let's hope his smoking does not harm his chances of a comeback.

David Ferrer is possibly the fittest tennis player ever, which imo requires fitness much more than cricket, and he is a chain smoker, I think he used to smoke even during breaks. So with training you can overcome the effect of smoking.

Not at all. A lot of people people vape nicotine-free including a couple of my friends. It could very well be the case with Hardik. Even Dhoni loves his hoohak. But it's nothing but flavoured water vapour.

Going back to what I was saying - Pandya is a class act and you should feel blessed to have such a talent in the side with swag as well.
