‘Black Magic’ Caused My Early Return from South Africa: Haris Sohail

Black Magic Caused My Early Return from South Africa: Haris Sohail | propakistani.pk

Pakistan’s emerging middle-order batsman Haris Sohail has reportedly claimed he was under the spell of black magic which caused his early departure from the South Africa tour.

Sohail was released to return to Pakistan after the first Test with his gradually worsening knee injury.

However, BOL News claimed in its report that Sohail had told the team management in South Africa that he feels like he’s under the spell of black magic which is causing this pain in his right knee.

“Haris first told the management before returning home about his fear, and then, instead of joining rehabilitation camp on return, he went to his hometown Sialkot, citing the same reason,” BOL News report claimed.

The report further mentions that the team management has decided to sweep Haris’ claim under the carpet and not to bring it up on media, understanding the mental stress he is going through.

As per the report, Haris also told media that back in 2015, during the New Zealand tour, ‘supernatural forces’ had compelled him to change the hotel room and later caused his early exit from the tour with the injury.

Though there are no confirmations about the claim either from Haris Sohail or the board, one thing is clear here that our cricketers also need psychological cushions along with the physical training to cope with stressful situations.

Website in question doesn't ring a ball.

Is this legit?

Guys for all we know this could just be cheap reporting to get some ratings. Their are no quotes from anyone. It's a report merely implying something with not even a single quote or comment from anyone.

All that has happened is haris injured himself during the warm up and he has returned home. That Is all there is. We should respect our international cricketers and feel for him. He has suffered a lot of injuries but has always tried his best for our nation.

I would advise taking this report with a pinch of salt, BOL news is in no way credible .

Masala news. And never trust bol.

Besides

Even if it was real, more than 90% people in Pak do actually believe in black magic. Likely the case in IND as well.

That does not make them mentally unstable. Just someone with ancient old thoughts.

As long as he's fit he performs well for us and that's what matters.

No need to take a moral high stand just because you're in that small educated minority who doesn't believe in blackmagic.

The media has handled this episode in a really pathetic manner.

Ranging from former cricketers and self-proclaimed experts spewing venom on TV shows, to outright fake news - At this point, nothing is unexpected.

It has probably been subjected to media exaggeration, but I think it is nonsense to suggest and assume that it is a completely fabricated story and there is no element of truth to it. Why would the media cook up a story about black magic in the first place and then associate it with Haris Sohail out of the blue?

The testament of Haris Sohail's close source means absolutely nothing.

No one in his or her right mind is going to come out and acknowledge it. Obviously they have to cover it up to prevent the story from blowing up.

This is the second time in the last four years that he has been associated with a bizarre story. From being traumatised by a hotel ghost in Christchurch during the 2015 World Cup and now this. No one is naive enough to believe there is no fire at all behind this smoke and it is 100% media fantasy.

Why a hotel ghost, why black magic, and more importantly, why Haris Sohail on both occasions?

I am beginning to think that Pakistan cricket needs to move on from him. He could clearly have been a really good player for Pakistan for many years, but he is almost 30 with dodgy knees and some underlying psychological problem. As a result, he cannot be relied upon on and off the field.

Mental illness is scoffed at in this country, so it is perfectly understandable why Haris or sources close to him are not willing to come out in the open. However, this where the PCB needs to step in. Even if he is not in their long-term plans, it is imperative that they link him up with a leading psychiatrist and psychologist in the country.

This is bigger than his cricket career; it could potentially have very severe long-term consequences, and he should be given all the support that he needs. However, it is time to cut short his international career.

I suspect a player in the side has been leaking inside information and Bol has made their own version of the story.

Pakistan players need to stop talking to these low life journalists who don't care about the fortunes of the side but rather more concerned with fulfilling their agendas.

The story is a complete fabrication.

This is exactly what I suspect as well. I don't think it's a pure media fantasy but what concerns me is how this information has come to surface. Another player sharing the same dressing room is probably leaking this kind of stuff to the media.

He is a very good batsman, it’s sad what is becoming of His career. Although it isn’t his fault. I have. Afeeling certain lobbies don’t want him to succeed.

Then the media's obsession of linking spooky stories with Haris Sohail needs some thorough investigation.

The media and some experts have an obsession with writing fake news about Haris Sohail. Why that is, is up for debate.

First they claimed that Haris was injured before going to SA. That's not true.

Then they claimed that the operating procedure he went under wasn't successful, thus he got injured again. Not true, it's his other knee.

Then they claimed that he was faking the injury. Doesn't even need a rebuttal.

Now this.

I find it really strange why they would link the same player with spooky stories over and over again.

The 2015 story about Haris seemingly being traumatised due to a supernatural experience has been blown way out of proportion.

He wasn't the only cricketer to have claimed this. The likes of Broad and Watson also claimed to have gone through such incidents but no one really batted an eyelid, it was news for a while and people moved on.

But in typical Pakistani style, our media has not let this go. Just six months ago, Sikandar Bakht was saying on TV that Haris hasn't made any big scores due to jinns and bhoots. And now this new 'story'.

Because they have the 2015 episode to fall back on.

The truth, is that our media likes targeting people with a weak side. They have seen his weak side, when he admitted to seeing a ghost and falling sick because of it.

Exactly, you will see that many analysts and experts are generally quite contemptuous of him regardless of his performances.

Majority of the population believes in ghosts and magic.

Even if they're university graduates.

Haris is not from some elite class with upbringing at a UK school. He's also part of the same population. What's so wrong and odd EVEN if he believes in that stuff?

Folks acting shocked either don't live in PAK or belong to too elite of a class.

He might be scared, depressed or full of anxiety. Each of those extreme situations leads to such behavior. It has happened twice and may be it is high time he visits a doctor. He can continue to deny it to the media but not to himself

The only haris stories i believe are the ones about career threatening knee injuries

Pathetic. Who knows if it's true, but even so, this stuff shouldn't be made public.

There a few media outlets and media persons who don't like Haris and are continually looking to write negative stuff about him or make up negative stories about him.

Usually this happens when a player won't give that media inside information from the dressing room.

Have no faith on the media in Pakistan. They lack credibility.
Pak media are sellouts who would sell themselves to the highest bidder. There leaks and reports are partly responsible for the bad shape Pakistan cricket is in.

If Pakistan team is doing badly the media gets to benefit which is why they are more interested in dressing room leaks and backroom information rather than reporting that could be constructive. They say that they want to help but they don't mean it. Media has made sure Pakistan's interests are damaged.

I don't follow any of the current sports anchors.

I agree. I think we have other younger players that we can invest in now. He has not only had a this love affair with paranormal stuff but his dodgy knee is hurting the team real bad. I would rather give someone like Usman Salahuddin or Saad Ali more chances over Haris Sohail now. With Sohail, I always have a feeling that a bigger injury is just around the corner. He doesn't look fit either.

I remember there was similar news where he mentioned that djinns are bothering him.

I don’t want to hurt any feelings but really Pak cricketers need media training. Lobbying via friends in media and ex players creates factions in the team. I know Indian cricketers avoid media unless it’s for some ad/brand promotion. A friend of mine who is a marketing head for a clothing brand met Virat Kohli regarding endorsement, he told me Virat Kohli is a very shrewd guy when it comes to his dealings. He has cut throat business mentality, knows his worth and won’t give a **** unless you pay him(even for charity). Sachin was even worse. Pak cricketers (sarfaraz, Hafeez) seems more innocent to me.

Reading this stuff is making it hard for me to sleep! Him and Zulqarnain Haider were two very bizarre charactt

Very sad because haris sohail seems like a very humble and straightforward person.

Majority of Pakistani believe in it and are also affiliated to some sort of peer ghadi, they all openly give dua, taveez/tagha in reference to **** jadoo. Most of the cricketers visit these people before matches for define help. I wouldn't be suprised if this isn't the case here, end of the day we seldom except that luck plays its part in our lives for some of us Pakistani if its good its always the all mightys doin, if its not good its someone or something else to blame
