Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has called for an immediate ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, as protests continue across the world against Israeli attacks on the Palestinian city of Gaza, which have now killed more than 900 Palestinians and injured thousands.
As I've seen heartbreaking news in recent days, my focus is on Palestinian and Israeli children who have been severely affected by the war situation, Yousafzai said in a statement.
Malala recalled her childhood calling for a ceasefire and wrote, I was only 11 years old when I saw an atmosphere of terrorism and violence around me, early in the morning we used to wake up with the sound of mortar shells.
Today I am saddened by all the children and people who seek peace and justice in the Holy Land, the activist wrote.
War always affects children, whether they are children raised from Israeli homes or hiding in Gaza for fear of air strikes or facing food and water shortages, malala said.
