Has media hype ruined Pakistan players?

:ROFLMAO: Just listen to the the damn music in the video, it's not a horror thriller for sakes.
Don't worry, South Africa will give us a warm happy Halloween welcome soon enough

Trick or treat. Pakistan will try to trick, and south africa will give us the 400 treat.

They need to work on afridis line and length if he's bowling straight rather making these videos

That first ball is a definite 4 runs

I believe its more about pakistan's fast bowling which has been hyped to enormous proportions by media. Whereas no one rates pakistani batters so high, babar and rizwan are just rated good bur not among greats.

How?

The king stands tall commentator goo goo ga ga nonsense. The whole babar is no less then Don Bradman comments and rizzu is top 3 batsmen on the planet atm statement by anil kumble?

^^ How is that not overrating lol.

I have been curious about this too, why is Kumble making these overrating comments about Pakistan team? What is the the incentive for Kumble?

Idk man, anil was probably hyped to the moon like the rest after rizzu 131 against Sri Lanka.

He probably thought rizzu was facing mcgrath 😂

The rest of the world sees Babar and Rizwan as top tier batsmen.

Two great examples:
- The documentary series Cricket Australia released covering a few years span after the sand paper saga. There’s almost an entire episode dedicated to Babar and how impossible it was to get him out.
- Look at the videos of all the cricket teams making their World XI for the World Cup. In most cases Babar gets slotted in as a batsmen at #4 after Kohli at #3.

That’s not Pakistani media hype, that’s what other players who have played against Babar feel.

The issue with most anti-Babar and anti-Rizwan arguments is they at the end of the day it’s being asked that we listen to random people on a forum over cricketing legends, sports analysts, the stats, and even other players on other teams who have played against them.

Like at the end of day, it’s pretty simple, I’ll always find find it difficult to trust anonymous people on a forum over what Vivian Richards sees when he watches Babar bat.

what about what sohaib Akhtar sees? Or what wasim akram sees? Or what Kumar Sangakara sees? Do you not trust their judgement?

Just like us on forums, these ex cricketers make extremely various branching narrative statements so who exactly are you trusting? Which statement are you trusting?

All of them? Or only the ones that biasely appeal to you? If you trust all of them then that makes no logical sense, cause one legend like samgakara and Abdul razzaq is outright stating Babar is not a legend that people have made him out to be, but other legends are claiming he's the 2nd coming of Bradman for odi?

Either way you're biased if you trust certain cricketers for Babar. These ex cricketer opinions are no different from forumn users. They also make various conflicting statements with each and every cricketer saying something opposite from each other.

Also what some cricketers like viv see in Babar and what some cricketers like razzaq don't see does not matter. Results matter, that's all. It's been 7 years and Babar can't play spin or dominate bowling attacks or has ever actually played any iconic innings.

I rewatched the wc NZ innings and so called iconic Babar bashing steyn and stark hype that people generated. What Babar did wasn't domination. He hung in their and took the team home with the 79 to 81 SR. He anchored and pulled through, that's not domination.

What de villers did to West Indies, what kphli did to Pakistan last year and this Asia cup alongside Rahul, what gilchrist use to do, thats domination.

I don't know why some experts rating them like this, whereas in reality everyone knows about the abilities of pak batsmans.

They've been doing forever. Media drama bazi. Ex cricketers are no different.

The issue is that we completely disagree on what we have seen. What I watched was Babar destroy Dale Steyn in a way I haven’t seen anyone else do, although of course it was near the end of his career and not his prime.

Babar’s 101* not out in the World Cup game on an incredibly slow pitch against New Zealand was incredible. The same New Zealand team crushed India not that long after, after scoring a similar first innings score. You say this isn’t domination but it’s because you guys use completely made up definitions of domination. Domination is easily defeating a good team. In fact I don’t even care if you “dominate” I care about winning.

The 152-0 knock against India from him and Rizwan is absolutely one of the most iconic and memorable Pakistan knocks ever because it was the first time Pakistan won a WC match against India and it was done in such dominant fashion. I’m not sure what else you call dominating? You literally beat your biggest rivals in a WC game when none of your legends have ever managed to win a WC game against India before and you do it easily without losing a single wicket.

Rizwan and Babar also went not out and set the record for the highest chase in T20 ever without losing a wicket which was 200 against England. They have the two highest partnership totals ever when chasing in T20 history.

The same year in 2022, Pakistan had their highest ODI chase ever and Babar won MOM for scoring 114 (83) and carrying us the whole way through.

Babar has the most T20s 100s from any player from Asia ever. Babar has 3 T20i 100s, only 2 other Pakistan players have ever managed to score a single one. Babar is one century away from being tied for most ODI 100s by a Pakistani batsmen. And he’s played less than half of the innings Saed Anwar played who is currently number 1.

I generally don’t listen to people who have an obvious bias like Pakistani ex cricketers do. Same way I wouldn’t listen to Ghambir’s opinion of Kohli cause he absolutely despises him. The most important what do Babar’s peers think of him? Why do almost all the current players rate so highly? Why do you think the best bowlers of our era say such big and great things about Babar?
The issue is that you, like a lot of Babar haters, care more about vibes and feelings than results. I judge players by runs and wins. For you Babar’s 101* to beat the eventual finalist on an extremely slow pitch is not good/“dominating”, but if Fakhar Zaman went out and scored 50(27) and got out and still lost the game to would rate that innings higher because he was “dominating.” The same reason why so many posters on this forum are making excuses for England, because at least they play “dominant cricket” even though they’re #9 and at risk of falling below Netherlands to #10.

No, Babar Azam is not as good as Virat Kohli. But he is by far the best LOI batsmen Pakistan has ever had and at this point his only real competition by the end of his career for best Pakistani batsmen will be Miandad. There’s a reason why he is rated so highly by all of his peers and great bowlers who have bowled to him.

The thing is I’ve given up on trying to convince Babar haters, they want him to give them a feeling. I just simply don’t care about that “feeling”, I want a player who scores runs and win matches. And then best thing is, Babar’s performances have already convinced the biggest legends of the game and all of his peers.

First of quit this semantical narrative drama. Someone disagreeing with you, doesn't give them an obvious bias like you're claiming. You're outright contradicting yourself by claiming they have an obvious bias but kohli is superior to babar, however these ex cricketers have a brilliant mind. Their claiming babar is no less then Don Bradman. Bradman was the greatest of his era, Babar isn't and won't be as long as kohli is their to mock him and then Gill is their to take over. Is the babar is no less then Bradman claim not obvious bias?

Just state you don't like listening to anyone who says anything about babar so you'll label them a hater 😂😂

"The issue is that you, like a lot of Babar haters, care more about vibes and feelings than results. "

let me settle this haters drama, What on earth does the term haters even mean? No genuinely I'm curious. What is a hater for you? Someone who doesn't see your viewpoint about someone? Because then you've gotten your description really screwed considering you choose Pakistan 11's for your fantasy support 24/7. I'm not a hater because I'm not living on cloud 9. The whole I trust what the ex cricketers see drama and you only care about visuals is a completly untrue argument and I can easily tear jt apart.

Read my argument properly results, it's all I care about 😪, not this hater hater boom boom 6 drama that babar cares about by literally jumping over the moon once a hit in pp1 has been.

^^ Do you want me to address this properly and all the scores you've blasted me with? I will do so very very respectfully, calmly and will have an open discussion with you mutually agreeing to disagreeing. I don't mind.

But only if this hater hater Cultist drama stops. That argument is beyond redundant at this point because anytime I bring up a logical argument the opposing side backtracks by saying something completly irrelevant such as oH well I listen to Ex cricketers but not hater ex cricketers. What you hate and who you hate is something completly subjective, not gonna spoon feed even more subjectivity into someone if that's the case. Only hear to talk facts, and not support support emotional drama that people like you and Technics have going on

To be honest, I don’t think it’s a useful discussion since it’s been had so many times already. For me a hater is someone who finds fault even in good moments and things. For example, your criticism of Babar’s 101* on a really slow pitch against a team that went on to crush India and make the finals to me seems like hating.

But no hard feelings brother, I did not mean the term hater in an offensive manner, and I apologize if it came across as such. Maybe we will continue this discussion after the South Africa match.

To be fair to you, I think you are someone who actually changes their mind when presented with other evidence and are willing to have a good discussion. It’s only some other people who literally will find fault in everything Babar does, which is why sometimes I get frustrated with the whole argument. But no disrespect intended, we both just want the best for Pakistani team and think that the way to accomplish that is different.

Yh we'll continue after sa match ❤️❤️. Also no worries. I didn't take any offence. I just wanted a clarification of what the exact term of hater even meant. Since everyone throws it around too much with zero context.

We'll continue after, but just to clarify the 101 innings isn't me finding a fault with babar's innings. It's a quality innings. Never said it wasn't. But that's not domination. Winning a Game doesn't mean domination lol. Domination with India did to Pakistan in Asia cup and World cup. Its usually a team effort but in the asia cup, its one of the few moments where its just a kohli and Rahul show.

Babar has dominated 3x only in his career, all those times being in t20 only, against not ideal bowling, although tbf, the bowling in Asia cup to India was also toothless, but the bowling to 2022 kohli in world cup wasn't and still the same result was achieved.

You should blame agents for this. Paid PR campaigns, constant comparisons, and tall claims by farig indian obsessed hyper-nationalist Pakistanis, who claim they are better than Sachin, Kohli, Bumbrah, Gilchrist, etc., have caused this massive backlash now.

Pakistani media doesn't hype them to the moon. It's the result of paid PR campaigns by agents and 5th generation farig social media fan clubs.

You can not play him, champions trophy final, Babar azam better than Kohli blah blah...are typical social media posts by stupid Pakistanis who are overly obsessed with India.

It's the result of paid PR campaigns by agents and 5th generation farig social media fan clubs.
It's the same in India. Even guys like Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad seem to have such PR campaigns and fan clubs, let alone guys like Kohli, Rohit etc.

Now that the game is over, I'll explain my points. Don't worry I won't make it too long.

Babar's Match winning innings

in terms of odi, I'm not taking anything away from Bobby. Nz 2019 innings is good. My disagreement is domination. Your points on results =/= dominating.

Dominating is what kohli and Rahul did to Pakistan, or what Butler has done countless times to the opposition or heck even fakhar's 180 against NZ this year. What babar did isn't domination. Babar last dominated West Indies with a triple century across 3 games, but wi is a toothless attack. Credit to babar is that unlike rizzu who accumulates against minnows, Babar bullies minnows.

Ex Cricketer comments

I don't know what everyone has said but viv didn't say babar is a goat. He considers him a quality bat who has yet to fully Blossom, which is true. Babar hasn't reached a ceiling yet and is clearly undercooked.

As for the Bradman comparison. Bradman comparison is for players like viv, Sachin etc. Bradman was the best batter in his era, same with viv being the best better in his era. Amd this isn't because oh phony ranks or useless stats. Anyone with 2 eyes can see it. Bobby is not the best in his era. Not as long as kohli is still around. He has never been the best in his era.

The Pakistan outdated approach

My issue with babar isn't that he's bad or that I'm overly harsh on him as a batsmen. My issue is that modern era cricket is a simple approach.

While batting first try to score as much as humanely possible and while chasing try to bring the run rate down as much as possible.

Pakistan team does not do that. On batting first, they set a target in mind and play according to that, and that target in mind is usually a below par target. While chasing they believe in ducking for 30 overs and trying to chase 150 to 170 in last 20.

^^ But unless the attack is toothless like Sri lanka, this approach won't work against semi decent bowling as Australia exposed it. This isn't t20, the ball is older now, the fielders are up and very likely a few wickets have fallen. In t20 pp1 rules are still in play and all batsmen are fresh with 20 wickets in hand lol.

It's an outdated and weak approach overall and India will beat us 10 out of 10 times with this approach lol so will NZ and Australia.

My issues with Babar

My issues with babar are the same as my issues with the entire team except fakhar and chacha and saud. These 3 aren't the best but they try to play modern cricket. Chacha today got out trying to play an attacking shot. Fakhar has played innings babar can only dream of, especially his 194 and the match winning 114 in ct 2017.

Babar is clearly more talented then these 2 and has the potential to bash, but he doesn't. Against Nepal while chacha was bashing from the get go, Babar didn't attack Nepal until he already got his 100, then he Accelerated his last 50. Why? He's clearly talented enough to Bully crap bowling, like his 49 ball 100 against sa? But he only played that knock cause the target was 200.

Against Nepal and plenty of times babar will deliberately slow down not caring about rr just to get his milestone. And he's a stay in my comfort zone player.

Rohit sharma for years was memed for being a slow medicore middle order bat who can't play swing and can't play the old ball and can't play long innings. Basically he was seen as india's version of umar akmal, a pinch hitting hack. What does rohit do? He comes into opening where it swings the most and butchers pp1 like anything, hitting 38 sixes of 46 in pp1 of the past 1000 balls whereas all of Pakistan team combined have hit only 2? This is the definition of leaving your comfort zone.

Babar's biggest criticism was that he's slow, takes time to settle and if the platform is set by openers he ruins it when coming in, he needs the openers to depart early so he himself can set the platform. So what does babar do? He stays in his comfort zone by opening in t20 because in t20 opening he can take time to settle and then get going amd play the same way he usually does. God forbid he comes in at over 7 or 8 and has only 12 overs to establish himself? No trying to improve his weakness, just gotta hog for the milestone.

Look at his innings and his 50's in the last 3 games? Are you satisfied with the way he olayed? Now look at kohli, makram etc, Kuldeep made fun of Bobby by saying that every bowler attacks him but with babar, babar doesn't attack just milks so kuldeep kept bowling the same line over and over cause babar wasn't attacking and the game was chill lol.

#BabarAzamIsOurRedLine is trending on twitter with some comments saying PCB HQ will be set on fire if he is removed as captain.
Where is this going?

I want babar and rizwan to open in next match.if they can open in T20 why can't they do same in ODI.
Babar
Rizwan
Agha salman
Saud
Iftikhar
