Has Mohammad Amir's pace fallen since returning to cricket?

Before play today Waqar Younis was having a long and animated chat with Mohammad Amir, he was really giving it to him. I asked Waqar what he was saying to him, his response "reminding him of his strengths, reminding him of how good he can be and trying to inspire him"

Gotta love Vicky! He is so passionate about Pakistan cricket and good on him to lay it all out for Amir. I think Amir needs such a dressing down!

Well i really hope Amir got some really needed inspiration from the legend.

The most logical person to coach Amir right now appears to be Wasim, the king of that inswinger into the right handers. and its not like he has to teach algebra to someone poor at basic maths..Amir was doing that regularly before his band, occasionally when he made his comeback and then lost it completely.

Guiding him on what he was doing with his wrist, release and left arm trajectory before he lost it should be much easier than teaching that to someone like Wahab who never managed to do that throughout his career.

I think all the coaching in the world still can’t fix some mental issues and attitude flaws of sportsmen.. the solution is either a proper motivational conditioning or a dressing down in some cases.. I think Waqar realizes what Amir needs more at this time.. I think he is right!

I don't get the hype regarding Amir. He is only a good T20 bowler, nothing else. People still treat him as if he is the next big thing, lol, just like Umar Akmal was treated few years ago despite his failures.

Amir had all the skills in the book. They don’t just go away. They require conditioning from time to time. Amir was a wonderful bowler across all platforms.. he needs to sort out his priorities and find that motivation that inspired him to bowl well in the past.

Need Waqar as the bowling coach.

Azhar has RUINED our bowling.

Waqar was saying today that the issues with Amir are mental and his confidence is really low.

It's surprising that someone who has made his way back into the Pakistan team after what he went through is suffering such a shortage of confidence.

Always wondered that myself. Someone in his situation should really really cherish the second chance and really give it his all.
Don’t really get where the “shortage in confidence” is coming from. It sounds like a cop out..

Lack of wickets

We need a coach who doesn’t over coach our fast bowlers and motivates them on the mental side of things. Our bowlers are getting too timid. They need a mentor like who Imran used to mentor his bowlers. “Take the ball or phaar do jaake” .. don’t worry about wides. Bowl quick and take wickets.

He should be asked to earn his stripe, iron out his issues in domestic cricket and get wickets and then stake a claim for a recall.

Anyone can take wickets in our domestic cricket. He will come back in less than 2 months.

Whose place in the side Aamir is blocking? At the moment he looks like the best of the lot, and we have many before him we can replace with other testable options.

Wasim on commentary there “the batsman will run the two here because the fielder is Amir and he doesn’t have a strong arm/shoulder”.

This about a player who was bowling 90mph+ as a teenager.

Today was better...bowled a couple of 88mph ones.. Hes still down on pace and cant get it to come back in the RHs but his commitment was evident today.. He bowled his heart out.

The body language in the last few overs tho, clearly depicted a man whos unsure of himself at the moment.
