Playing a test series before a major tournament hosted in England has its merits. It trains the players against the moving ball and batting in challenging/ adverse conditions something similar to English conditions. It also prepares the bowlers to ball traditional lengths while focusing on swinging the ball and getting batsmen out rather than containing runs. Overall a good move made by the Pakistani administrators in scheduling the series. West Indies team also has a similar advantage, however their ODI side will be drastically different from the test outfit.

Playing a test series improves techniques rather than playing a T20 tournament wherein everyone slogs every other ball.

Yea man I was thinking the same thing. Rest of teams like Australia and India will come to CT on back of slogging and death bowling form while Pakistan will play on the back of disciplined bowling and batting.

Pretty much.

And where have we been? The ruddy IPL, that's where!

Yes, people playing IPL will be in for a rude shock when confronted with swing. Playing conventional cricket will fetch more runs than wild alogs.
