Has Sarfaraz Ahmed's batting suffered due to his poor fitness?

Mickey Arthur publically humiliated Wahab, Umar Akmal for doing the bare minimum and for not meeting his fitness benchmarks but my question is why is he turning a blind eye to the paunches of Sarfaraz Ahmed and Imad Wasim?

Not sure what example Sarfaraz is setting for the rest of the team when he turns up with a paunch. I believe his batting has suffered ever since he let himself go. It is clear that this guy cannot let go of the Nihari's, Karhai's, Biryani.

His batting has suffered because he doesn't take his batting & his fitness seriously anymore

He is too complacent as a player. His keeping has only improved in this series.

Results from previous fitness tests are public so it’s pretty dumb to say Mickey is turning a blind eye.

Too much is made out of his fitness... if he really was that unfit he wouldn't be diving around taking blinders like he did in the last test.

His lack of runs is due to his lack of batting form, and possibly fatigue, since he not only has to keep but also has to captain and then come out and score runs. That is too much to handle for any human.

he could not play a straight ball today, bas sida bat rakhna ta samnay

Sarfraz is struggling becsuse hes trying to smash his way out of bad form. Needs to give himself some time at the crease and play with more responsibility. Still the best wicket-keeper batsman in Pakistan, no matter what anyone says.

I've mentioned before here...he's just too much into his own hype.
Sarf the 'one who gets on with it' blah blah...
Sarf this is test cricket not Odis or T20...
Adapt your game.

He’s batting with the wrong mindset. Looked alright out there today but then played one shot too many.

He arrives at the crease with no intention of staying rather going into overdrive mode straightaway. He is all the time keep talking about playing positive cricket and seems to have crossed the line and overdoing it.

He is capable to grind it out but needs to put his head down.

No his game is suffering because of his technical limitations.

Always an average cricketer who has over achieved. Time to move on and invest in younger, fitter options who don't crumble when given a bat to hold.

Just not good enough - this is his level, couple of years were a purple patch when he was lucky enough to play lots of games in Asia. If I can recall, he played in SAF 2013 series as well and looked even worse than this, when he was 5 years younger and at least 10 kg fitter.

Batsmen out of form doesn't get regular scores between 10 to 25. Apart from couple of swash buckling cameos (59* Gabba, 72* SCG), he has very little to show outside Asia.

Some stats (Avg in Tests):

Over last 8 matches = 23.92 (3 fifties)
Over last 23 matches = 30.61 (7 fifties)

After first 18 matches = 50.3 (3 hundreds, 7 fifties)

Been on a steady decline for a while.

The harsh truth is he isn't good enough as a batsmen. Even in the last few months he has struggled against spin which is supposed to be his strength. He also has temperamental issues, gets a start than plays a rash shot.

He is one lucky guy right now as Pakistan just don’t have many captain-options. From the current lot only Shadab looks like a future captain but PCB doesn’t want to put preassure on a guy who is still not completely settled.

His responsibilities need to be lightened . He certainly should not be and doesn;t deserve to be part of all three formats , certainly not as captain.
