Personally winning matches matter me the most even contribution is little, but its been a log time we have someone at top of the rankings in odis or tests.

So who do you think will achieve it first. Or someone else?

Hasan .10 wickets in the next 3games is probably enough
Assuming avg performance of those above him atm

Thanks i had a quick look. Could get tight if babar keeps churning them out

As he gets closer to #1, he will find it harder.

Realistically Hasan has an easier path to #1 but then again, Pakistan's ODI bowlers are all taking wickets so Hasan won't be getting any freebies. :kapil

Hasan should get there first. 3 years ago who would have imagined we would be having this discussion. Especially regarding a Pakistani batsman becoming number 1 ODI batsman. lol

I hope Babar gets it, but it seems very hard. The guys above him except Sharma (especially the top three, Kohli, Warner,AB) are better batsmen at this point, they have similar averages but they finish games, score at high strike rates when needed. Babar's not the same level yet though one day I think he will be.

Hasan Ali I feel more likely to get there, the way he bowls, he's always threatening. Can't remember the last time he went wicketless. In fact in terms of getting wickets think he's the most threatening bowler after Starc. And the bowling attack to partner Hasan only helps him, as they don't give out many runs which doesn't let teams just play out Hasan Ali.

So yeah think Hasan will get it first.

Its tough for both to get to no. 1 ranking (Specially even after this series) But Hasan Ali has a slight edge. Still we all know Babar Azam is very much capable of hitting 5 consecutive tons. So, lets wait and watch...

I already knew he would be #1, look at my past posts on Babar.

Him and Harris are must in the ODI set up, yet Harris continues to be benched

I think babar only needs one more hundred in this series to become the number 1 batsman

It also depends on the rankings if opposition players. If the batsmen are ranked higher than the bowlers, Hassan will have it easier and vice versa.

Let's hope we get to see both get to the top in the next few months. For that to happen, Tahir and Kohli need to have a few failures.

Hassan Ali has won it. No 1 bowler. Surprisingly Hafeez no 1 allrounder. Now, Babar get no1 batsman and we will have the holy trinity.

Hasan Ali gets there first. Now the question is who will stay there the longest? :)

Was always obvious and this isn't an insult to Babar. Hasan has ODIs figured out to a better extent than Babar who still needs to learn to keep up momentum at the start, will come with time iA.

Was so excited to check the news this morning, feels like I've achieved this ranking lol, guess it happens when you support a player for so long.

Hassan needs to stay there until the next World Cup. Starc is injured all the time, Tahir has subcontinent teams to contend with and Rabada is inconsistent. Hassan needs to keep his performances up and take advantage of the situation.

Babar getting to #1 is pretty difficult. ABD is a legend and won't be outperformed whilst Kohli, Warner, de Kock and Amla are also tough competitors with a propensity for big hundreds.

Especially regarding a Pakistani batsman becoming number 1 ODI batsman. lol

Pakistanis underestimate Babar Azam.. I can list quite a few matches now where Babar was holding one end and saved us from collapse.. For a team like Pakistan he doesnt need to play like AB or Kohli.. We usually chase 240-260 (even in past too when we had Ajmal) laikin Babar jaisa koi batsman nahi tha..

Both have been on very very impressive runs lately. Future looks good for pakistan. Hopefully these will be the pioneers to inspire the next generations of pak cricketers. 😀
