Hasan Ali, Asghar Afghan & Rashid Khan fined for breaching ICC Code of Conduct in separate incidents

Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali, and Afghanistan’s duo of Asghar Afghan and Rashid Khan have all been fined 15 per cent of their match fees.

They have also received one demerit point each for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct in separate incidents during their Super-Four match in the Asia Cup in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Hasan and Asghar were found guilty of breaching Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game”, while Rashid was found to have violated Article 2.1.7, which deals with “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”

Afghan brushed his shoulder with the bowler Hasan in the 37th over as he passed him while taking a run

While Hasan and Rashid have received demerit points for the first time, it is the second occasion that Asghar has been handed a demerit point within a 24-month period. In February 2017, Asghar received a reprimand and one demerit point for showing dissent against an umpire’s decision in an ODI against Zimbabwe. As such, he now has two demerit points.

The incident involving Hasan happened in the 33rd over of Afghanistan’s innings when he threatened to throw the ball towards striker Hashmatullah Shahidi after fielding off his own bowling.

As regards the incident involving Asghar, the Afghanistan captain brushed his shoulder with the bowler Hasan in the 37th over as he passed him while taking a run.

Rashid was charged and fined for giving a sendoff to Asif Ali in the 47th over of Pakistan’s innings

Rashid was charged and fined for giving a sendoff to Asif Ali in the 47th over of Pakistan’s innings by holding up a finger and staring at the batsman, an action that could have provoked an aggressive reaction from the departing batsman.

After the match, all the three players pleaded guilty to the offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees and, as such, there was no need for a formal hearing

The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Anil Chaudhary and Shaun George, third umpire Rod Tucker and fourth umpire Anis-ur-Rahman.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

Why was Rashid fined? The clowns in the ICC won't stop until cricket is made a bland, robotic sport without any hint of human expression.

:)))

Someone show Rashid Khan's IPL millions to ICC so they stop fining him for breaching conduct because muhh IPL millions, nothing else matters.

And some people in the other thread were saying "Oh nothing wrong with Rashid's attitude. Pakistani fans are just jealous that he is a millionaire".

Glad that Cricket's apex body agrees with the saner posters on this glorious forum.

I still dont have any issues with Rashid's attitude tbh. I know they breach ICC's conduct but personally i think he has all right to be like that.

However, quoting someone IPL millions like those were their own is so cringe worthy and hilarious at the same time. :)))

:))) exactly. Thats so cringe worthy. As if he pays them from those millions.

Hasan Ali should of been fined 100% match fee....
Cant get anymore arrogant then this guy

Minor, heat of the battle.

In the end all this bravado counts for nothing if your team loses.

The captain was rightly fined for getting physical. I pity the poster who wrote about jealousy due to millions made by Rashid. You are pitiful

Someone fine the ICC.

This is ridiculous. All good, harmless emotions. Cricket will die without it. It's already boring for the majority of the world.

Might as well give bowlers (and batsmen) a blindfold and cigarette.

Pathetic.

Hasan Ali and Asghar getting fined is a bit much.

Rashid's case was a clear breach.

Asghar getting fined is understandable because his involvement was physical but Hassan and Rashid do not deserve these fines.

Hasan deserved a fine just based off his idiotic celebration off a no ball and making himself look like a clown.
