What's new

Hasan Ali's terrible ICC World Cup 2019 performances with the ball

Hasan was very poor, with little control and an even poorer Bowling strategy. But he will be back and hopefully come back stronger.

2 wickets for 256 runs at an average of 128 and an economy rate of 7.75.

I just feel his game intensity has gone. There are some technical issues also and that zip in his bowling isn't there.

Only he knows the reasons behind this.

And if it was up to me, I wouldn't give him an NOC for the Euro T20 Slam - instead I would tell him to get his behind to the NCA and work there day and night on his bowling, iron out the issues he is currently having and get his head sorted out.

NO!
What sort of communist thinking is this?
Pcb can refuse him a renewal to a pcb contract, if he doesn't meet their standards, but they can't refuse him, morally, of making a living!!
Heck, pcb can even terminate his current contract, if they feel he is not meeting the standards required, oops, i bet they have not written such a clause in the contract!!!

I still think he’s 6 inches too short to be a specialist bowler in ANY format.

He needs to practise like crazy......on his batting.

Just like Steve Smith was never going to make it as a leggie, Hasan Ali needs to understand that his international future is as a Number 6 batsman who can average 40 with the bat and bowl 10 steady overs per day to give the 3 (outside Asia) or 2 (in Asia) Specialist Quicks a breather.

A rich mans pandya!!!☺
An average of 40 is too much, i would take an average of 30.
But yes i think you may well be right, good analysis by you sir!!

He definitely has the talent with the bat.

He can hit those big sixes which Pakistan needs.

Hasan has probably been told this since the age of 12/13. For him to get where he's got to suggests monstrous heart and talent.

Write him off at your peril.

You aren't going to turn him into an all rounder nor should he even consider sacrificing ball for bat at this stage.

Agree. He can make his bowling work.

As always - huge investments made in young players like Hasan so PCB needs to sit him down and get him specialist one on one help; This could be sending him to Australia to work with a coach away from Pakistan cricket etc

Yes he can make a living, but the number of NOCs he gets is down to PCB.

Also he's an asset the PCB has invested in, invested heavily in and they have every right to look after their investment and in my opinion if that means stopping him from playing in T10 or T20 leagues then so be it.

He needs to focus on improving his game at the NCA. Going to these T20 leagues is pointless for his career.

He needs to stop playing these stupid T20 leagues and focus and play in 50 over domestic and england county tournaments. Needs to bat at 6 and I believe he has it in him to become a genuine allrounder Pakistan has been missing.

Well truth is his bowling has been found out, He is not quick enough for someone who is like 5'10. So he has basically no margin of error if he misses his length or line.

Hasan was on fire in CT 2017. He was shockingly ineffective this time. It was surprising because UK pitches were supposed to suit his type of bowling.

Maybe it is just a form thing.

Hasan Ali still has tonnes of potential and is quite young. He just needs to go back to pitching the ball up, using his variations and being given confidence and a plan. Sometimes he has the new ball, some times he won't come in till the 15th over etc. Give the guy a plan and work on it.
