Hassan Ali: The batsman

A good hitter without much technique or thinking behind it. A better balance of defence and attack may transform him in to a number seven batsman in time. The likes of Imran Khan and Richard Hadlee started as proper tailenders before climbing up the batting order. Often gets dismissed to a stupid shot after getting off to a good start.

Hasan is what comes to mind when someone says pure, natural hitting talent. Wiry frame, unrestricted bat swing and easy power.

Atm, he seems to have the ability to hit most balls around, but struggles against a short, quick one. Maybe he needs to develop an uppercut kind of shot to combat the fact that he's late on the bouncer most times, instead of a pull/hook which requires you pick up the length quickly to get into position. Excellent late-order utility either way.

I wouldn't change a thing about him at the moment apart from letting the short bouncer outside off go.
Afridiesque power with the bat and high bat speed. Doesn't care about where the fielders are as his timed shots can easily cross the ropes.

Could be tried in a Sunil Narine role in t20is as an opener or a no.3.

And actually a much better LOI batter than Fahim Ashraf. Has 2 ODI fifties despite being a no 9 or 10 while Fahim has the highest score of 32 batting mostly at no.7 or no.8

Looked out of sorts in the tests against South Africa earlier this year when he was apparently told to hold back and bat slow.
