What's new

Hassan Ali's performance post comeback just re-emphasizes the importance of FC cricket and form

Hassan is performing below par in this t20 wc.He doesn’t seem confident. He is also bowling no balls which is a no no in t20.

His line and length is of the type that he is bound to get attacked but he is a wicket-taker.

However, I'm worried that you suggest his pace was under 130 KPH on average. Was this because of slower balls and was he bowling faster deliveries or were there none over 140? He maintained decent pace vs India.

This could suggest he's carrying a niggle or an injury which is not good news because he's one of our best bowlers because the man takes wickets.
I'd say over 50% of his deliveries were slower balls. He did bowl one at 142 kph today, but he has been a bit down on pace this tournament.

Hassan Ali's record in UAE T20Is before this tournament:

Matches 9
Wickets 15
Average 18.33
Economy 8.68

Has not lived up to those numbers at all so far this WC.

That explains it! Thanks brother. 140's is his usual pace so if his pace is down, its probably because he isn't trying.

The problem is the previous setup didn't give the likes of shanawaz dhani and mohammed wasim game time against zim , eng, sa etc .

However we are now in a perfect position to test out our bench strength , i think hassan ali getting a "rest" will hopefully give him a kick up the backside and in my opinion we are going to unearth another gem in one of the 2 i think dhani is a player for the big stage.

He's managed to be more consistent today:

<div style="width: 100%; height: 0px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.250%;"><iframe src="https://streamable.com/e/dbruvf" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="100%" allowfullscreen style="width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;"></iframe></div>

Hassan Ali is the weak link in this side. How do you let Afghanistan smash you around the ground?

Hes been awful once again No balls galore n cant bowl to a plan Very essy to hit him cos hes not tall n doesnt bowl it into thr pitch

Pakistan needs an alternative

Hasan has been poor

what has happened to him?
not worth dropping as he can do a little damage with the bat & get a wicket but he is getting hit all over

i wouldn't comfortable if it was 20 to defend from the last 6 with him

should be disposed after the WT20

Anyone can get some tap in T20, it's the nature of the game. But he's the one who's being targeted by everyone and they're executing.

The no balls are unforgivable, especially when you see Rauf is giving himself at least a 18 inches margin with the front foot.

Yeah Hasan has been terrible, getting carted all around. Maybe its time to consider dropping him. He has an ER of 10 and has just picked up 3 wickets in 3 matches.

Keep in mind he bowled a maiden as well

The issue is there is no reliable replacement in the squad.

Who do we have in reserve? I would drop him for the Scotland and Namibia games.

He is extremely low in confidence and can cost us the world cup , I think M.Wasim Jr should come in next two games.

Just doesn't look to invested in improving.

Same mistake's from him every game and just to add salt to the wound keeps on bowling those no balls.

HA has a good attitude and is clearly struggling but I would still play him. In a SF who would you trust Wasim or HA,and for me it's still HA

I would continue to back Hasan Ali.

He just offers to much with his energy in the field snd with the bat.

Hopefully he'll hit his straps with the ball too

The options are Mohammad Wasim jr or bring in Mohammad Nawaz.

In that case, I would persevere with him. I don't know an awful lot about Wasim Jr.

Hopefully he can get some confidence from bowling against the Scotland and Namibia batsmen and get some wickets.

His rhythm is off that is why so many no-balls and looks like he's trying to bowl quick from a lack of confidence. His fielding is suspect too and how many times has he given away runs in the death overs? He's a liability for sure and maybe needs to open with the ball in the next 2 games to get his confidence up, otherwise Wasim is probably raring to go. Best to make a quick decision rather than a disaster in the semi's

Hassan Ali is the weakest link in current Pakistani XI. I think someone else should play instead of him.

Seeming like 2019 wc all over again for him.

Appears to be putting too much pressure on himself instead of enjoying the game like others are.

He’s a match winner. I’m not worried about him

Well, he could have been a match loser today, but thankfully we got home after Asif's heroics. He needs to improve and quick and he has the perfect opportunity to do that against the minnows of the group.

There's literally no reason he shouldn't be dropped for atleast one, if not both, of the Scotland and Namibia games for Wasim Jr.

He's an incredibly frustrating player honestly, one minute he's amazing in the field and bowling maidens, the next he's leaking 15+ runs an over, forgetting where the line is and giving free hits away. Pakistan are pretty lucky to have conceded little over the free hits they keep giving away every match.

I think in this scenario players should not be shown their place in the team is guaranteed just because the team is winning. Pakistan should expect higher standards if their aim is to win the competition, and should not be winning in spite of Hasan Ali, but partly because of him.

I think its mental with him more than physical. He's clearly exerting himself trying to bowl quick. I wonder if he sees the other guys cranking it up and wants to replicate too.

Philander probably had a chat with him but pure pace is clearly not his thing.

I would stick with him. Replacing someone who is even more inferior is just irrational.

If it wasn't for his batting, I'd drop him but we may need his hits later in the tournament. His hitting ability isn't to be underestimated.

Pakistan can only afford one of two trundlers Hassan Ali or Mo Amir

Right now I would replace him with Faheem Ashraf had he been in the squad

We have such a hater culture. Everyone reviews the match sheet just to shame whoever did bad.

Hassan Ali is vital to this team in all departments. He will come good.

Ideally we need Amir instead of Hassan Ali but he's not in this squad.

Faheem is an inferior cricketer to Hasan Ali in every way.

Hasan has no pace , no height and no variety and he is now very short of confidence . Looks like pace does matter but Husnain is not the squad so Waseem would be a much better option , he not pacier but has variety and bowl with better control. .

Hasan Ali is a match winner - But he need to rest. Bowling no bowls tell he is out of form and going for so many runs - I am Big fan, But We need to play Muhammad wasim

When? Hes been poor 3 games in a row now n those no balls r unforgiveable

Just seems to offer no control and is all over the place constantly He needs to sort it out or sit out Cos if he balls like this in rhe semis it will cost pakistan a place in the final

Some of the logic used here is shocking to say the least.

If Hasan is a match winner but not in rhythm then surely he has to play the next two games to get back into rhythm??? Unless there's a fitness issue surely you would play one of your best bowlers against minnows to get his rhythm and confidence back??

6 days ago everyone was screaming for Harris to be dropped now it's Hasan Ali's turn

Bro, we had this convo before I think after the NZ game. You can’t just keep playing someone based on past performances and hope that he finds his rhythm. Hassan Ali is a good bowler, and he can bat too but right now he’s the weak-link in the team. He needs to be dropped for Mohammad Wasim.

One change makes a lot of difference and it can re-energise the team.

People who say “oh but he can bat too”, we’ll surprise surprise, Mohammad Wasim can bat too.

Wasim can certainly bat and if don't deny that!

Yes we've had this discussion before but I will maintain that we need a in form Hasan Ali for the semis and hopefully for the final and the only way that can happen is for him to play and get back his rhythm.

Also it's not like two years ago when Hasan Ali was performing.
Before the game against India he was arguably the first name on the team sheet when it comes to the bowling. Shaheen was castigated as being a poor in his second spell (death bowling) and Rauf wouldn't have even made it into the squad let alone the starting eleven.

Patience is something us Pakistani's lack but I assure you to win a tournament you have to back the players who had served you well.

Picking anyone now against a minnow will mean nothing. Scoring or taking wickets against them will be nothing like batting or bowling in a semi final against one of the big guns which is why it's crucial for someone like Hasan Ali to get into rhythm.
