Have Pakistan make a mistake by dropping Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan from Asia Cup 2025 squad?

Have Pakistan made a mistake by dropping Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan despite them being in the top 10 T20I run scorers?

Asia Cup is held in UAE, where conditions will be spin-friendly, and we have seen how Pakistani players performed in Bangladesh on such a slow track.

The two are also the leading run-scorers for the country in this format.
:kp
Ho gayi mistake?

The time is over for looking back. Some players like Haris haven't performed, but the team has performed ok overall. Give them the confidence that the coach backs them and the fans back them, that their place isn't under threat, that they have the ability and will eventually find form. This is the only method for removing stat padding culture. If their places are unnecessarily threatened then players will become cautious and conservative, put the team second and put their place first. I don't blame them, its human nature.

Respect to Hesson and for Mohsin Naqvi for not praising individual players but praising the teams w/l ratio.

We are severe underdogs for the Asia cup, but we have taken a bold step by removing Rizwan and Babar who let us down a lot in recent tournaments. Let's back this bunch and hope for Pakistan to win.

The issue with Babar and Rizwan is they are both cowards - before working on technical issues they should improve on that immediately if they are to play international cricket.

Yeah I knew it, you are not man enough, backed out of the challenge in an hour.
:yk
You have to deal with the fact that I am going to remain here until I die. End of story.

I have 50+ years left in me. My advise, Stick to blocking me and silently watching me spank you. Going toe to toe with me will result in your crying as usual.

I repeat 50+ years. 50 ling years of dealing with me assuming the forumn survives that long. I will likely outlive this forumn even.

That is your punishment and your ever living never ending nightmare. And you can do nothing about it.

I repeat process the time frame = 50+ years.

I ain't accepting 🫠. I refuse to accept unless I'm 100% sure of victory :vk2

He run away like a coward after accepting the challenge . He is really scared and already surrendered.

Btw they don't have any value on own words , no wonder he is a big Liar.

@The Bald Eagle another Pakistani poster surrendered infornt of me.

I think their T20 career is over. Having said that fans that root for some players now will root against them shortly.

Yeah I agree, it's good we are giving chances to a new bunch of players, and they are likely to fail often as they are a new team, but we need to back them, and although there are are glaring issues with players like Haris, overall we've seen a lot of positives with both Nawazs, Faheem, Saim, and even Fakhar and Shaheen showing some form and I'm hopeful that this team under the captaincy of Agha Salman can create some good chemistry and surprise a few people in the Asia Cup.

Pakistan’s batting stats in this tournament make for horrific reading.

No way are we making it to the final if we continue to bat this way. The highest SR any of our batsman had was Sahibzada Farhan with 150, but he made a total of 60 runs in five innings. Rest are meandering around 125-140, with the exception of Haris Rauf with 212 in that one innings.

This in a tournament where Waseem and Asif Khan from UAE were striking at 158 and 176 respectively, having faced better bowlers.

UAE’s powerplay run rate was a whole 1 point above ours too, while Afghanistan’s rr during the middle overs was higher. Pakistan was ahead in the death overs.

If we are losing these small metrics to limited batting line-ups like UAE and Afghanistan, we are pretty much in the same spot and haven’t progressed as a batting unit.

These are little things, which add up to overall performance. If we hope to compete with top teams, this is not good enough and all this talk of intent will just prove to be hollow words only.

Still backing this team, but hard facts need to be put out there.

There is one problem .. Our fifth bowling option if Faheem is smashed around which is likely against quality Indian batters or Even SL or Bd batters will target his dibly dabblers and we have to fall back to Saim ? Are we sure he wont be picked apart? might have worked against WI or Afg but its a dangerous gamble against more settled oppositions

Betters teams ll target Faheem Ashraf, Saim Ayub and Salman Agha overs. That's why they are better teams.

New era started without Rizbar . Same as gill era without Rohit Kohli..Pakistan should never look back and trying to select Rizbar. Groom this young side .I think Rizbar career is over now , they should take retirement with dignity in all format

Who said Babar Aint playing Asia cup..he is playing for hongkong right now with the same strike rate .😂😜

You have to be mentally regarded to argue that Babar and Rizwan don’t walk into this team with their eyes closed.

So true, these clowns act like cricket philosophers when in reality they don’t even know the basics.

Some fans lose their minds over these tullaybaaz sloggers who just shut their eyes and swing, and suddenly they think this is the magic formula for winning against top teams. They start jumping up and down as if a fluke 50 will come out of nowhere, all while wanting to drop proper batters who actually know how to build an innings. This isn’t cricket, it’s wishful thinking. Against associate teams you might get away with that nonsense once in a blue moon,

Babar and Rizwan since that 2021 T20 game against India where they got lucky to bat when dew nullified the Indian bowling attack who were also battling IPL fatigue have done squat against India since then.

Can we not pretend two players are injured and replace them with Babar and Rizwan? Any chance of that?

Mohammad Hafeez has called for the return of three senior players to the national side, insisting that the team remains incomplete without them, he said:

“I would still say today that this team definitely needs three players. First, they should be properly consulted and things should be explained to them in the right way. Babar definitely has a place in this team—I’ve said it before as well—that without him, this is an incomplete team,”

“Babar must be in this team, Naseem Shah must also be in this team, and thirdly, since Haris has not yet been able to adjust at the international level, Rizwan should take his place,”

“The way to get performances, the way to utilise players—that is for the management to decide. But if we include these three players in our team, we will have a better chance to perform in any given condition against any opposition,”

“Yes, mistakes were made, but that was in a different situation when even the captain and management created issues that led to wrong decisions. These players also made mistakes, but no matter what, whether Pakistan wins or loses the Asia Cup, these three players must be part of the team to create the right balance,”

I mean if we have to go with Salman and Talat then why not having RizBar. They both can't be much worse than salman and talat. RizBar can actually help you win a couple of matches.

  • Saim
    • Runs = 839
    • Innings = 44
    • Let's calculate:
    • 839÷44=19.068... ≈ 19.07 runs/innings
  • Rizwan:
    • Runs = 3414
    • Innings = 93
    • Let's calculate:
    • 3414÷93=36.709... ≈ 36.71 runs/innings

Target = 3414 runs.
Current runs = 839.
So he needs:

2575 more runs in 49 innings

2575/49 = 52.55
So Saim must average about 52.6 per innings in the remaining 49 innings to catch up.

  • If he scores fifties every innings (50 × 49 = 2450 runs) → still short of 2575.
  • If he scores 52 runs every innings → just enough.
  • More realistically, he’d need a mix of fifties and hundreds.

To reach 2575 runs, possibilities include:

  • ~25 centuries (100s) + 24 fifties (50s) → 2500 + 1200 = 3700.
  • ~15 centuries (1500) + 20 fifties (1000) + a few 25–30s → ~2575.
  • Or simply averaging 52–53 runs consistently across 49 innings.

Saim needs 2575 more runs in his next 49 innings, which means averaging about 52.6 runs per innings. This could be achieved by scoring around 15–20 centuries plus 20–25 fifties, or any equivalent mix, by the time he reaches 93 innings.

That is how crazy consistent Mohammad Rizwan has been in T20i for Pakistan and he was discarded like garbage.

The is final and ultimate humiliation for new era clowns. Watch them dip after this and hide in the sewers for a month.

I would wait if I were you ... the match isnt over yet .... BD are capable of pulling a Pak style collapso and combust when its their turn to bat 😆

But that won’t change the fact that Pakistan’s batting is trash.
