My contemporaries and I, were never taught conventional swing. We were only taught to reverse swing the ball. We learned conventional swing very late in our cricket life.
We were also never coached on how to use the new ball. Most of us had one natural swing, only (that is, either an in-swinger or an out-swinger - not both). We always waited for the ball to get a bit roughed up or (to be honest) tempered the ball. Once the ball was a bit roughed up, we could swing both ways.
If you were a fast bowler in organized cricket of Pakistan, did you also have similar experiences?
