The Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Habib Bank Limited (HBL) today announced a major partnership renewal, confirming that the two forthcoming editions of Pakistan’s biggest cricket brand shall be known as HBL PSL 11 and 12.

In a landmark deal, HBL exercised its right to match the Fair Market Value determined by an independent expert valuer for the Title Sponsorship of the forthcoming two editions of PSL.

This renewal further solidifies a decade-long association, as HBL has been the PSL’s exclusive and proud title sponsor since the League’s inception in 2016 and signifies HBL’s enduring trust and investment in the PSL brand which continues to experience commercial growth.

Since PSL 1, the value of Title Sponsorship Rights has increased by 505%.

PSL CEO, Mr. Salman Naseer, said:

“We are absolutely delighted and extremely grateful to HBL for extending their historic association with the Pakistan Super League for HBL PSL 11 and 12. HBL’s decision to continue their phenomenal journey with the PSL is a powerful statement of confidence in the league’s immense commercial value, its strategic importance to the nation and recognises the league’s position as one of the world’s leading T20 cricket tournaments.

“HBL has been more than a sponsor; they have been a dedicated partner in the journey to develop and showcase the best of Pakistan cricket to the world. We look forward to working closely with them to make the next two seasons our most successful yet.”

Commenting on the partnership, Abrar Ahmed Mir, Chief Information & Transformation Officer – HBL said:

“HBL is pleased to renew its commitment as a Title Sponsor to Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) flagship platform, the HBL Pakistan Super League (HBL PSL) for two more years till 2027. The Bank remains committed to amplifying the success of this tournament, ensuring the HBLPSL remains a platform that inspires the youth of our cricket loving nation and support the communities that the Bank serves.”

HBL Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, Mr. Ali Habib, added:

“The HBL PSL has evolved into a powerhouse brand and a national institution. Our decision to extend the title sponsorship reflects HBL’s core philosophy of ‘enabling dreams’ - a promise delivered through the PSL platform by launching numerous national and international stars. HBL has and always will support and nourish national endeavors.

“As the proud title sponsor, we are dedicated to supporting the PCB in delivering the most exciting and world-class cricketing experience in 2026 and 2027, further elevating the stature of HBL PSL on the global stage.”

Not a good look on Ali Tareen who has clearly been chatting about how the PSL is suffering etc.

The Title Sponsorship agreement for the period 2016-2018 was $5.2 million which works out to $1.73 million per year. The PCB is saying that the current deal represents a growth of 505% in comparison to the first psl season which translates to $8.75 million per year.

In ten years the PCB has only shown a growth in title sponsorship by an extra $7 million per year? Do they even know how much the IPL grew in ten years?

Lol the PCB hiding behind percentages and not releasing the actual numbers because they know the audience is gullible enough to get flattered by the percentages.

The Pakistani economy is in the dumps and in the toilet and many foreign multi nationals are leaving the country therefore the lack of powerful sponsorship and growth in the PSL is not surprising. The PCB is now going to add another 2 teams and Multan Sultans are already upset about the lack of return on investment on their $6.35 annual fee, does the PCB want to create the same situation with the two new sponsors as well, the leagues financial model needs more creativity and a change because this rent model is not sustainable anymore.

The PCB has to wake up to realities that the Pakistani economy and market will only offer so much money to the PSL, they need to come up with other solutions to inject more funds in the league ie going the OTT route, considering listing the PSL and the franchises on the stock exchange as a means to procure more investors and financing, obtaining bank and govt financing, all commercial and business entities do this to fund their projects so why not the PSL and the Franchises. The competition from the various Indian own T20 leagues is immense and the PCB has to find a way to keep the PSL competitive

Why is the PCB comparing the Title Sponsorship Valuation for the 2026-2027 season with PSL 1? They should be comparing the growth with the last cycle ie 2022-2025
I did some research and found this.

This is paragraph I found in last cycle's deal from an article

Though the PCB did not mention the exact amount, it is learnt the bank signed the new deal with the PCB for an amount of $22.2 million for four years. Last time, the PCB signed the deal for three years from 2019 to 2021 for $14.5 million. The worth of the first deal (2016-2018) was $5.2 million.

Based on these numbers and the 505% increase PCB has stated. I can deduce the numbers for PSL 11 (2026) and PSL 12 (2017), as follows;

The annual title sponsorship value for the Pakistan Super League has grown significantly:

- 2016–2018: $1.73 million per year
- 2019–2021: $4.83 million per year
- 2022–2025: $5.55 million per year

By 2026 (PSL 11), the annual value is estimated at $10.5 million, reflecting a 505% increase since 2016. This suggests a new sponsorship deal worth approximately $31.5 million over three years (or $42 million over four years).

This $10.5 million figure includes additional value of first season ($1.73M) as well. Otherwise the figure for next season would be $8.7M.

Maybe the growth hasn't been as expected

Lol exactly, are the PCB expecting that educated fools would fall for these gimmicks.

Also Salman Naseer is the designated CEO of the PSL but he has been devoting 80% of his time to PCB's duties because he is the only person in the PCB who is completely up to date with ICC laws, regulations as Naqvis Punjab govt bureaucrats who he has appointed to the PCB are not up to the task in their duties.

In that case what is Salman Naseer doing in the PSL then? Keep him in the PCB and appoint someone full time like Salman Sarwar Butt as the PSL CEO who can dedicate all his time, energies and efforts to the PSL throughout the year.

Maybe Chairman should hire us to run PSL. Lol

Yep. It's directly related to Pakistan's economy. India's economy has progressed. While Pakistan's has regressed. That's the difference between such a stark valuation growth difference between IPL and PSL.

The first lesson of the corporate world

"A percentage without a number attached to it is not information, it's deception".

I don't think it is fair to compare ipl and psl

Psl just completed 10 years and ipl did it a long ago. Plus, ipl is world's cash-rich league running by richest cricket board with lots of backing from icc.

Interestingly IPL's title sponsor Vivo in its 10th edition paid around *$11M per year

From 11th season though. That yearly figure rose to over *$40M.

* Not adjusted for inflation.
