Even though all eyes are set on Kohli but this time I want Rohit to show his class on the biggest stage against the arch-rivals . Rohit always goes missing in crucial battles against Pakistan and Kohli has to play upto his reputation to rescue India.

However, this time I expect Rohit to fire up from the front and stop being a supporting cast to Kohli.

As we all know, Rohit on his day can be ten times more destructive than what Kohli can ever be but less consistent. But if it's his day, the oppositon has no chance to compete as the match will be totally in favor of India.

Kohli is like a slow death even if he plays a good knock , the opposition could still be in the game for a while but when Rohit performs he bats the opposition out of the game and takes the score out of the reach of opposition.

And that's exactly what I wish to see this time.

All the hype over the match is around Kohli as if other batsmen are just there to fill the numbers which I hope motivates Rohit to take the grand stage this time instead of being a sidekick to Kohli.

Plus, he has unfinished business to deal with Amir.

Talented Mumbai Batsman v/s Amir. Game on.

Yo. Rohit is fantastic, but take it easy with the hyperbole. That was as bad as the Umar vs Sachin thread.

Indian bowlers will get some support from the pitch then obviously Amir and hassan will to get !! So in cass of helpful conditions only Kolhi can rescue India... all others will be gone in blink of eye

Just to continue. For me, Rohit is like Laxman. He will never be consistently as good as the best batsmen of his time, but occasionally he will produce a knock that the best could never.

I don't mean to insult Kohli and agree that in terms of consistency and reliability Rohit is no match for Kohli.

However, on a good day no batsman can match Rohit for the terror that he can inflict on the opposition.

I am just hoping that it will be one of those Good days for Rohit. Want to see sheer dominance of Pakistan from Ball 1 and Amir being put in his place by the Mumbaikar.

Lets say he becomes Amirated third time in a row, would he be classified as a amir's bunny ?

He is in woeful form at the moment - can hardly put bat to ball. His not playing the first warm up game and for his first ball dismissal in today's game means it would be a tactical error to play him in the high pressure game against Pakistan. On current form he will fail 10 times out of 10 against the formidable opening attack.

you have a problem with one guy going missing in the big matches whereas Pakistans entire team goes missing when under the spotlight

What?

Rohit was getting owned by mediocre IPL trundlers like Unadkat/Aravind etc not long ago. Rohit was barely surviving 4 balls against some real mediocre attacks and you think he will survive Amir/Hasan Ali with the new ball?

I say Rohit will score 11 runs before he offers a dolly at slips or gets LBW to an inswinging delivery.

If Rohit survives and reaches 60 runs, it will be SPARTA from there on.

After Kohli, Rohit is the batsmen I fear most in the Indian team. Amir and Hasan need to dismiss him asap.

I dont remember Rohit ever scoring big against us

So he probably will this time as he is due one

He hasn't. Always goes missing against Pakistan and let's Kohli get away with all the limelight.

You are right but I'm only saying let's hope for a big one from Rohit. Along with Kohli, he is the only one capable of scoring mammoth tons.

And it only takes one match to get back in form.

Kohli is due a failure against Pakistan so can't always rely on him and let others fail. If Rohit gets it right at the top, he will single-handedly knock Pakistan out of the match.

He's been out of form lately but that scares me because Pakistan is famous for getting out of form players back in form. We've done it time and again. Ross Taylor in the recent NZ Test series is an example. If he gets going, Pakistan will be out of the match in no time because he takes the opposition apart. However, I don't really remember him playing an important ODI innings outside India in a long time.

Haven't see a Sharma talent special for long. Expecting atleast one in the tourney, hopefully against pakistan.

Don't think Rohit is even going to play the game against Pakistan. Will probably see Rahane opening the innings with Dhawan.

Hell No. The Indian Team management have a lot of trust in Rohit so I don't see him getting rested for an average Odi player like Rahane.

Rohit is opening with Dhawan and that much is confirmed, but whether or not he can fire is yet to be seen.

AFAIS, most fans don't look too hopeful for Rohit. I would say it's the best opportunity for him to fire back as most of the focus is on Kohli.

He always starts slow .... as if it is a Test Match. This is when we have to feed him few lolly pops and force him to have a GO at such balls.

Amirs and Juni's first overs will decide the Indian top orders fate. If ball starts to curl back in then FTB's like Sharma, Dhawan will get exposed. Sharma can become a long innings monster if he survives 12-15 overs. Movement and that too from corridor of uncertainty at waist height or above is the key for pakistani pace attack against current indian batting because this indian lineup is not made of technically correct dravid, ganguly, tendulkar etc. Current guys slog and play in the air too. Lets frustrate them with tight line and length.

Hope catches wont be dropped.

Ohh Yes !!!....Finally some friction being created by both set of fans now !!!!! :bhatti

On Topic: Rohit is Amir's bunny and it will remain that way come June 4th :shezzy

He has a habit of coming across on his front foot with body weight bit leaning towards the offside. This stance is perfect for converting high back lifted bat follow through to hitting/slogging. Such players thrive on flat tracks against medium pacers. But the moment a quickie starts movement across the offset-middle channel such players get very frustrated and give away their wicket (e.g. Amir in Asia Cup). Amir or even Hasan Ali can work him out easily but not riaz.

... which brings me to the question, can Faheem Ashraf move the ball ?

Rohit did not do well even in the IPL. Post surgery he hasn't done anything worthwhile. So banking on his miracle innings will only disappoint you.

Firstly I hope we get some play. I am concerned the match may be rained off.

I will be so happy if Amir exposes this hack once again and gets him out in the first over. InshAllah.

Our batting is too fragile. Even 150 will be massive in cloudy condition. It will be another one sided match

Problem with Rohit for us is that if we don't get him early, or drop a catch, he will score big. He is one of the most dangerous batsmen in the world when set because he doesn't just score hundreds, he gets HUGE scores.

Not gonna lie an performance against Pak has been over due, though I do hope we get him out early with some nice swing bowling. Main thing is to not drop any catches in the match along with excellent fielding and we're good.

I will shave my head if the Lazy guy makes a century in crunch game. He will be cleaned up by Amir in first 10 overs.

He scored a 50 against us in Asia Cup 2014.

It's actually Yuvraj and Dhoni who are overdue a performance; But they won't be too hard to get out imo.

The more important thing to worry for Pakistan is Indian bowling attack. If they bat first and don't play sensibly, its almost game over! It doesn't matter Rohit or Kohli who chases small scores, India's collective batting line up will take care of it. The crucial thing is to tackle the Indian bowling and have a game plan, don't ignore that (Top teams like Australia may already be working on such strategies!)

If he does get that brutal knock a 200 perhaps then his place in team will be assured for next 5 years based on that one knock you hope for even if he becomes ***** thereafter

Get ready Baaaaaaaaayzzzzzzz. The Beast will unleash in a few moments. Hope Rohit plays a destructive brutal knock.

I dont remember Rohit ever scoring big against us

So he probably will this time as he is due one

Asia cup 2014 hit a 50.

Plus had a 50 in that Kohli monster knock in 2012.

Plus a decent 16-ball unbeaten 30 in the 2007 WT20 final.

But yes if Kohli is due a failure, Rohit is due a success.

Not sure he is capable of but sure would take nothing less than 200 if he is in for it. :))

Maggi 2 minute noodles ambassador Rohit will be back in the hut in 2 minutes.

This is the big moment for Rohit I have supported him since he wasn't a regular in team now he owes us a big match innings..

only thing brutal so far is the way he has sucked up all the momentum :)))

He was enjoying some good jalebi dished out to him by Wahab before he god run out

Wasn't 'brutal' but he did the job reasonably well.

91 (119).

The last knock was decent but not brutal.

Hopefully tomorrow Rohit shows the world why he is rated do highly and how in his day he can single-handedly take the game away from the opposition like no other batsmen in the World can.

Hoping for a Bahubali bashing from Rohit, he will show his son, Amir, that despite it being Father's Day, he will show no mercy.

Extremely consistent batsman, crucial for India to win this, although, not needed, rest of the batting could take care of this bowling attacking on the flat track tomorrow

Rohit was out of form during the first match against Pakistan but is in good form right now.

Hopefully he clicks and has a Great Day.

He's had his brutal knock, now I'm hoping for Amir to run circles around the Indian batsmen. Bring it on!

Bro when has Rohit ever gotten out of form?

He was toying with the Pakistani bowlers on the 4th, getting used to the conditions and practising his batting so it could help him for the rest of the matches and it did.

Rohit and Dhawan will be competing for highest run scorer in the tourney and possibly MOS, i hope the competition brings best out of both of them.

Rohit had good CT so far, but none of his knocks were any where close to the 'brutal' hitting expected from him. We need one of the openers to stick around till 35th over.
