Can someone explain?

While for an individual I get that better performances lead to national team selection and better economic prospects, I want to know what is the incentive for a team to win in domestics currently.

Is there a monetary reward for the players for a match they win or for their position on the table at the end of the year?

Do the coaches and management have the interest to ensure that the best players are selected to go for the win rather than picking their favorites?

Are established TTFs being dropped for bad performance?

Finally, when the new FC structure was inaugurated my understanding was that players will be promoted and dropped between Second XI and first eleven depending on performance. Why has that not been happening?

The team that wins the QEA Trophy gets Rs.10million. Runners-up Rs.5million.

The likes of Awais Zia, Umar Gul, Asif Zakir, Waqas Maqsood, Sohail Tanvir, Afaq Raheem, Bilawal Bhatti, Umaid Asif, etc. have all played relatively few matches this year after below-par performances.

Players have been moving from the 1st to 2nd XIs and vice versa.

It's not all great, or perfect but there are improvements.

The new system hasn’t been fully implemented yet. Wasim’s vision is to transform the regions to fully independent high performance centres, being fully responsible for their own finances and grass-roots levels.

a few examples?

a few examples?

Faizan Riaz and Zeeshan Malik were originally in Northern's 2nd XI. While Mohammad Wasim kept Zeeshan in the 1st XI squad from the start, Faizan was in the 2nd XI. He hit a big hundred and was promoted to the 1st XI after a few rounds and finished with 719 runs in 7 games in the 1st XI.

Sarmad Bhatti had some very good outings for the Northern 2nd XI as well and made almost 700 runs. He was promoted to the 1st XI for the last 2 rounds and made a hundred there too.

Agha Salman made ~450 runs in the 2nd XI tournament for Southern Punjab, he was promoted to the 1st XI for the last 3 rounds, hit a hundred in the last match.

Khushdil Shah made 400+ runs in 5 games for the 2nd XIs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he was then promoted to the 1st XI. He only played one match because they have other options but he remained with the 1st XI when he was available thereafter.

Zeeshan Ashraf had middling displays in the 2nd XI tournament, but he was the standout batsman for Southern Punjab 2nd XI in the National T20 Cup. The coach took a punt and promoted him to the first XI for the long format and he made 500 runs in 4 games.

Sajid Khan was in the 2nd XI initially. He took 18 wickets in 2 matches @ 10 and was promoted to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1st XI where he took 25 wickets @ 25.

Raza Hasan had a few impressive displays for Northern's 2nd XI in QEA. He was promoted to the 1st XI, where he played a couple of games. But he struggled and was dropped back to the 2nd XI.

Ahmed Jamal had some good displays for the KP 2nd XI and was promoted to the 1st XI. He only played a couple of games but took a 6fer.

Aizaz Cheema was also promoted to the Central Punjab 1st XI after some good performances.

Zia-ul-Haq performed well for the Southern Punjab 2nd XIs so he was promoted to the 1st XI. Played a few games but struggled.

Abdullah Shafique hit 550 runs in 6 games for the Central Punjab 2nd XI, he was promoted to the 1st XI for the last match and scored a hundred on his FC debut.

These are some of the names I remember but there were many more. There have been some examples of players dropping down to the 2nd XIs from the 1st XIs too. Raza Hasan mentioned above, plus the likes of Ali Shafiq, Mohammad Ilyas and Waqas Maqsood also dropped down after some below par performances.

very detailed post..

thanks!

I heard the salary cap for the domestic players especially in the 2nd division is quite low this time that's why most players have left cricket and started doing odd jobs

The salary caps will have decreased for players who were representing departments before; players who were representing regions will be (mostly) better off financially now.

Most cases that I've seen of players who are doing odd jobs etc. is not because they can't earn enough from cricket. It's because they missed out on being a part of these teams and are now in the wilderness.

Remuneration for domestic cricket is likely to increase over the next few years. It needs to happen because the current amounts aren't enough.

Once our grass root cricket improves, PCB should add two more teams.

8 teams is perfect for Pakistan and obviously better pay packages
