Our Fab 5 will be done by then, sure, some of them may hang about but they will be past their best. I do not see the volume of young talent needed coming through. Das and Sarkar will be beasts, and Fizz will still be prime, but I do not think we will be able to replace our golden generation very easily.

If we can find replacements, especially for Shakib, we will be serious contenders in 2023.

Shakib/Mushy will still play they will be only 36 at the time. I dont think we will be contenders, remember 58 and 78 in our own back yard?

This world cup was our best chance since a lot of the top team declined like RSA, SRL, Pak.

Will still be a mediocre team with no international standard talent to win test matches. Fans will still be super annoying :)

Thanks

This time was the best chance for you in a little while. All your main players specially captain Murtaza won't be around next time round. Can't see you guys being a "force"

We need to find two genuine fast bowlers and play Nayem Hasan over Mehedi, Nayem actually turns the ball and is 6 feet tall also is from Chittagong ( People from Chittagong don’t give up) :butt

He is the snake dance guy?

Nah bro, the snake dance guy is I don’t know his name. He is not that important :yk

Nayem Hasan is a young tall kid, who played a test match against West Indies also genuine spinner not a darter like Miraz

I think Bangladesh will be fine. They will probably not be a top team but also not a bottom team. They will stay somewhere in the middle.

That was in 2011 when they were actually minnow level. Next wc will be in 2023. Big differences. Most of the players be around except Mash and maybe Mahmudullah and those who get dropped to form. Fizz, Mehidy, Saif, Sarkar, Liton, Sabbir all will in their prime.

Bringing in new spinners, finding a leggie will be a must. There pacers there to work with. Ibadat Hossain, Khaled Ahmed. Shariful Islam, some pacers waiting for LOI’s. Taskin has to get into form, led the attack. It was a mistake leaving him out for this WC.

I to feel this was our chance. Our golden generation are at their peaks.

Let us be honest, among the current crop of senior cricketers only Shakib has been "WORLD CLASS" the others only performed after getting countless oppurtunities. Still quality cricketers but not good enough for us to be a top side.

I think Shakib is the real big fish.

BD team will be good for 2023 WC in India

Soumya
Sabbir
Mosaddek
Shakib
Liton
Mehidy
Saif
Fiz

Just need a leg-spinner

Sabbir, Saif, Mehidy these guys are pure mediocre.

Soumya is good and has a bright future so do Liton and Fizz. The rest I do not know.

Most importantly they need a leader, wonder who will be next BD captain.

Yes, only Shakib has been special. He is the star of our early years as a cricketing nation.

Shabbir is mediocre but Mehidy and Saif have a lot of potential. Mehidy more in longer format and saif in shorter format. Saif took 9 wickets in 4 game for us. Also a handy lower order batsman. Miraz is a proper batsman who can bat in the middle order in the future.

Sabbir shouldn’t really be in the team, the guy is a disgrace. Ashraful atleast even though he fixed a few matches he was sharif, Sabbir is a psychopath

We put too much emphasis on Riad, Mushy, Tamim. All 3 played like 100 odd matches without hardly doing anything significant. Shakib has been performing since he was a freaking teen. I think others like Mosa, Miraz, Saif, Soumya, Litton and upcoming players will come good InShaa Allah

Need to find a few proper pacers. I think on commentary yesterday someone mentioned because of the pitches in Bangladesh and the way the domestic pitches are, everybody wants to be a spinner and not many want to be a pacer, and that makes a lot of sense. That's probably the main reason Bangladesh have never produced a world-class pace bowler.

Very well spotted, our new tall spinner Nayem Hasan is 6’3 he started his career as a fast bowler but now is a spinner who actually spins the ball. We should have picked him over Miraz, he can bat as well. Pacers I don’t think we will find one by 2023, as in 2015 Taskin + Rubel has decent pace in Aussie pitches but here in England only Mustafiz bowls an odd ball for 143. We are really in need of genuine quicks, even a Venkatash Prasad will do for now

I thought that Taskin Ahmed guy was pretty good, pretty muscular as well.

Bangladeshi fans you can read this analysis. This was posted by Brother :amla MMHS

I think, Mash's retirement will automatically improve bowling a bit. Also, this is ENG where our spinners are least effective - BCB will start to plan for 2023 WC from next months, where 2.5 spinners are MUST. We have 2 very good genuine spinners in Shakib & Miraz, and Mosaddek will be a gun player in 4 years time, taking Mahmood's spot. At 27-28, Mustafiz should be at his prime in Indian track while the way Said has improved, if he continues like this, should be a gun ODI player in 4 years time. Shakib will be a fantastic Captain by then and at 36 (actually 38, I know that), he still should be at very high standard as spin-all rounder. That, makes a very good squad for Indian WC, with 4, max 5 spots open - which includes a Leggi, couple of quality pacer and couple of hard hitting batsmen.

As I see now, this should be our 15 for 2023 (with age in bracket)

1. Liton - WK (28)
2. Soumya - VC (30)
3. Open spot (Might still be Tamim - he'll be 34; or Afif -22)
4. Midget (35)
5. Shakib (C) (36)
6. Mosaddek (27)
7. Open spot (Hard hitting batsman) - Might be the U19 All-rounder Rabbi (21), brilliant player in making
8. Miraz (26)/Open Spot (Leggi)
9. Saif (26)
10. New ball pacer
11. Mustafiz (27)
-----------------------------
12. Tamim (34), or Nayeem - 23
13. New ball pacer
14. Spin all-rounder (Naeem - 21)
15. Middle order Batsman (Yasir - 27)

The toughest part is to find No. 10 & No. 14. I am certain that batting won't be any issue, actually it should be better than current level with Souyma, Liton, Mosaddek maturating and given higher position. Spin attack will definitely be better, even if we don't get any Leggi - Nayeem actually is a better finger spinner than Miraz, Taijul is a better classical SLAO than Shakib, and there are couple of fantastic finger spinners awaiting for their chances. There are couple of U19 leggis as well, but not sure how good they are. I don't mind the Nepali born Leggi Sandeep playing for us - joking apart, indeed he can qualify, if he starts playing from 2019-20 FC season, but he has to announce that 3 years prior to WC year (leaving Nepali alliance by Dec 2019) .....

Couple of decent fast bowlers, may be at the level of Mashrafee at his peak - and we should be a serious contender for 2023 SF. On Asian conditions, current batting strength is probably among top 3-4 units, it should get even better by 2023 - I honestly believe Liton has the potential to be better than Mushi and Mosaddek is much better than Mahmood. Weather from SF, we can move to a serious contender for the Cup, will entirely depend on No. 10 & No. 14.

I thought that Taskin Ahmed guy was pretty good, pretty muscular as well.

He isn't the same bowler, he was even smashed by Mashrafee out of all people in BPL. He was also the most expensive pacer in BPL, after fixing his action he has been mediocre. He still has muscle and can bench press 200 kg but has lost a bit of pace. Also he is emotionally vulnerable, he was crying because he wasn't selected for Bangladesh squad.

I know you don't understand bangla, but this good fun :akhtar

Tbf I don't really follow Bangladesh that much in cricket so I don't know who does well and who doesn't. But it's a shame for him if what you're saying is true.

Why is sabbir being called mediocre now. He always looks good when I watch him. Didn’t he play really well in the Asia cup a few years ago too

I don't know about serious contenders. Replacing the 'Fab 5' won't be easy.

I think BD to become serious contenders, assuming their batting holds similar strength down the line, they need 1-2 Strike/New Ball bowlers. If you had them this tournament it would have made a difference given how you've batted.

It really depends how good shakib and Mushfiq are by 2023

Their bowling needs to improve to make them real contenders

That was in 2016 and it's a T20 format.

Sabbir has been poor over the years. He scored a 100 against NZ in NX but that's in a losing cause without him even trying to go for the win(we lost by 80 runs or something)
