How can Pakistan fit Hasan Nawaz into the XI?

Hasan Nawaz is knocking hard on the door with his recent performances. But where exactly does he fit in Pakistan’s Test/ODI/T20 line-ups?
  • If he opens, one of the established top-order players has to make way.
  • If he bats in the middle order, does that suit his natural attacking style, and is it too much to ask from him to finish games for us?
  • Should he be gradually introduced in T20Is before being considered for longer formats?
  • Or do you think Pakistan should back him as a long-term investment, even if it means sacrificing a senior player?
What’s the best way to include him in the XI without disrupting the balance of the team?
 
Keep him at the bench , he is a grade 2 type cricketer , has been hyped for o reason. Never scored against a decent attack, spin or pace .

Drop saim
 
Just normal Pakistani admin things. Trying to find a solution to a problem that never even was a problem in the first place till a couple of days ago.
 
Saim has been one of the best bowlers for Pak this tournament and is their top wicket taker despite not even bowling against SL. Why are we considering removing him? He just needs a smack in the head and bat with open arms. He looks too restricted for some reason. Even a quick fire 25 off 10 would be fine I don't know why he's scared. But you have to keep him for being one of your best bowlers which reflects a sad reality of Pak cricket right now.

Top 3 are cemented. The players that should get booted are M.Haris and Agha but they have the captain and keeper tag keeping them in smh. I would still remove Talat for Hasan bc Talat sucks and today's performance is not enough to convince me about him. He was fortunate to have a fearless Nawaz at the other end taking pressure off him
 
hype train Saim should be benched for sure... No need for him anymore. He has been under the dust for a long time now... Bring Hasan back. He cannot be worse than Saim.

So what's the next comparison?

Saim Ayub vs Saeed Anwar : failed
Saim Ayub vs Jaiswal : Failed
Saim Ayub vs Malik: He didn't even bowl vs Sri lanka 🤣, Epic Fail.

Next is Saim Ayub vs Hasan Nawaz?

keep trying multiple ones until we find the right one... Atm Saim can be compared with Khushdil.

Salman was never a t20 player yet he was made our captain out of nowhere... But anyways. I don't even wanna talk about this freelaoder.

Saim has been a mis-hit for a long time in t20 format... Time to move on...
 
Selfless thing for Salman to do is to drop himself for Hasan Nawaz and let Shaheen captain. Salman adds nothing to the T20 team.

Just letting you know whether you wish to deny or accept it,

Agha despite all his faults, as a captain he has beaten every side except India which especially in UAE almost no side can beat.

Even in CT they went unbeaten and logically the only team that gave them hell was a B string Australia and a full strength Aus would have likely defeated them.

Every other team got folded.

India in SENA conditons is very beatable by top sides, i expect them to badly flop 2027 wc against top sides primarily due to Bumrah now declining and india going back to their classic trundler ways, By 2027, Even the likes of Pandya will slowly lose their effectiveness and Gill is useless in consitons that aren't FTB.

Alot will depend on their spinners which once again aren't effective in sa conditons and Jaiswal (who will probs be selected cause rohit and kohli aint making it to 2027), rohit for sure isnt, not sure about kohli.

At home den, and in Asian conditons in general their damn near impossible to beat.

Pakistan has still defeated Oman, UAE and Sri Lanka and since Agha became captain he's only lost to Bangladesh on doctored pitches where even Top sides(excluding India) lost to them.

However 2026 wc india is probs going to win.

Oh @BouncerGuy and C string NZ as well. But even a full strength SA and India would have somewhat struggled vs C NZ in that den.

And 100% lost to Full strength NZ in those conditons.

Only Aus would have folded them and Eng would have given them a decent fight. But in odi series england likely would have lost.

So Pakistan even getting 1 win is still an achievement. Those conditons are nightmarish for Pakistan by default. Nz and Aus

Ideally it would be Salman but since that can't happen in this series it has to be one of the countless allrounders, and that includes Saim. Any one of them would do because they are pretty much similar in function and output.

Remarkably there is only one player in the team who offers literal zero value to the team. Even Haris he keeps. And somehow that player is captain.

This is why you don’t appoint someone as captain who isn’t in the team on merit. If Agha wasn’t captain he’d have been dropped for Hasan already.

It’s not agha’s fault, he should have been tried out like any other player for his suitability for t20s first. You don’t just skip that step. Agha doesn’t even do much in PSL nor does he captain. He doesn’t even have a record in domestic to back it up.

Sadly realistically I think you have to keep Hasan Nawaz in the bench. It isn’t possible to bring him into this team. Talat would be the easiest replacement but now he’s performed last match, you can’t drop him. And talat also offers something with the ball, which helps our pacer situation which has looked a bit weak with Faheem as 3rd pacer.
 
Saim needs to go... Hasan Nawaz cannot be worse than what Saim is atm. Bowling is already complete, so we don't need this freeloader in his current form.

Nawaz will be an upgrade over Saim here.
 
Personally, I would drop Talat, I’m not convinced about him in t20s (ODIs is fine).

Based on form, Saim can also make way, but longer run I don’t see Talat as a t20 player - same with Agha

Believe or not, Agha's captaincy has been spot on!

He didn't let SL off the hook when they were 5 down (like Babar did previously) or even let india chase down the total in the 15th or 16th over like it would have been the case previously and that in turn meant the nrr wasn't hurt too much

He just needs to be a little more unselfish like he was previously as a batsman

His captaincy has been excellent and much better than his predecessors, plus no one else can do the same job captaincy wise

If Saim is a bowler. Play him as a bowler.

What's the confusion? Why is saying occupying a batter spot if he's a bowler?
 
Don't drop Saim.

The problem is not him but the three rellu kattas in the middle order.

Agha isn't going anywhere and M Nawaz and Talat earned another shot. I think unfortunately H Nawaz misses the rest of the cup.

In the long term Talat will probably go and H Nawaz comes in.
 
I recall a story about Inzimam and Imran Khan. Inzi was flopping during the WC and had flopped before in the warmups.

Imran told him, don't worry about the form, you are here to win the world cup for us.

Saim is a match-winner, he will come good, you have to maintain and nurture such a talent.
 
Too badd Hesson and Hagga (agha) don't have the data too. I thought ISLU was a data-driven team.
 
Talat isn't up to much. Nawaz most likely will struggle v India but if he fires he'll get us a great total. Worth the risk.
