This guy looks to be in great form. How can we stop him? I think looking at stats, he struggles most again left arm spin, but Mohammad Nawaz didn't really worry him yesterday. What would you do to stop him playing these types of innings?

Imad would have been perfect :(. A quick arm ball with Finch trying to play a horizontal bat shot.

He’s a typical Aussie batsman. Don’t let him play on that back foot. Watching IPL videos might be useful. It’s very difficult to get him out once he’s set.

As dangerous a batsman he is, it's very obvious on how to get him dismissed. Left armer bowling in-swing to him. Pitch it on a good length on off stump with the ball coming back him and Finch will be gone. Inherent flaw in his game ala Rohit Sharma.

play Amir for the time being.
Get rid of Inzi as selector and non-performing, tuktuk players including yesman Sarfraz

With batting, and I am not joking.

In T20, he is coming at top and getting the chance to bat 20 overs. Today is a bit different, but this innings won’t happen every day, even if he keeps playing with ZIM always. If he was out first ball, AUS still would have ended with similar scores but now may be for the loss of 8/9 wickets.

Therefore it’s not about tackling one batsmen, rather matching a line up for stroke by stroke. I can try to make it simple by numbers - there is only 20 overs to bat; therefore long innings isn’t the most important factor. If this was an ODI, an innings of 176 by opener at that SR can set up potential 500; in Test even bigger impact - may be 500 in day 1, which allows plenty of time for 20 wickets; but in T20, it’s a different ball game - after 20 overs, 200/9 is better than 197/1.

Not sure if I could explain it properly but bottom line is on such wickets (in general all T20s, played on belter & smallish grounds) one has to be ready to chase 180+ AND that’s without over loading the side with 4/5 allrounders (then target instead of 180 will go to 220 and playing even 11 batsmen won’t help). So, any team has to load top 4/5 with explosive players and expect 1/2 will turn around every day. Today’s innings is rare and it won’t happen every day; but Aussies will always put ~225 in 20 overs against this ZIM.

Doesn't matter since going by rankings, he is part of a "third-tier-team" and we are "ranked number one".

It should sort itself out.

This guy is one of the best t20 bats if not the best batsman in the world atm. I've watched him play several times live on cricket grounds and he probably has the fastest hands amongst cricketers. Reminds me a lot of Mccullum.

Try getting a few dots against his partner. Could force him to play a loose stroke.

But got to admit he's in amazing form.

Ask Shinwari to go across his from a goodish to full length. DO NOT BOWL ON THE BACK FOOT! Stop opening the bowling with a gun barrel straight spinner.

He has been in great form for over a year now. Even in that series which India beat Australia 4-1, he was Australia's best batter. Earlier this year during Australia's drubbing against England, he was the top scorer.

Since the beginning of 2017, Finch averages 79.42 in T20I at a SR of 187 and averages 52.56 in ODI at a SR of 94. So he has been in great form for a long time. Strange that Australian fans don't rate him, even though he has been their best batsman in the LO formats for couple of years now.

cricket is not a bat and ball game now days,
best plans are very necessarie element in the cricket.
pakistani team is a professional team and their coaches are also very professionals they all are taking high salary from PCB so they should make a better plan against Aaron Finch and team players have to work on that plan. i'm sure if pakistani team restrict to Aaron Finch on a low score then all things will be easy for pakistan.

Get him out quickly.

No seriously. Bowl around his pads, like an Inswinger to him. When you give him an opportunity to swing his arms he's deadly so its important to not give him a chance to free his hands. Cause he's a very powerful hitter.

I made a post few weeks back when Aus were on receiving end vs England that that Aussie team would still wipe the floor with Pakistan. Too many people here look at results regardless of against which teams when deciding who is the best in the world.

If you consider all 3 formats Pakistan is probably 6th behind India, England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa in no specific order. They all have quality batsman in shorter formats and quality bowlers in the longer ones. One Hasan Ali and a Babar doesn't make much of a difference.

Must be a proud feeling for Shaheen to get the big wicket!

Finch getting the better of PCT in this series.

Got right back in form.

India kept him quiet for months and now he is roaring like a beast again.
