They needed only 1 win. They ended up losing there next 4 games

Because they have a mediocre captain who won't even make club team and then they have a genius coach Aqib who makes his team choose to chase despite failing 3 times in a row.

Lol a few of the games they lost were absolutely winnable.

Fakhar and Hafeez losing form at the end cost them very badly.

Multan Sultans deserve a standing ovation. Bounced back massively beyond expectations

Doing the basics wrong and bad management can come to bite you at any stage.

When Sohail Akhtar is your captain and a regular player while Mohammad Faizan plays 1 down in some matches than you are already doing something wrong even before going into the match.

Such things can be hided when few of your players are in form and play really well but, they usually always come out of the closet at some point of time. Thats what happened with LQ.

Need a decent mind in the dressing room (Ofcourse alongside the constant Aqib) and also on the ground as well who himself is a performer and a regular fixture.

Because of not having even one decent batsman.

Hafeez is finally over his purple patch and the team is exposed.

The less said about the captain the better

Fakhar and Hafeez have been badly out of form for the UAE leg of the tournament.

The rest of the batting order is a joke anyway.

Their bowling attack is not bad barring Ahmed Daniyal but you actually have to chase the runs down to win the match.

This is how a bhai bhai management/team will end up 9/10 times.

I am a Lahori but I absolutely despise this team. I was not feeling it even when they were winning. I just don’t think there is any combination there at all of a good team. They all seem like superstars but no chemistry or game plan.

Zalmi and Sultans on the other hand are what teams should play like. Especially Sultans.. rooting for them to go meet in the final, it sure if it’s possible or not since they may face each other in the eliminator.

They managed to look even more disjointed than Quetta Gladiators. Lack of communications, discohesive unit, no proper strategies.

They played like Pak during the 2008-2010 during the last days of Malik's captaincy and under Yousaf.

That's because there is hardly any Lahore player in this side. It's weird that Lahore is the city that produces the best players for Pakistan and have this absolute joke of a team in Premier T20 tournament

I thought Dilbar Hussain had recovered by the time of the second leg. Faulkner(as a batter) and David were used pretty awfully. Dunk's purple patch is over. For some reason, Fakhar looked out of sorts as an opener. Maybe he could have batted at 3.

Just like Sarfraz, this team got shameless lobby too in Pakistani media that's why they never talk against this team. A physician, an envious wicketkeeper and the worlds fastest bowler and the funny thing is that the physician keeps on talking smack about QG having Azam but imo LQ playing Sohail Akhtar, Daniyal Ahmad is worse than that.

Poor strategy . Winning the toss and batting second in the crunch game when confidence was low in chasing was a complete and utter blunder .

bcz of their Cartoon Hunt....

what LQ need to do is to get rid of Aqib. he is a joker who is looking for cartoons like Harris Rauf from their talent hunt. they would have been much better taking 6-8 guys from last few years u-19 team and working on them and playing from them

but what they did was went on a wild goose chase , bringing in cartoons like Harris Rauf and Sohail Akhtar ... and that Tape ball Zahid as well

this cartoon hunt needs to stopped... PCB needs to come in and finish this circus bcz its not serving any purpose

M.Wasim shld immediately throw Harris Out and apologise for that

But Haris Rauf was lighting the Big Bash League on fire so there must be some talent!

Aqib Javed. Last year they relied on individual brilliance (particularly from Dunk) to get them through.

I have a strong feeling that these LQ owners are doing their black money white kind of thing. They invest into all these talent hunts, keep the same coach since season 1 despite multiple failures, have a dummy captain. I mean any owner by now would do complete restructuring unless you have a different bigger agenda.

Poor captaincy, poor game-plans, poor selections, poor squad rotation and key players not performing.

Do they even need this?

It's not like Pakistan lacks talent or cricket is unpopular sport in the country. They should be picking players from domestics.

Fawad Rana doesn't even come out in public to support and associate himself with the team anymore.

I last heard that the owners were interested in selling the Franchise and that they had let go of a large portion of their staff in Lahore

exactly ... its stupid to do this again n again n again and see it failing again n again n again

similarly to Quetta... they can at least claim that most of their platinum players got injured ... LQ had a shameful squad .... apart from Rashid n SSA, all of them were junkies.....

There seems to be a reluctance to change at LQ.

They won't change the skipper, their approach, the emerging player and that's why they got dumped out of PSL6.

They relied so heavily on their overseas players - the Pakistani players were terrible in UAE.

Aqib has an annuity for life at LQ. They have changed captains, players, but he has remained a constant

I understand the financial incentives and plan that LQ has regarding their talent hunt program, but they need to have a long, hard think about where they are going with this in terms of squad selection.

I think its unfair, Tim David and Faulknar were good as well.

Real garbage were their own discoveries Ahmed Daniyal & Haris Rauf whereas Hafeez, Ben Dunk, Sohail akhtar & Fakhar were culprit also.

Ahmad Daniyal was similar to most no3 fast bowler across all teams..it was Harris Rauf who was the cancer in bowling ....

Dunk , Haffez and Sohail are all past their usage date ...

but the biggest tumor is at the top with Aaqib...

Tim David, Fulkanar, SSA and Rashid .. their sole performances won games otherwise it would have been 0-10

Disaster for LQ. Don’t understand why they opted to chase at all.

On top they missed all their batsmen in this team. I think the quarantine period took it out of them being on top of the table I think they themselves didn’t realise they had to get in form and thought SSA, Rashid and Haris 12 overs would end the games.

Living in la la land our lahoris.

Easily had the best bowling attack on paper when compared with other teams.

Rashid Khan was extremely economical but didn't take wickets frequently (take out his 5fer and it becomes obvious that he was more interested in keeping it tight rather than going for wickets, a similar role as to what he plays for SRH).

Shaheen was good with the new ball and was generally their standout bowler. Faulkner was also excellent in the powerplay.

Haris Rauf was horrible in the death overs, he leaked too many runs and didn't take enough wickets to compensate for being that expensive.

Ahmed Daniyal was a bit unlucky to have some chances dropped but he is also inexperienced and became an easy bowler for teams to target along with Haris Rauf.

Hafeez lost his touch in the UAE leg, and so did Fakhar, as mentioned above. Sohail Akhtar was quite useless and should be dropped from captaincy. Ben Dunk flopped and the batting became quite reliant on Tim David, who did a good job.

The problem basically comes down to having no consistent batsmen. Fakhar, Hafeez, Dunk are all hit-or-miss type players, so LQ really need to find some better batsmen.

Zero performance from Fakhar Zaman in Abu Dhabi when his team needed it the most:

9 1 44 12 19 13 were his scores in Abu Dhabi.

Got starts and threw it away.

Overseas players did their bit, the likes of Fakhar were the flops and culprits.

Aqib Javed. Last year they relied on individual brilliance (particularly from Dunk) to get them through.

This. Aaqib Javed.

Nowhere else can a team have a shameless coach who has done nothing but landed his team in the bottom spot(s) for years now, except a team from Pakistan.

PSL is simply turning into a bhai bhai league, where people are only picked due to friendships. Quetta, LQ are two examples. Its getting as boring as Pakistan's team under Misbah.

and thts y they finish at the bottom..

there is favouritism in other teams as well but not to this level

Imad destroyed Umar Khan's career
Shadab didn't let Zafar Gohar flourish

but for LQ and Quetta, its next level

this Cartoon's hunt and Aqiab's so called crap on how amazing he is , its becoming a serious joke

Aqib shld apologise to Misbah, who is still 100times the coach aqib is.. and that tells us how poor aqib is given misbah is , as a coach, 0 himself

Someone , like Aaqib could be a bad coach , but Misbah has been the worst ever.

This is a video from 2019. They are least interested in changing their coaching staff and more interested in the pathetic development program which helps no one.

That's what makes them a lot of money.

They need to balance it out, as at the moment they are pushing their academy players and talent hunt players over others.

How does it make them money by playing players in their own teams? Other than Dilbar and Haris, i don't think any other players have played in other leagues.

If any of their academy players or talent hunt players get paid for any match, LQ get a cut.

Rana Fawad has been AWOL in the past 2 PSL seasons. Is he even interested in the franchise any more? There were rumours that LQ were interested in selling the Franchise

Forgive me if I'm misinterpreting, but does that mean that LQ essentially pay themselves if Rauf or Dilbar are selected for a PSL match?

Any match? So when Haris plays International cricket for Pakistan, do LQ get a cut from his match fees??

Media reports suggest that Shoaib Akhtar has repeated his desire to own a franchise in PSL and has apparently told the LQ owners, who he feels are not serious about cricket, to sell him the side which he intends to rename as Lahore Express!

That's what I've been told :)

Same goes for any T10, T20 leagues, County etc.

If it brings about change to my beloved Lahore then great. Just finished with Sohail Akhtar and don't ever wanna see him again.

Wasn't he keen on a Rawalpindi team?

Just saw an interview of Mr. Atif Rana of Lahore Qalandars and as per him.

He has no intentions of selling his team.

And

Aqib Javed is not going anywhere.......:trump2

"Lahore Qalandars had the best squad in PSL 2021" : Aaqib Javed

Speaking to Salman Butt:

"The most important thing I feel was to use the resources properly. I think the Lahore Qalandars had the best squad in PSL 2021."

"Yes, I feel the Lahore Qalandars were heavyweights if you see the squad on paper. They had Pakistan's frontline bowlers in their bowling attack. Both Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf play for Pakistan. Rashid Khan is one of the top leg-spinners in the world"

"If you see the emerging cricketers, they had Daniyal, who is one of the boys who can bowl at 140 kmph. So, they had quality in their lineup."

==

Then pray tell us Aaqib - what went wrong?

Their 2 best batsmen batted at 6 and 7 and one of their main fast bowlers was a brainless run leaker. Their specialist captain doesn’t even know how to captain. Some “best squad” that.

If Fakhar and Hafeez didn’t forget how to bat in the Abu Dhabi leg then his statement would be understandable.

I have a feeling it's a comment on the captain's inability to use resources at his disposal - which in Aaqib's words are the best in the world!

I will complete his sentence. "Lahore had the best squad in PSL 6 but the worst coach & captain"

I disagree.

They had some of the best players, but they didn't have the right combination most of the time. They continued to pick players who were struggling for form and players who should have been dropped.

Saw his recent two individuals. As usual a Pakistani official deflecting blame to the players and looking to save his own behind. Any credible organization would move on from this person by now. He has failed in 5 PSL Seasons where he has failed to make the playoffs.

As usual Aqib Javed trying to scapegoat someone else and ensuring he stays on as coach for another season.

Aaqib now unhappy with Shoaib Akhtar's remarks!

“When you are on TV as an analyst and giving your opinions then it is your right. They should criticise people who aren't performing and why shouldn't they? That is the job of cricket experts. But I find it very strange when they say that if they were in charge, they would have won the franchise at least two titles so far. If a big coach, who has spent 10 to 20 years in the field and has won many titles was saying this then it might make some sense"

“When we won five out of six games, all other sides were looking at us and how great our bowling was and our batting options. We were really hard to beat. Nobody was saying at that time that it is all because of Aaqib Javed. When your bowlers, batsmen and fielders aren't performing, you can blame a coach for selecting the wrong team. Maybe we could have drafted better people or made a better playing XI. They should talk about these technical details. What can a person say to an individual who is talking about something he hasn’t done in his life? What you haven't done always seems easy to the onlooker"

“The sadness of the fans is completely valid. Sometimes teams get stuck. If you see all around the globe, many big teams are yet to win titles in their respective leagues. I don't know what causes this and why things don’t click sometimes. But the owners have invested millions into the team and they can't just hand it over to someone else. Look at the example of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kings XI Punjab and Delhi. Delhi even changed their name but it didn’t work. These teams haven’t been able to win, despite being big franchises, in the past 12 years,” he said.

“Any team that wins five out of six matches at the start, it should be very easy for them to qualify for the next round. Even when the first round ended, three teams had won five matches each. We lost out because of the run rate. The sad thing is the four matches we lost continuously. We were in control of those matches as well. It wasn’t like we were chasing a very big score. The top-order batting has been a big letdown for us this time around. If people ask me the real or technical reason for this, it is because none of the batsmen got to a fifty in the top order. It becomes very hard for a side to win in such a case. I don’t think Lahore deserved to qualify ahead with the way we were playing"
