So Mickey has now led us to a 6th place in ODI rankings and our first ever CT!

Our Test team is still questionable but no doubt we have become a solid ODI team.

Now the question is how does he rank alongside former foreign coaches of Pakistan?

Bob Woolmer led to 2nd in Tests and 3rd in ODI rankings which was a magnificent achievement during Inzy's reign considering how the 1990's team underachieved. He was a terrific man-manager as many player such as YK and Inzy looked up to him as a father figure. Inzy, MoYo, Afridi, Butt, Malik and even YK to an extent enjoyed the best years of their career under him! However, for all his qualities he never won us an ICC tournament (group stage exits in 2006 CT and 2007 WC)

Now I know a lot of people dislike Dave Whatmore but I think he was a solid coach and turned out ODI team into a decent outfit. We won the 2012 Asia Cup under him, Aane Do series, won our first and only ODi series IN SAF under him alongside a SF berth in the 2012 WorldT20. I think he gave the players a lot of flexibility and let them run the show which is sometimes good and bad (did not seem like a task master). Our test form was poor under him but we also played many away test series like SAF 2013, SL 2012 etc. which were all tough tours at the time. However, his biggest blemish has to be losing the Zimbabwe test in 2013...

I have a lot of admiration and respect for Geoff Lawson. He tried to form a young team led by Malik and we played attacking/exciting cricket under him. The way him and Malik led us to the 2007 World T20 final was just epic and we were a very solid ODI team back in 2007-08 - went toe to toe with an ATG Indian team back in 2007 narrowly losing 3-2. His sacking was very unfair IMO and should have been our coach for much longer. We unfortunately did not play enough Test matches during his tenure to form an accurate opinion of his Test team.

Now Mickey has been our coach for a year now so his work is still in progress but I think we have seen enough to form an opinion.

Discuss and don't be shy!!!

Geoff was good but was soft.
BoB had pretty decent players to work out with considering INzy MOyo shoaib were world class players at that time.
Dave whatmore had the weekest team in my opinion with No Amir. He did pretty well tbh.
But Mickey is what pakistan teams need for the moment he is the right task master with no nonsense approach. Pakistan now has that Jazba to do well which is fantastic and this is how we as fan wants to see.

Dav was very passive, can't blame him 100%, PCB was its highest level of incompetence back then so anyone would've just chillaxed and gotten out with the paycheck.

Woolmer was the best coach in terms of working on technique and most qualified for that bit of the job. Lawson was 2nd best in that regard and best when it came to working on bowling. Mickey is the best tactician and the most strict as well which is great cuz you need danda with some of our players :shezzy :uakmal
