Pakistan might win,

But it will come at the expense of bearing Shoaib Malik and Hafeez for another year

Shoaib and Hafeez are gonna play the 2023 World Cup in India too.

They arent going anywhere anytime soon, win or lose.

malik retired from odi, there is a high chance hafeez might retire as PCB has been creating issues for him from playing leagues

It all comes down to conditions and performances of players. I think playing 3 spinners in Abu Dhabi might be a fairly credible and serious strategy. Plus you never know who is going to have a bad tournament. At the 2019 WC, we were all expecting Hasan Ali to repeat his 2017 heroics but he ended up bombing miserably.

The way I see it, all 15 guys have an opportunity to contribute and can do so. You never know who might step up and who might not.

That's true let's hope they perform who ever plays

Our players retirements are superficial.

They are reversed based on political pressure and ability to slot in the team.

On paper, top teams blow us away completely, but most of these lads have made their careers having played in the UAE. Imad and Nawaz have been immense here, and will play vital roles if we are to progress.

Pakistan ideally suited for a low scoring World Cup in the UAE/Oman.

Semi Finals looking likely now.

Pakistan must make it to semis atleast anything less than that will not be acceptable. They have an experienced middle order now .good top order . Bowling is fine

My semi-finalists:

Pakistan, India, England & Australia.

Windies could easily leapfrog Australia too though.

Sensational all-round cricket by Pakistan today.

My favourites to win the tournament.

Take a bow Babar and Rizwan.

CONGRATULATIONS to Babar, Rizwan and Pakistan!!

How fluent was that chase? Showed our IPL heroes how it's done.

After today's performance, Pakistan should go to semi-final. They can also go to final.

Pakistan are favourites to win it. I suspect only Australia can bully Pakistan like usual. Other teams are all beatable including England.

lol ... how quickly people forget ... lol

Semis was the minimum for this team with Babar, Super Riz, SSA and conditions

now if we hold our heads, its to win from here

3 spinners is fine but who do you drop that's the question.

Aus won't bully us lol. Aus only bullies us when we tour Aus.

Outside of that we are fine against them. E.g we beat them in 2011 WC.

Australia had their rears handed to them the last time they came to UAE for a T20I series. Despite their pace attack, I don't see them bullying any major team.

Actually, you may have a point when it comes to T20's but you used an example of an ODI. Australia certainly have bullied Pakisan in ODIs for more than 2 decades now

This Australian T20 team isn’t bullying anyone, they will have to play some really good cricket to beat Pakistan in UAE conditions.

Pakistan are definitely a superior T20 side and most importantly their players are in form. The kind of cricket they are playing, they should he able to beat anyone. Having said that, I still think Australia are more likely to beat Pakistan than any other team simply because if it becomes a battle of attrition in a high pressure game, they are probably the toughest side out there.

Pakistan’s Record in World T20’s

Just pondering but this so what I recall from the top of my head regarding our record against every team in the World T20

- Bangladesh: I think it’s 5-0 we have never lost against them

- SAF: 3-0 including a memorably win the 2009 SF! Never lost against them

- NZ: 3-2 but one of our victories was the 2007 SF!

- SL: 2-2 won the 2009 Final but lost the 2012 SF

- Australia: 3-3 but one of the loses was the 2010 SF :(

- India: 1-5 enough said lolz

- WI: 0-1 from what I recall we have only played them once and lost (2014 Group Stage)

- England: 0-2 I think we have only played them twice (2009 and 2010 Group Stages) but lost both times.

Please correct me if I’m wrong regarding our record.

Former West Indies captain Brian Lara said on Tuesday that Pakistan winning games and solidifying their position at the top of the Super 12 Group 2 table works well for India's chances of joining their neighbours in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021.

Pakistan on Tuesday registered their second successive victory of T20 World Cup 2021 as they outclassed New Zealand by 5 wickets in Sharjah. The win over the Black Caps came two days after they had stunned India by a whopping margin of 10 wickets. Pakistan carried forward the momentum from their first-ever win over India in a World Cup match to put up another fearless performance against New Zealand.

Sunday's Super 12 Group B match between India and New Zealand in Dubai assumes a lot of significance as both teams, having lost to Pakistan, would be hoping to open their T20 World Cup 2021 accounts and retain their chances of making the semi-final. Neither of the two teams can afford to lose as a defeat will hamper their chances of finishing in the final 4.

All eyes will be on Afghanistan as well as they made a strong start to their Group B campaign, hammering Scotland by a record-margin of 130 runs but two teams among India, Pakistan and New Zealand are favorites are reach the semi-final from Group B.

"I have been a captain. Let me tell you something, the team that beats you in a tournament, you want them to go and win every single match. It sets you up properly. India now have to beat New Zealand. Of course, they have other games to play but Pakistan running away at the top is perfect for India to sort of look for that second spot," Brian Lara told Star Sports.

Meanwhile, former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel said Pakistan's win over New Zealand works well for India but Virat Kohli's men wouldn't be too worried about what's happening elsewhere in the tournament after just one defeat.

"I think it definitely suits India more. But if I had been in the Indian dressing room, I wouldn't have been worried about the other games. It's quite simple. When you go into a World Cup, you focus on your things.

"I am sure this Indian team knows they have to win all their games. They wouldn't have been worried about whether New Zealand won or Pakistan won as long as India wins everything," Patel added.

Patel made a bold call, saying India and Pakistan are likely to meet in the final of T20 World Cup 2021.

"We are going to see an India-Pakistan final. These are the two best teams in the competition. It's going to be those two teams in the final," he added.

This thread is a testament to how unimportant people's opinions are.

Enjoying the brand of cricket Pakistan playing in this tournament. One of the favourites for me. But I fancy England to win it.

Pakistan's T20I Winning Streak in UAE

I wonder who is going to end this streak? Pakistan hasn't lost a single T20I in the last 5 years at UAE winning all the 14 matches we played here since 2016.

Teams Pakistan have beaten so far in these 14 matches:

New Zealand 4 times
Australia 3 times
West Indies 3 times
Sri Lanka 2 times
India 1 time
Afghanistan 1 time

If there is no upset we will take the streak to 16 before entering Semi-Final.

3 wins from 3 for Pakistan against India NZ and AFG. Only Namibia and Scotland matches remaining. So we can be pretty sure that the 46% of you that voted Super-12 are wrong!

With Pakistan all but guaranteed a place in the final 4, do you believe we can go all the way, or have we peaked too early?

Pakistan look set for finals . Likely to meet SA or Aus . I don't see them causing trouble .

Anyone of Pakistan, Kiwis, Aus, Eng and SA can win this tournament. Remember, it is a lottery from the semis onwards so let's all keep our feet on the ground and not get too cocky! Insha Allah Pak will win - but t20 is very unpredictable in the knockouts where form can go out of the window.

Lack of Cornered Tigers Momentum, Pressure makes me uneasy about Pakistan's chances onwards

Things have been too good for Pakistan in this tournament. In fact too good to be true. It can be argued we have benefited from being in an easy group vs group A.

Normally if you analyze Pakistan's victories in the 1992 ODI WC, 2009 T20 WC and the 2017 CT, it's come in the back of some serious pressure from the ex players, media, fans who have hurled non stop abuses, criticism against the team who have been one match away from elimination and had their backs too the wall where they had nothing to lose.

It makes me nervous that the team could potentially fall short against England etc in the semis once our batsmen are against top class bowlers, fielders, planning and our bowlers vs murderous Batsmen from the opposition.

I wonder how will everyone feel about Pakistan's performance in this T20 WC if this team falls short in the semis or the final

If we win, this will be different.

Prefer the wounded tigers momentum instead of the cornered tigers one this time. Pakistan need to punish Australia for the decades of disrespect by not touring Pakistan since the 90s, and England for the betrayal.

Lol at betrayal.
They didn't tour there because they did not feel it was safe. Has nothing to do with "betrayal" . Also "punishing" these teams. So much hyperbole.

What is the difference lol?

They've exceeded my expectations already.

I thought they would bow out of the Super 12s with India and NZ qualifying.
