I live in the UK. The biggest positive for me was that my employer gave an option to all corporate staff to work from home permanently. This meant no more early morning rush and travel. We have kind of gotten used to the new ways of working, using Microsoft Teams for video calls and screen sharing. In so many ways this is so much better experience than in person, at least for my finance related work anyway.

The biggest negative was that I haven't met any of my family (outside my bubble) and friends for the last year or so. Yes things are slowly returning to normal here in the UK but I am still kind of reluctant to go out till I have had my second vaccine jab.

By the grace of Almighty I haven't heard of any Covid deaths in the family but I have been shouting out to everyone to please please please take the damn jab. People in Pakistan have this mentality to leave everything to Allah which sickens me to the core.

How has Covid impacted your life?

It's affected everyone, from school to work to social life, everything has changed but hopefully we're returning to 'normal' albeit a new normal.

Been having the same issue with trying to convince relatives back in Pakistan to get vaccinated, everyone in the west has been vaccinated, I feel Pakistanis aren't very proactive as a nation and this trait shows up in many different facets

in terms of health related issues, after covid infection, I feel weak time to time, sometimes the extremities start to feel burning out of a sudden which usually subside after few hours and dizziness time to time.

It has an impact on every daily tasks.

Pretty much similar experience on my side. Breathing is becoming an easier process. Covid took unexpected toll on my eyes. I am seeing glare even in slightly bright light. I just hope its temporary damage.

Disrupted my spousal sponsorship application. Have had to postpone my wedding 3 times. We have to think three times before travelling because of the threats of travel restrictions, re entry restrictions, border closures.

No access to a gym. Not being able to chill at a cafe, restaurant with friends every now and then. No full fledged family and friends get togethers for 2 years.

Some positives tho, working from home has allowed me an extra hour of sleep, reduced travelling time and fuel, vehicle repairs, maintenance costs

Damn the wedding postponement must be really annoying. It is now costing an absolute fortune to travel to and from Pakistan due to the quarantine measures.

I also miss the dinners with friends etc. I have had the chance to add a few more dishes to my armoury though, namely popcorn chicken, butter chicken and ginger chicken. :)

Do you know what have also felt weak after recovering from Covid. Doctors have prescribed me vitamin D tablets.

Might be worth get a detailed blood test done to check for any deficiencies.

Tell me about it. I have an uncle who still thinks that Covid is a scam!!!

Impacted in a very bad way-

1. Lost my job in April 2020. Could get another in Jan this year.
2. Wedding plans postponed. Still have no clue when its going to happen.
3. Became positive in December and still have after effects.
4. Landed in a financial mess because of no income for 8-9 months. Had to borrow money from friends and colleagues to cover the expenses of rent, cc payment, loan payment etc. Still in huge debt. Don't know how going to come out of it.

There were days when i had to feed myself a 12 rupees Maggie noodles because i couldn't afford proper meal.

THEN THERE IS THIS NORMAL.

People were happy initially because they were allowed to Work From Home. Soon it became a curse especially for people working in Sales department or people working in Financial sector.

Your organisation thinks that since you're working from home, you should be available 24*7 to attend calls and webinars, reply to mails and submit reports.

With all this I'm not even talking how its affecting mental health/physical health/eyes etc, being at home all the time at home..with limited scope of physical activities..sitting whole day and sometimes night in front of PC or Cellphone.

Chinese really have screwed the world. Scary thing is it doesn't seem to end in near future. 1st wave, 2nd wave, 3rd wave.....God knows how many waves!!!!

Hospitals tend to take blood by buckets for routine blood test.
As a post Covid patient i am still on quite a few oral medicines for about 2 weeks.
I am on Zinc tablet (included with multivitamin) , a seperate Chewable Vitamin C table. Steroid tablet. Strong antibiotic. Nebulizer medicine for lungs comfort. Lastly one Anti-acidic tablet too.

Hope you make a quick recovery, I'm assuming you had it recently as you don't want to be on antibiotics or steroids on a long term basis. I have heard serious infection like covid can result in acid reflux issues which can become chronic.

Doctors will be kept busy for some time with long term impacts. Prevention is indeed better than cure

Thanks trying to remain on strict pattern to quicken recovery. I was in ICU last week. Now my antibiotics phase is almost over. One more week Steroids left. Then it will be needed to taper off. Doctors will have their handful because COVID is still mutating. Easiest preventive measure is sunlight a bit and Vitamic C tablets which boosts some immunity.

Whats happening and happened to is quite horrific to contemplate. I just hope you get a proper decent job soon , so your life can get easier.

Having to stay home for such a long period has meant falling in to a state of depression for many people. It has been hard being kept away from family and friends for such a long period. The misery is worsened when rules keep changing from day to day. I will be visiting Pak sometime next month fully realising the need to quarantine upon my return. Good thing is my working hours have not been effected whatsoever. Perhaps Pak could be removed from the red list next month or the government at least reduces the mandatory need to quarantine in a hotel upon returning?

It's actually ending in the first world countries especially here in America, it's been predicted that this is going to be a disease of the third world - at least until they're able to vaccinate more than 80% of their population.

The biggest ** slogan about Covid has been "we are all in this together".

We never were. People in fancy jobs or with stocks in Amazon/Netflix have done very good.

People with their whole families near have also done better mentally.

Those with old parents in other countries, or spouses/kids in other countries have been mentally hit

The gap between rich and poor has become far wider.

Dubai banned all Indian travelers from India, except those with Golden visas, which happens to be millionaire business owners and they have carried on travelling in charter planes with little problem. Meanwhile more than half of all Indian blue collar workers in Dubai have not seen their wife or children in 1.5 to 2 years

I got positive with the British variant in late February this year. Alhamdulillah both my wife and I had only mild symptom for 2-3 days and recovered fully quickly and children had no symptoms. But when I got infected I was worried as I didn’t know how it could affect me. It feels like if you have any weak limbs this virus attacks that?

The issue with this virus is that you can be as careful as you want but if the others in society are not following the instructions you can get the virus. We got it from the kidergarden as my wife works there a couple of days in the week.

Have had home office since March 2020 and works completely fine with me.

And regarding the social life, I am a person who love to spend time with my greater family and my friends but at the same time time I also love to be alone, so for me not being able to be with them is also OK but of course in the longer run that is not good for the mental health.

The plan for the Norwegian gov is to have vaccinated people aged 18-44 by end of July, at least the first dose. And people who have had covid—19 need only one shot.

So all in all, Alhamdulillah not complaining and very greatful that Allah gave us very mild symptoms.

So many people think it is "cool" to spend 12-14 hours every day in front of either their laptop/phone/TV

It is abnormal lifestyle but they think they are doing a cool job by doing every single thing via screens. This is worse for kids as well.

So what is your point? How did the lockdown effect you?

Don't forget the kebab rolls as well ;)

I have enjoyed the lockdown, and it was 100% beneficial to me.

Working from since March 2020, laptop on one side, PS on the screen, saved loads of money by not travelling into London, flexible working hours, more time with fam, great balance between work and personal life.

WFH will now become the norm for our company, couldn't really ask for more.

Plus money saved straight into investments (Shares and Commodities), effectively trading daily through ISA, tax free returns.

Super duper!

POSITIVES:

1) Working from home - this gave me enormous amount of flexibility. Saved time and money as a result of lack of commute to and from work.

2) Extra time to pursue other interests in life - I've been doing so many things to follow many of my interests - life feels so much more better lived.

As far as the negatives are concerned my father contracted Covid and we were really worried for the first three days. Other than sending money there is nothing much I could do from here in the US but fortunately for us he has recovered quite well and he has recently tested negative. But the mental stress, fear, tension during those few days were unbearable.

My brother too got Covid and he had to be admitted to the hospital but he too has since made a complete recovery.

Two of my friends lost parents to COVID.

I couldn’t get work for a long while but am recovering financially now.

Negatives :
So many deaths and so much grief.
Financial problems for poor.
Loss of livelihoods for so many.

Positives : seem not so positive when you compare it with negatives.
People got their wish to work from home. (not for me. my WFH lasted 6 days in 2020, thats all)
Some cities reduction in pollution. not permanently though
If it provided you welcome break from hectic work schedule, you were probably overworking before.
