This is a major point and I am surprised this does not often get discussed. How many chances should one get on a comeback? (perhaps the same point applies to new players but I am more keen to understand the benchmark for a comeback as some of these players work very hard)
Recently we saw that both Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal made comebacks in the Pakistan team but both of then were abruptly discarded after a handful of innings. Was that fair?
Now we are witnessing a Fawad Alam comeback. Potentially he will get 4 innings (or may be 2 if he is selected in only one test). Should he be dropped if he fails or persisted with?
It is about time that PCB sets a criteria so that all players are treated equally.
In my view a player should be given at least 6 innings to show what they are made of. But then what happens if that player does well in 2 innings and fails in 4 (reminds me of Asad Shafiq)...
What do you guys think?
