Just seeing the prodigious talent in India and some in Pakistan , off the current lineup in tests , odi and t20 since 2021 start - who would walk into pakistan team without a second doubt ?

And who from Pakistan would walk into Indian team without a second doubt (and in place of whom )

Babar, yes. Shaheen, maybe. Nada for Hassan Ali & Rizwan.

Hassan Ali is a spray gun, India has better bowlers- even their tier 2 bowlers upended Australia.

Rizwan could be a contender, but cant see India dumping their proven match winner Pant for Rizwan.

Both in playing xi, pant purely as batter and Rizwan wk bat. Looking at the middle order players of both team, pant can make the team purely as a batter.

Who will babar replace in t20s? We have safe batsmen like him already. Only way to replace someone is if you are an X factor high strike batsmen like ishan, sky, pant
 
Currently only 3 players. Babar and Shaheen in more then one format maybe.
Hafeez definitely in T20 though even ahead of Babar. Hafeez has that extra gear and has shown last some years and had been excellent.

He is consistently getting us out of trouble in test matches...

Pant takes ICT to the finish line so they win the game- it happens because team backs him to put hkm into that position too

Half the battle of Rizwan is too put the team in a competitive position and he plays clutch innings while doing so...

It's not his fault that PCT doesn't provide him the platforms to actually won the games

Him not winnings is because of PCT and not lack of.abilities

Agree. Hafeez should be put ahead of Babar on T20s and he the one who could only make a way in Indias T20 team and Shaheen probably.

I do watch test matches of both Pak & India. And i acknowledge Rizwan is a better wk than pant. But to say that Rizwan actually deserves a spot over Pant is undermining everything that Pant has achieved at his young age - not easy to bat the way he did against top teams like England & Australia. Again, Rizwan does suffer from being in a mediocre team but till the time it doesnt translate into results, there will be an asterisk on his performance. Unfair on him? Yes but thats the nature of the game.
 
Babar in Tests for sure. .Shaheen in the ODIs may be Tests as India clearly misses a left arm spearhead.

Yeah I would too we as Pak fans rate innings in Australia very highly, everyone knows the reason why :jordan

So like I am a Pant fan for sure, anyone who humiliate the Aussie cricket team at thier own den is a hero of mine

But I just felt you were being a little disreapectful towards Riz
Cause many casuals (to PCT) end up saying he is not clutch (have heard many ICT fans so was surprised hearing it from a PCT fan like you)

Because of that I was like hey let's set the record straight he is definitely a clutch players, no one should take that away from him
He deserves massive respect for it

Azhar played many tough/big innings through out his career but we still remember him by that double hundred on that road of an MCG wicket

Even though i am a PCT fan, i like good cricket more regardless of whichever team plays it.

Rizwan is a clutch no doubt (& i enjoy watching him bat too), but Pant is in another league right now. Maybe we will revisit this if Pant’s lucky streak ends one day.

India have no reliable operners in T20s atm except Rohit. Babar as a T20 opener has performed so well consistently. Ishan has only played two T20I so far. have watched him bat in the Ipl and feel he mostly plays on the leg side. Rahul looks good at no.4/5 so I would take babar over them as an opener in T20I.

Do you think babar could do well at no.4 in ODIs and T20s? It's the most tricky position IMO. Players who play at that position should be good at both roles i.e accumulating and power hitting. It's reserved for Players like Abd, Rahul, Morgan who are so good at that role.
 
Pakistani players that would make the Indian team

In T20s:
Sharjeel Khan
Hafeez
Probably one or maybe 2 of the allrounders like Shadab/Imad
bowlers IDK

In ODIs:
Babar
Probably one or 2 of the allrounders again
Probably Shaheen, although India arguably need bowlers who can bat

In Tests:
Babar & Rizwan

Thought about it. But felt KL would be a better fit in the opener slot in T20s because usually Rohit takes his time to open up. If KL doesnt open- then Sharma & Babar open, Kohli comes 1 down, KL at 2 down.

I will still retain Babar 2 down in ODIs, he is no absolute mug strike-rate wise in the middle overs.

The reality is that not a single Pakistani player will get into the Indian team in any format.

One can only laugh at the audacity of comparing Rizwan and Pant.

Shaheen is better than some of these fringe LOIs bowlers but he will not get into the team ahead of Bumrah and Shami.

India is miles ahead of Pakistan in all facets and in all departments. There is no comparison in terms of talent, skill and mental application.

Pakistan is comparable to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan etc. India is a totally different beast.

Thats a bit much. Agreed that India dominates, but that doesnt mean Babar or Shaheen cannot find space in that team. Babar is way better than Rahane & there is a case for Shaheen as well in white ball cricket.

There is no evidence that Babar is better than Rahane. At best, he is at a similar level with a similar skill-set. Both are low 40s averaging players and not great against spin.

Rahane is less consistent than Kohli and Pujara because he is inferior against spin, and if Babar does not improve his spin play, he will remain in the Rahane category and will fail to average 50+ in Tests.

Our batting is almost associate level so Babar stands out like a shining star, but the reality is that he is at the same level as the support cast of Indian batting such as Rahane and some of the younger players like KL Rahul, Agarwal, Iyer etc.
 
In Odis/t20s not sure about batsmen,but Shaheen will surely walk in as bowlers are precious commodity in this current era

I doubt if even Rohit is a better all-format batsman than him, let alone Rahul and Agarwal.

Fact is Babar currently is good enough to do well overseas in tests while Rohit at age of 25-26 wasn't good enough to do well overseas. Current version of Rohit is probably good enough but whether he delivers it, we have to wait.

Babar has a ceiling of Root or Williamson.

Rohit wasn’t good enuf . That’s incorrect . It was not possible to break into the indian team 10 years ago in tests . I think Fab Four were still playing in 2011 . Rohit was good but couldn’t find a place and when he did he got injured ...

Regarding pak players getting into indian team -

I think one or two players can present a decent case . Babar azam for example . But I would give u example of Krunal nair . He is a good player and nowhere in the picture . There is so much competition for each spot that you have to be exceptional to get in . The pool of 30 players india has across three formats is very difficult to get into .

You need to be a stokes or a holder ( fast bowling allrounder ) to get in straight up . India lacks those and not many options .
 
Babar and Shaheen definitely. I would replace Rahane with Babar and one of the seamers with Shaheen ( maybe Ishant).
 
None in ODI. Not because Pakistani players are not good, just that we have similar players here.

Babar can't replace Kohli, not yet. And from number 4 we need people who can hit which is not his forte
Shaheen can't replace any of Bumrah, Bhuvi or Shami
Hasan Ali is not a replacement for Shardul
Rizwan in place of Pant takes us one step forward and one step back.

Rohit didn't got into Indian team in which Vijay, Pujara, Kohli and Rahane went. There was another place left which India tried filling by names like Rohit, Dhawan, Rahul, Nair but they didn't produced balanced result across all conditions.

Of all, KL Rahul looked the best during the initial part but he too lost it by 2018 and was ultimately replaced by Mayank Agarwal. In between, Rohit was tried but he didn't do well overseas even then and we needed a good overseas batsman.

All of these guys were approx. 40 averaging batsman ( brilliant at home and below average away). Finally, we went back to Rohit and now giving him long run because of the South Africa series at home. He still doesn't have a single hundred overseas so he still needs to come up with performance to prove his worth ahead of Babar and he doesn't have time on his side compared to a Babar who is 26 only.
 
All the indian players can walk into the current lineup of Pakistan. Even in domestics there are better batsmen than babar who are mentally and technically stronger than him. Maybe shaheen can retain his place or maybe both babar and shaheen serve as a bench strength.
 
Shaheen?? Maybe after few years, but right now he is not even a good bowler who knows how to set up batsmen.

In the last 3 years in the tests,

Shaheen avg 32-33

Indians have Bumrah(avg 21), Ishant( avg 19), and Shami( avg 25) - last 3 years. It is one of the best pace units of recent times.
 
Babar should be in the combined XI. Rizwan is actually pretty good, but right now Pant takes it for me. Can't ignore what he has been doing.
 
India would kill to have Shaheen in their team. They are so desperate for a fast lefty, they gave that awful Khaleel so many chances.

Rest is fine though.
 
Shaheen has done nothing in test to stake a place over Ishant, Shami and Bumrah in test side. Putting Rizwan over Pant is just hilarious. A test XI would probably be

Stupid and Delusional team, Yasir Shah is nowhere near Ashwin as a test bowler.
Khaleel Ahmed hasn't even made his test debut so it's a weird thing to say "they're so desperate for left arm pacer that they're giving Khaleel chances". Shaheeh in test matches isn't fit to lace Shami's boots right now.

There is no way that Ashwin doesn't get into Asian XI. He actually walks into current World XI and probably the best test XI of this generation.

Dude people have posted cold hard numbers of ishant bumrah and shami who all average below 25 in last 3 years even Yadav and bhuvi average near 25 in that period, whole Shaheen averages 33 .

Come there is a limit to being delusional

What about shaheen in odis and t201s. He can easily find a place as the 3rd pacer.
 
Shaheen can replaces who?
Bumrah, Bhuvi or Shami. He will have to do more than just be a lefty bowler with pace.
 
None in T20's and ODI's.
Literally there is no space for current Pak players in our LOI, Plyers like SKY, Ishan, PadikKal, Prudhvi etc so many players waiting for their chances and all are better LOI players.

Babar is the only player would make into Indian Test team.

The averages at the beginning of the career don't matter much. Kid has pace and swing. Bumrah and Shaheen would make the batsmen dance. It adds to the variety as well.

Agree with you..cant see a Pakistani batsman coming in into the LOI setup where we need more all action players, maybe Hafeez for Iyer??


However I think Shaheen is the one for LOIs. He is brilliant and a much needed left armer. Imad Wasim could be another option in T20s for #7.

The recent record of Shami in the last 3 years were a bit padded with 9 wk against BD in 2 games. Against AUS, Eng, NZ and SA, he averages around 29 overall.

In good bowling conditions, he falls away a little. In Eng, his avg is 39 and in NZ, he averages 36. So he ain't Marshall yet and can be replaced by a lefty pacy swinger that adds to the variety and has an X factor.

Babar will surely make it in India on pure merit. Shaheen is a left armer , so he is a must among Indian right arm bowlers. Rizwan vs Pant is a tough choice both have merits. Yasir vs Ashwin vs Jadeja is another tough pick as spinner. But Ashwin, Jadeja narrowly edges it on being better at batting. Lastly Azar Ali is merits a place as opener.
