What's new

How many current Pakistani players will get into the Indian Test squad?

Why are people under ratin Shaheen.....

I thought the same but only reason people are not saying too much about Shaheen yet is because hes very new to international cricket, his reputation will be made post 2019 WC

I have seen enough of him to realise that he has got a lot of potential. From here on only he can screw himself, if he manages himself well, he will have a long and fulfilling career.....

I don't know if India have a left arm pacer so Aamir/Afridi have a chance. Abbas is probably the most likely out of everyone else.

If some posters of PP are to be believed then members of 6th ranking Pak team will outnumber Indians in the Indian test team.:vk2

Its a bit unfair comparison as India is (perhaps) the all time best Indian team at this moment and Pakistan is the all time worst ever Pakistani team. Most of Pakistani Batsmen and bowlers do not deserve to play in Pakistani team let alone playing for no 1 rated team. I hope Pakistan will go through this transition phase soon and emerge as a better test side.

Babar can make his way at 5.

Abbas is another one who will walk into this team.

Shaheen Afridi has potential but too early to say. He needs to do it for 20-25 tests and I am sure he will come out better.

It's possible if the top team is Carried only by 4/5 players and they are good enough to do it

Yes it is but their replacements, better ones are in the waiting. While some PPers are going gaga over Babar Azam and Afridi, neither has the stats to be worthy enough to be in Team India. Abbas however is a different story.

Abbas and Babar but Shaheen has potential. Think Babar could get ahead of Rohit.

In the squad, maybe Abbas, Babar and Yasir.

No one. Perhaps Azhar has an outside chance, but it appears that Agarwal has solved their opening crisis.

He looks a superior batsman, and of course Shaw is leagues above in terms of potential. Azhar at this point will be a better backup than Vijay though.

Not even Abbas?

May be Babar as a backup batsman. Rahane still has much better overall record then Babar. And regarding Abbhas he is yet to be proved against top teams. Only agains England and Australia he has perofemsdand even that for couple of test matches. Mostly because of unknown factor. NZ already seemed to have him sorted out. Compare him to someone like Bumrah who is also very new in test cricket bust has played againest most of the teams in LOI'S. They know him and how what he does but still is doing fine. Same with Shami and Ishant. They have performed even though there is no novelty factor involved

Pretty sure there are better players waiting in the pipeline to choose from india. Babar is the only one I can think of, that to is a iffy scenerio.

Babar , Hasan, Amir etc. won't get in.

Yasir has an outside chance - his bowling doesn't make up for the batting provided by Indian Spin twins.

Azhar has a decent chance right now - but he would be phased out quickly.

One of Abbas / Afridi has a good chance - but not both of them together.

India's bowling attack has no weakness at the moment. As good as Abbas has been, he cannot replace any of their first-choice pacers.

I think Babar deserves a spot at least, instead of Rahane or Rohit who both averaged 25-31 in 2018 while the Pakistani averaged 56 with some commendable knocks such as the ones in Lords (before he got injured) and Centurion. Also scored his runs at a good tempo.

I would take Babar over Rahane or Rohit.

Azhar doesn't make the XI, he's had a poor 2018. I would take Abbas ahead of Ishant and once Shaheen hits the ground running, he can replace Shami.

Agree on Hasan, Amir and Yasir.

Mayank Agarwal
Prithvi Shaw
Pujara
Kohli
Babar
Pant
Pandya
Jadeja/Ashwin (play both on a turner instead of Shami)
Shami
Bumrah
Abbas

We do have a glaring weakness. We still can't dismiss the tail quickly.

Plus i'm hoping for a world class left arm pacer to emerge. That would be fantastic.

I'll take Babar over Rohit too in general, but both him and Afridi need to have a bit more of a career and performances before I will take them over Rahane / Shami.

Azhar Ali, Imam-ul-haq, Fakhar Zaman- any of these would be better than KL Rahul with his constant failures at the moment. Can't say too much about Shaw though, still very young and untested.

Imam ul haq would have found a spot and Abbas

Will inzy be on selection panel.....????
If yes...imam will be in team India followed by others like kohlis and pujaras

So how many test matches have Fakhar and Imam played? Shaw over both of them any day of the week.

and babar too,imo hes better than Vihari/Rahane. Yasir might also find a spot in Asian conditions.

Vihari is new so can't say ..but India would have persisted with rahane. Babar is now coming good in test matches. It's only the beginning for him. I would like to wait there. Definitely better than Sharma in test though 😆

Babar looks better than Rohit/Vihari but Shubman Gill will seal that spot very soon.

Heard Shubman Gill is doing quite well in List-A cricket. Watched him in U19 world cup too, he was a level above the rest. Definitely a star for the future considering how good Indian cricket management is in grooming youngsters.

After todays match, even though day 1 has not even finished, I will take back what I said about Imam, Babar and Abbas. I don't think a single Pakistani player would make the current Indian squad. Bitter reality :(

I am having second thoughts about Abbas.:wave:wave

In day 2, its getting worse :(

Hes our best bowler, in this match hes been disappointing because he just came back from injury with hardly any practice on this conditions and our pathetic batting has not given him anything to bowl at.

Pakistanis have a tendency for over hyping. Indians do that too but you guys make art out of it.

So I'll wait for this SA series and the next away series to make that call.
