What's new

How many PPers here are from the Indian side of Kashmir?

Any poster here living near LoC? I was watching some pictures posted by Omar Abdullah (ex CM J&K) on his Twitter account from a jalsa in Poonch near LoC and i was actually surprised because the look / dressing etc is very similar to current Pakistani look even after all the decades of living on different side of LoC there is hardly any change even in the dressing. Kashmiris living away from LoC looks different you can tell the difference but in these pictures it's hard to tell the difference if they are Pakistanis or Kashmiris.

The people living in chenab Valley i.e. DODA KISHTWAR POONCH BHADERWAH have lot of similarities with pakistanis.... but people from kashmir valley i.e. SRINAGAR ANANTNAG KULGAM PULWAMA BUDGAM are completely different.... havng different sense of clothing and completely dffrnt culture....

I was just wondering how many posters here are from indian side of Kashmir i have a couple of questions for them :)

What are your views about Pakistan? Are they same like majority of indian public or different?

Which team do you guys support in an indo-pak match?

If given a chance to select would you like to live with India, Pakistan or Independent?

Can you speak/understand Urdu or Hindi?

I have more questions as well will ask them later :)

If i am not wrong these 3 posters are from their: Saqib Yousuf Yatoo Madplayer Mir jibran

Are there any other posters from there as well?

I'm a Kashmiri Pandit currently living in Delhi.

Views on Pakistan and India? I like India much more as a country than Pakistan, mainly because of the terrorism issues, the ridiculous two-nation theory and the fact that India is secular. India has many issues but the problem is Pakistan has way, way more. I believe state should be separate from religion which I feel even India hasn't been able to do entirely. I like sane people from both the countries and despise the nutters.

I support cricket teams in this order: Afghanistan, Nepal, India. Actually, I don't follow Pakistan cricket much.

I'd like Kashmir to stay with India.

I can speak Hindi/Urdu very well, though I've never understood why Urdu is the official language of 'Jammu and Kashmir' when it has absolutely nothing to do with us. And I don't know why it's associated so much with Islam in India when clearly spoken Hindi/Urdu are pretty much the same with slightly different vocabulary at times. It's the language of the people from UP/MP! We have our own languages!

Very significant point, the biggest losers in the Urdu Vs Hindi battle have been the numerous vernaculars from the end of pakistan to the other side of India.

Pakistan imposed Urdu over Sindhi, Punjabi, Pashtun and so, In response India since independence has tried to replace Hindustani with Hindi , full of sanskritised words instead of Persian and many of the languages like Awadhi, Bhojpuri, Pahari etc are now clubbed as just dialects of Hindi !

Why would you support Nepal? Any relatives there?

You might be the first Kashmiri Pandit on PP.

Urdu means Islam in subcontinent. Even the new converts to Islam also try to learn(Read & Write) in Urdu.

What language do you speak at home?

I have nothing to do with Nepal, it's just that I like their team..... Paras Khadka and Sompal Kami are my favourite Nepalese players.....
I grew up in Pune and later moved to Delhi so I mostly speak in Hindi and don't know much Koshur though I can understand a lot of it...... My parents use it with relatives, not with me......

You do make a fair point. Actually I'm not too aware of all this, so found it a bit odd that it was made the official language ahead of the local languages with such rich literature....
