Ponting has 40 test hundreds. Babar will be lucky to get to 30 tons. Even someone like Sangakkara scored only 38.

Was surprised to see that Babar has scored only 3 FC 100s so far (including the 100 yesterday) and averages 35 in FC cricket (large enough sample of 47 matches including 16 tests). If he does go onto average 45+ and hit 25+ Test 100s, he will have to defy his overall FC stat massively.

His successes in ODIs and T20s are no brainer given his stellar List A and T20 records.

Ye that is understandable but then there are players like Haris Sohail, Fawad Alam with 50+ averages on the same pitches. I do expect Babar to end up with 45+ Test batting average with 25 100s.

As far as test matches are concerned the stats of top batsmen are almost similar compared to 1990s or 2000s.

Lotfy projections after scoring just one century. Even in one dayers he is not really reeling out centuries after centuries. He bashed some low ranked sides 4 centuries against WI, 2 against SL, 1 against Zimboks. He has "accumulation" mentality. He can convert if he is set.

It would depend on how soon he would start coming up at 3rd or 4th position. Because otherwise, anything over 18 will be difficult as only top order batsmen end up with 20+ centuries.

One can only truly make that inference when he's amassed a minimum of 5 centuries as that would give a valid 50:100 conversation ratio and matches:100 ratio as well. He's just scored his first ton so making a judgement call right now would be a kin to rolling the dice.

Although based on his LOI exploits and the way he plays I would be disappointed if he doesn't make a minimum of 15 tons in the next 5-6 years.
