How successful will India be under Virat Kohli's Captaincy?

I think, Indian posters are misunderstanding my post - the topic was "how successful", not "how good". I have no doubt, VK 'll bring a great positive vibe in Indian cricket like Ganguly (Or 40 years back Tiger Pataudi) did, but, in terms of success, I am not so optimistic. He 'll be at per with MS at home (put Shami or Ishant as Captain, I 'll tell the same - IND needs top 11 players & a stable dressing room to smash almost any side at home as long as the Captain, whoever, makes the playing XI on merit), BUT he 'll lose lot more away than MS, if his opening "Blowers" go for 6/over on first morning of a SCG Test or his "spear-tail" goes for 45 in 3 overs on a sluggish SCG wicket in 4th afternoon with 6 men on line. IND, probably 'll lose this Test, though there is a slim chance that they might just win it - MS won't have won it for sure, but his chances of drawing this was much higher than Australia's chance of winning it - one can calculate it in success %.

By the way, early signs are not good - I see Tendulkar syndrome. As Azhar's deputy, SRT was brilliant, expectation was a super computer like Captain with a cyborg like capability, until he was appointed permanently. I see VK moving out of slips (ironically so did SRT), changing bowlers after almost every over, going to bowlers with tips often in every ball (IND probably had the highest number of boundary conceded, after every time SRT 'll talk to Srinath, Prashad...), changing fielding strategy almost after every over......it hasn't affected his batting yet, neither for SRT initially, but.......

Virat Kohli's weak captaincy is letting the current Indian team down

About 1.5 months ago, Kohli left Australian shores with India on new low of folding under 40 runs in last innings of Pink ball test. Everyone thought that this team will miss his batting and a 0-4 loss is awaiting.

But ever since his departure ,what went away was the negativity and mental fatigue of Indians. What started though was Mission Resurrection and it emerged victorious in a country where visitors seldomly taste success.

Now in India, he returns back and thus returns the mediocrity of the Indian team as they got whalloped by a margin of 200+ runs to England team at home. All this talk of greatest home team ever and Asian test team looked good but it seems under Kohli, this Indian team is bound to underachieve.

Time is ripe, he needs to step down from leading in all formats. He needs to relieve his mind and body off pressure , let some one else hold the baton if this team wants to be considered the greatest Indian test team of all time or maybe a strong contender to greatest Asian test team of all time.

Discuss!

If only Rahane could score some runs....

Until he does that, there will be zero pressure on Kohli with the team management backing him 100%.

We are truly stuck between a rock and a hard place. Lol.

Can India afford to play a ‘specialist captain’ especially in the matches at home?

I think we are still fine with Kohli as captain except the team selection part. Not much can be done on rest. The focus should be on how we make our team stronger.

Need to play Kuldeep next test. It is hard to understand why would anyone prefer Shahbaz over Kuldeep. Maybe he wasn't bowling well in nets but in that case, it is a bad sign for India as Jadeja and Axar both are injured.

Wont work.

Not feasible.

Plus fans wont accept a few losses under that captain.

They would want aus 2021 style results everytime.

So we are truly stuck.

If not for Virat (Captaincy) this Indian team would be unbeatable.. Its still very strong but would be almost unbeatable and would have won last CT and 50 over WC.
