I went to my first ever match yesterday without any hard ball training, Nor any match practice. It made me realize how behind I am in real cricket. I only got to field for few overs till they rightfully told me to sit on the bench. I got few areas to improve on but what really worries me is catching a cricket ball. So guys what is the best way to catch one?

btw cricket ball easy to catch than tennis ball.. it'll stick in to hand and a bit bigger than tennis ball..

Yeah well it hurts more on your hand, If you don't catch it properly. I tried to catch a few and it landed on my finger instead of my palm. It hurt like hell. As I was looking up at it I was not able to position my hand properly. So either my technique is wrong or I am not timing my catch properly.

zohaib dear, cricket ball can hurt you very much if you do not catch it with proper technique, you can search on google, there are many good sites,i had this problem too and i collected info from google and now i am improving,i just wanna say that you fear from ball,it will hurt you more and you will face a embracing situation and mother of all, injury, once, ball hit on my index finger nail while in catching practice and it is injured till now after 20 days, and it was due to my bad technique for catching, just keep your eyes on ball and search on google because there you will find articles with pics and it will help alto, http://www.mycricketgame.com/ this is very good site, does not explains too much on catches but it does have other info which you should learn as a beginner, and welcome to proper cricket, btw where you are playing??

First off thanks for the info bro.

Now to answer your question. I play in Michigan. I am not sure of what they are called. I am still new to them. Like when I went to my first game I did not even know the people. I was ment to go to a practice section with them. But the guy hasn't e-mailed me yet.

I have a kit that I brought home from Pakistan, back in 2007. I wanted to get some practice in before going to this practice. But sadly I have no excess to nets. I am still very new to this thing in Michigan. As I go forward I will find out more ways to get my cricket passion going.
