I have never hit a six in any cricket matches that I have played. I am 16 years old and I have hit many fours but I just never seem to hit any sixes. Does anyone have any tips on how to hit sixes?

Instead of trying to absolutely smash the ball you should try to hit the ball with the middle of that bat! Timing is everything!

Watch highlights of Dhoni, look at how he makes a strong base for himself with his feet. Gets the front foot out of the way with his feet apart, and then hits through the line, and most of his sixes go straight, which is where you should aim if you are struggling with this.

Also, first practice trying to pick the length early so you dispatch half volleys and don't go trying to hit every ball that comes your way.

You can try watching Afridi's highlights, but at your own risk. You will end up looking like a complete tool 9/10 times and land a six the other one time.

Sincerely, a professional six hitter :afridi :kakmal

It is all timing. It is not just choosing when to swing, it has to do with when how quickly your body reacts and how quickly you execute your job. If you aren't strong enough, your body will take longer time to react to your signals and you will end up miss timing the shot. Strengthen your legs, forearms, wrists, use your hip when swinging and your body will react much faster to your brain signals. When your body reacts quickly to your signals, you will time the hit.

Whenever you're trying to slog; just when the ball is near try to use your wrist for elevation because when you're applying force from your shoulders and forearms and not using your wrist it is giving force to your shots but not the elevation but if at end the of it you use your wrists; it will give you the desired result! try to get under the ball, bend your knees to the maximum to get under it and then rise with the shot!

i personally like to get into the crane position (as seen in karate kid) just before the ball is bowled when i'm trying to hit 6s. see below.
