For me to sleep i need to stay cold constantly -live in UK,

my bedroom at the top of house, i dont get any wind coming in at all- my window is open 24/7.

My bedding is cotton all over, bun gets hot instantly as i give a lot of body heat. I have a fan - but that doesn't do much.

I aint getting air con as its too expensive.

How do you lot from hot countries stay cool at night

AC or suck it up

Wear just shorts maybe

Its a waste of time to get AC in the UK, for maybe 10 days a year.

Use a cold damp thin towel on your body, works for me every time.

Temporarily set up in one of your downstairs rooms, sitting room etc when you go to bed.

Keep curtains drawn and windows open throughout the day. You need to have whole house in cohesion

Within the home, wear as little as possible.

Get a bottle that sprays and just sit in front of the fan while wet as you spray yourself. When I do wudu, I don't dry then pray infront of a fan

Change up your day. Maybe have a nap during the day to catch up on sleep in someone elses room.

As already mentioned, at the top of the house, you can only accept the heat.

Get this cream from Pakistan and apply it all over your body (except the face). It is a one stop solution to your problem and you will thank me later.

I am living without AC, Air cooler is enough for me :))

I read somewhere suggesting putting socks in the freezer.... sounded disgusting 😨
Might work but I just bought a bigger fan for the 3 or 4 nights of actual heat we get in Scotland. My wife just keeps the fan on constantly so my room constantly feels like a fridge 😂

Can you get a cooling fan from Walmart? We got those over here, it's not a regular fan but throws cool air and its as good as an AC in fact even better since you can direct it towards your body and it's WAY cheaper, maybe you can find a cheap one on Amazon or used ones on ebay, that's my only solution. It's a worthwhile investment, I used it back in college when my roommates would fight over the thermostat - i was like screw it, imma take things in my hands :afridi

Stop being a cheapskate and get an AC.

In Europe and some northern parts of America and Canada, ACs aren't common at all, it's not about being cheap and also you have no idea about someones circumstances and personal finances, I would refrain from name-calling.

Cant sleep downstairs - i need a bed, cant sleep on the floor or sofa.

Get a fan? That's what I do.

I run a fan in my room always.

ive got a fan- it just blows hot air at you, my room wont go below 30 degrees - i dont use the light or any elec items as they generate heat .

Thing is that when i open my window - when fully open it stops the wind coming in as the wind is side wind-hits the open window

An AC will not eat up half your salary. You are in Europe and not in poverty-stricken Pakistan.

Summer here in Toronto can get quite warm (30 to 35 Degrees Celsius). I normally open the window and let the air come in (along with running fan). If that doesn't work, I take off the shirt.

Alternatively, drink an ice cold drink before hitting the bed. You may also take a cold shower.

I realise you have a lot of hate for Pakistan. If you like dislike the country so much, its best to stop wasting your time and commenting.

In America we have central air conditioning, so we use the AC for cooling in the summers and heating in the winter months, I think Europe should get on board. Radiators are outdated. Canada is probably colder than Europe but they got central ac.

i cant do cold showers -thats what i really hate when i visit pakistan
Shave your head?

Moral of the story is that you get a certain result in life sometimes you got to come out of your comfort zone. Spend money on AC, take a cold shower or shave your head. I honestly dont know what-else one can do lol.

a decent fan should be enough, get a metal blade one not the plastic one and place it at the foot of the bed, blast it and the wind over your whole body will keep u cool.

esp wind over your legs, greater surface area to lose heat from. been doing this for 7 or 8 years, perfect for uk summers.

sure not a bad idea if one doesn't mind the smell this cream will leave on the skin, on the clothes, on the bed sheet, on the mattress and on the pillow..

It doesn’t have a strong odor and besides, it has menthol in it. It has a minty fragrance.

Keep your hair short, buy a decent fan and set it up next to your bed; grab a quick cool shower before bedtime, and lay a cold flannel on the back of your neck in bed. Should sort you out nicely.

im near enough bold as it is, i barely grow head hair, every week i cut it to number 1 - its not my head,

i can handle weather heat, just i cant sleep on warm sheets/ pillow - it has to be cold

yeh i have a metal blade fan already from john lewis - it hits my feet on the fastest speed but not chest area- where i need it the most

body hair is short for me- ive bought a flannel from amazon - just waiting for it, may need to bring the fan closer to me -its at opposite of room and it just reaches my feet & may need to have a cold shower before bed

however past 3 days in the UK have been typical in the UK - complete cloud cover- with showers every few hrs - medium strength cold winds - looking at the weeks forecast -- every day is going to be the above

I saw this on another site, but if you live in a place where there's not many mosquitos or annoying bugs, hang a clothesline in front of a window in your room, put up a wet sheet, shirt or whatever on it. When the wind blows it will blow through the shirt and cool the room more. You could also toss your pillow in the freezer, for an hour or so before bed.

Again, I saw the above somewhere else, I'm not sure about the practicality of it.. lol.

I'd put a cold rag on my forehead i guess, and sleep on my side.

Or.. buy a second fan.

Bringing the fan closer is a game changer, just keep it away from your feet. Trust me, I live in a pretty hot and humid area.
