By exposing myself to situations where I have to trust myself or forced to. Practically this was choosing a new hobby, something that’d get me to go a place I wasn’t familiar with or do something I wasn’t familiar with. When presented with something unfamiliar you can frame it as positive or negative, practice on reframing it as a positive, I’m here, I’m learning something new even if I fail at the start.
The other was giving to others. Not necessarily money, but emotions. Asking others at work, class, home how they are and what’s going in their lives, just a simple hi or hello, even meeting someone new. It makes you go out of your own way and cultivate positive emotions to project to the environment around you and gets you out of your own head and that doom and gloom headspace. Takes you out of that me me me frame.
Meditation was helpful too. Prayer as well, but even if you don’t believe in God, meditation is a good practice to be relaxed with your emotions and not fight them because it’s human nature to feel positive and negative emotions at the end of the day, you can’t feel good if you’ve never felt meh at times.
