What's new

How would Fawad Alam's record be if he had been a consistent selection for Pakistan?

He would definitely have been a beast in the UAE. Probably would have had a 45+ average.

He would have been Yoni 2.0 for Pakistan with a UAE test average of 70+ with two triple hundreds and three doubles by now. Outside UAE too he would have been a respectable batsman if not phenomedulkar.

Agree with that he would have outperformed asad for sure
Poor guy could not get a proper chance in his strong format and now again comeback and will play on one of the toughest place to make a comeback

Would have been the best test batsman in the world :don

The Fab 4 argument would have been for who is the 2nd best :ssmith

In UAE would have averaged 60+ and around 30-35 outside Asia in my opinion. Was a far better batsman than Misbah who averaged in the mid 40s, so let's just say 50 at least.

Like most Pakistan batsmen. Performed in UAE and struggled outside of his comfort zone.

It is a shame he wasn't given the backing he deserved at the highest level. Based on his domestic stats he earned the right to be given an extended run to work out his deficiencies against the better bowlers and make the necessary adjustments to his style of batting so he can be successful batsman on the international circuit.

Even with his shortcomings in his batting technique he could have easily fared better than then likes of Shafiq as has a much better temperament and ability to handle pressure than him. His excellent fielding and would have been an asset to the team.

Has Fawad been recalled in Pakistan team?

If he is recalled for the UK tour then that's the worse call back he could have gotten. But on the bright side an opportunity to show the anti-Fawad fans that he can perform on better wickets as well.

I think he would've failed away and wouldve been consistent in the UAE. Shafiq until the past 18 months where he imploded was a much better fit for No.6 whilst there was no way Fawad was getting in ahead of Misbah and Younus in the middle order.

All in all, I don't think PAK have lost much from not playing him.

Fawad would have averaged 50 plus.Pakistan became a looser by not playing him.

I assume it would follow the following pattern:
played..dropped...played...dropped...played..dropped...made captain...dropped/losing captaincy...played..dropped for conspiring against successor captain...played...dropped...retiring as bitter commentator on tv.

Would have Averaged around 45.
50-55 in Asia and around 27-30 outside Asia.

We already had Younis, Misbah and Sarfraz who were good players of spin. I would rather have invested in someone like Haris. World class player of fast bowling and even though he isnt as great playing spin but still would have done well in Asia like he showed in last SL series. Haris got injured in 2015 but before that his talent was wasted for almost 5 years :(

Great record in Asia

Decent abroad

He has guts and tenacity which is why he would be decent abroad despite his joke technique

He would have been probably averaged around 45 , should have been a 25 test Hundreds by the time he hangs his boots.

Ignored again. He's definitely better than some of the rubbish players we've had represent our team in recent years, such as Iftikhar Ahmed

I don’t believe he can play quality fast bowling, trust me, guy would be a sitting duck.

Either he would fail to live up to his FC excellence or deliver the goods and his international record indicates he would've likely done the latter.

He is very much like Younis, scores daddy 100s something which our team severely lacks after YK's retirement and in the very first series without YK, our middle order crumbled against a weak SL team!

But apparently there are better players then Fawad going around! :)))

If the selectors had never selected Javed Miandad, there would probably be less outrage than there is over Alam...

He would have done worse than Shafiq abroad, better at home - net result? inconsequential, if not detrimental, since we've been good at home through this time period I'm considering, woes have been away.

well Miandad wasn't the most prolific domestic batsmen in the country history, Alam is - so I don't get your point

Fact: Fawad is the most prolific batsmen in Pakistan's history
Your opinion: He wouldn't score runs overseas

thanks for stopping by...

Tbh you can never tell by looking at first class stats, look at Mark Ramprakash.
