What's new

"I am fit and ready to take the next step up and play for Pakistan" : Hussain Talat

Time to see him in international cricket. We need a batting allrounder in our team, and we don't have one currently. Fahim and Imad are more bowling allrounders.

Don't see how it'll hurt to give him some international experience now.

I'd play

1. Fakhar
2. Babar
3. Haris
4. Saad Ali
5. Sarfraz
6. Talat
7. Maqsood
8. Shadab
9. Amir
10. Hasan
11. Junaid

And I'd play that line up for both ODIs and T20s. Imad could probably come in for Maqsood if we need the bowling.

Haris is failing miserably in PSL and you want him in your team. Maqsood has also failed so far in this PSL.

(Did you see Haris in NZ)

Agree with Maqsood, once a TTF always a TTF. Time for new blood. Faheem is showing he’s good enough to bat at 7.

Haris makes it into the ODI team. Might as well play him for T20s too, doesn't hurt.

I'm not sure about Maqsood, it's more we need another middle order bat in. Guess you could keep Malik instead. He has been doing better in list A recently, and he's one of the few batsmen in our set up I've seen along with umar who seemed to be able to hit a bit.

I'd rather just play the same team for ODI and T20s at the moment. There's no one bar maybe Haris who seems like a guy who can play tests and ODIs and not T20s. More they play as a team, better they gel, and I'm not too fussed about win/loss in T20s unless it's the T20 world cup.

Yes I saw all matches where he scored snail paced fifties, don't need his type of player in T20, he can stay in ODI if we select 2-3 aggressive batsmen and drop Hafeez and Malik. We already have too many Accumulators in the team, Azhar Amin, Sarfaraz, Babar. Haris shouldn't play below 4 because he doesn't have power game for modern cricket. Talat Faheem, Shadab, Hasan This lower order looks good to go for modern LOIs.

Stop wasting time on Malik,Hafeez,Azhar, and Sarfraz and give this guy a chance.

PSL is a great way to separate the wheat from the chaff. Before the PSL people were raving about new Maqsood and Maqsood 2.0 (yours truly is also guilty of putting him in fantasy future playing elevens)... but all saw nothing has changed Maqsood is still the same.

While Talat showed a glimpse of his talent in the last season and now it is coming to the fore in its full glory. One or two good innings and then even Inzi won't be able to ignore him. Seems like an ideal number 5 or 6 batsman.

What it tells me is that TTFs will forever remain TTFs. No point considering them.

The only one who deserves a few more chances is Umar Amin

Amin has been excellent in the PSL so far.

Talat was very impressive today. I hope he gets selected for national team, he is much better than army of seniors Shezad, Sarfraz, Hafeez, Malik, Azhar, I am sick of them, we need to move on and make a modern batting unit. This guys is handy bowler too. Most seniors has no skills against seamers, we cannot keep on selecting them...

Umer Amin is not international class batsmen much like Shezad, he cannot play seamers with any authority, I would not select him for any team. Only Harris is good enough, but mainly for test, he is not a guy who score at 90+ SR in ODI, T20 is not his cup of team at all. As far as Amin is concern, he does not have technique or temperament to be consider for international team.

Is that why he stroked Amir and Tymal Mills around the park?

Oh he did not, one fluke boundary does not make him the boss of Amir. Amir is still the most difficult bowler to face in power play, 70% of his balls are dot if not more. We have seen what Amin can do in NZ, he looked completely out of place for international cricket, mind you he debut in 2010, he had terrible tour of England and does not seems to have learned much all his life. I don't get why PP has fascination will useless players. People defend here Shezad, Hafeez, Malik, Sarfraz types for years. Pakistanis don't understand much of batting, What good batsman means most people have no idea

#5

Fakhar
Babar
Haris
Sarfraz*+
Talat
Shadab
Imad
Faheem

Hasan
Amir
Junaid

You cannot play four all rounders in one line up. I'd bench Imad (I know you love him and I like his captaincy for KK but unless he improves his batting, he doesn't make it for the XL for Pakistan) and put Farhan on the top with Babar at one down. This way, you have a left-right combo through the order with those who can actually hit a bowler.

I don’t think he can handle the new ball. He should play at 4/5.

I'm fine with that. Imad can play ahead of Talat/Faheem in Asia.

Islamabad United has been providing cricketers to the team. Sharjeel, Shadab, Rumman, now hopefully Talat and possibly Farhan. But Misbah hates youngster beauties and only wants oldies in the team :misbah

Don't be biased lol. If you're gonna give Misbah credit for playing Farhan then give him flak for playing Ifti over him in the first match.

Sharjeel was already in and out of the side before PSL.

Shadab and Rumman we can credit to IU

Hasan and Asghar to PZ

Fakhar to LQ

Nawaz to QG

None so far for KK (although Babar did have a prolific PSL 2 with KK which contributed to his development)

Can't blame Misbah for Ifti chacha, he has been murdering bowlers in domestic and I also had Ifti in my fantasy team for the first match. Clearly after seeing how he went about it, chacha gi was dropped.

Asghar is mediocre so he doesn't count. Nawaz is also mediocre. But either way IU backed Sharjeel and it's what got him a permanent place in the team. I am not a single player fan. I support Pakistan whether the guy is from Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Multan, FATA etc.

What I don't like is people blaming Misbah for everything. Batsmen playing slow, must be Misbah. IU selecting younger players, can't be Misbah. FYI Misbah had a big hand in bringing these guys and even Faheem to the team because he plays for Faisalabad.

I did! I hate chacha Ifti. I don't want that guy Asif Ali playing either because he's pathetic for every time I have seen him bat. But to solely blame Misbah is wrong. What about Dean Jones, Waqar and Tauseef? Are they there for show?

That 6 he hit over extra cover showed his ability and talent. He needs a chance in international cricket. Hope he plays a few more good innings so the revolutionary has no choice but to select Talat.

After winning a low-scoring match for IU with a knock of 48*, Hussain Talat has been rewarded with a demotion in the IU batting order.

Today he's batting below Misbah and Samit :salute

His fault for striking a match-winning innings at a good rate.

Next he will be batting at 10 with Faheem Ashraf at 11 :)

Needs to leave United

If you think about it he had been United’s best batsmen since his psl debut but is still constantly shafted

Others have mentioned it but can we really call it a coincidence that as soon as misbah is back, Talat gets shifted down the order?

I am sorry but it needs to be said and reiterated.

Misbah ul haq is the biggest burden which Pakistani young cricketers have suffered from in last 7 years. I have never seen a captain who has literally no confidence in young players and who is so unwilling to give them a chance.

Under Rumman, talat batted at 4. Is it a surprise that he is batting at 8 today under misbah? Absolutely pathetic and i wish Misbah is not a part of PSL from next year for the sake of young players in Pakistan.

I’ll amend that to biggest burden young batsmen have faced. Unless they conform totally to his way of play (Asad and Azhar) they get shafted. Even Babar was not good enough for misbah. Only batsmen to break this curb was sharjeel.

If Fahkar played under misbah he would be at 6 imo

With young bowlers though misbah’s track record is pretty decent

Looks like a limited overs version of Haris Sohail (pre knee injury). He is not a clean hitter though, which is disappointing, as we badly need batsmen who can hit sixes cleanly on consistent basis.

He hit a 91m six a few mins ago and just smashed another six.

I concur. He has no place in PSL. T20 is a game of youngsters. He is a liability anyways and with this sort of selection and batting line up, he is detrimental to the cause of youngsters.

91m six off Sohail Khan. Not a clean hitter?

Yes, but not effortlessly/cleanly like the likes of Sammy, Gayle, Russell etc. Actually we need batsmen who can hit cleanly like them, in order to match the modern game.

It wasn't hit effortlessly, timing was a bit off. More power involved in it. Not a bad shot, but I want batsmen who can hit sixes effortlessly on consistent basis.
You don't understand anything about hitting

It was clean as a whistle

Trip to specsavers may be required for you

what else? With one leg up in the air , one eye closed and wearing polka dots boxers inside the trousers?

PSL helped me financially: Talat recalls selling bangles on Eid

DUBAI: Islamabad United’s talented young player Hussain Talat shed light on how the Pakistan Super League (PSL) helped him financially, recalling that he used to bangles and firecrackers on the Eid.

In a recent interview, the 22-year-old hard-hitting batsman said, “I used to sell bangles and firecrackers on Eid in front of my shop and also sold threads for flying kites just to keep my livelihood.”

He admitted belonging from a lower-middle-class family who owned a sports shop in Shahdara Town, which is situated in the outskirts of Lahore. Talat shared his obsession to become the next Abdul Razzaq who also hailed from his area.

“I was on my own with a shop in the lower-middle-class part of town. So life hasn’t been so good to me, but I did what I had to do to earn money and never let my passion for cricket go down,” he said.

Talking about domestic culture in the country, he told that it was difficult considering the format, changes in the ball and pitches. Since Talat is playing his second season, he is known as the Islamabad United batsman when he goes back to playing domestic cricket.

“We unfortunately came from a broken system and the only mantra at domestic level is deliberately pushing a player to face hardships … it’s totally wrong.”

Talat is confident to play for the national side and doesn’t want to be known as a short-form specialist only. He hoped, “All I want to is to play for long enough that I become a prominent name in the history of Pakistan cricket.”

He credited the PSL for giving an opportunity to the young talent to develop properly. “It allows us to gauge ourselves about where we stand and makes us compete against the best in the world. We have trained coaches, we have professional people around us, and this is really going well,” he stated.

The unfortunate story of most cricketers in Pakistan. Everytime a new player emerges we hear a similar story of rags to riches.

Looking extremely competent at the moment vs Multan Sultans.

Not a great start for Talat, getting a set Fakhar Zaman run out.

Will be the future of our batting line up. Already a fan on how he goes about his things

Not a good inning but this is his 1st match so lets wait and see

First game but a good debut. Should work on his running though.

If he did not work out then Pakistan will select Ahmed Shehzad again and move Babar back to #3.

Pressure of a debut? Let's see in the next two games. His head was all over the place playing some shots.

most likely that and runnout

it was good to see that he didnt collapse after that though, and his strike rotation was very impressive
