1. The pool of overseas players improve in terms of brand names. Enough of these has beens, players who are on their last legs and cant get a contract in IPL.

2. The Tournament is played at a time when maximum International teams are available to offer big names. This is the third season and it is sad to see a clear lack of current NZ, Australian, South African and English stars T20 stars. I would much rather see 8 Pakistani players in each team and 3 genuine world superstars instead of falsely portraying Afridi, Watson and Shoaib Malik as platinum players.

3. The crowed numbers have to improve! Pakistanis in UAE really have no interest in turning up to the same venue every day to see the same boring bunch of guys. If UAE is the only real solution then they must add Abu Dhabi as a third venue as this is a ground where attendance is not too bad. Ideally the entire tournament should be hosted in Pakistan, otherwise England is the only realistic venue that would improve the tournament.

PSL is dependant on Pakistani economy once your country becomes stable foreign investors will come and your economy will improve.. Which means Pakistanis will have more money to spend which would result in more companies trying to capture your market and invest in PSL through advertisements/sponsorships..

People forget Pakistan is a 200mill population country so it’s the second biggest market after India, India contributes more than Australia/England due to amount of population in India and market cap for companies is easier in India ameirh huge gains compared to Australia or England.. Pakistan can achieve everything India has just needs situation in their country to improve and decent management at PCB.

Even if the above doesn’t happen PSL will still continue to be a decent league just not the biggest..

PSL is dependant on Pakistani economy once your country becomes stable foreign investors will come and your economy will improve.. Which means Pakistanis will have more money to spend which would result in more companies trying to capture your market and invest in PSL through advertisements/sponsorships..

People forget Pakistan is a 200mill population country so it’s the second biggest market after India, India contributes more than Australia/England due to amount of population in India and market cap for companies is easier in India ameirh huge gains compared to Australia or England.. Pakistan can achieve everything India has just needs situation in their country to improve and decent management at PCB.

Even if the above doesn’t happen PSL will still continue to be a decent league just not the biggest..

Psl has the biggest names already and better names than any other tournament bar the ipl.

International schedules are so packed it’s impossible to find a window when none of the teams are playing and everyone is available.

Yes it would be nice to see a glen maxwell or a Ben stokes but we have to look at the benchmark and the overseas pros hands down are better than what cpl or big bash has

I haven’t watched PSL just one match that too not complete match so I can’t judge how good or bad it is.. That one match batting was extremely poor and bowling was equally poor but Ronchi played a great knock but others were poor.. Thatcould have been a one off bad day so I don’t know..

Anyways if what you said is true about quality you need to understand it again comes down to business and economics.. IPL was big because the billionaires invested money and they knew they won’t get return the first year but eventually it will become huge.. So all the billionaires who invested brought in players at massive sums for 6 weeks paying someone 1-4 crore is massive.. Now in IPL the best players go for 10crore+ that’s like 20 crore Pakistani rupees.. I think PSL team owners are not sure whether PSL would ever be big enough to convert into a massive brand that it justifies them overspending on players in initial few years and occur massive losses only for it to become a huge brand and heir losses eventually become huge profits... This again comes down the security situation and economy.. Once that improves You would see PSL owners willing to shell some more money on players to improve the quality and brand value when they know the return after 2-3 seasons would eclipse the initial loss..

I think you are expecting too much from PSL. I am no fan of Najam Sethi and Co, but still i give them credit for what they have achieved. I am fairly happy with PSL, and many I know in Pakistan are. The amount of daily nonsenses we go through, PSL is a breath of fresh air with some entertainment and city riveleries within my family and friends.

Comparision with IPL is wrong at many fronts, we do not have same bargaining chips they hold both with securty perception and big cash. We needed to start somewhere, and I believe it was a good decision to begin with resort to anything that is available within our budget. If things continue to imporve in Pakistan, hopefully within next 3 to 5 years we will be able to change perception in minds of most of the players.

You have to remember forign players have no emotional attachment with India or Pakistan or whatever XYZ league. They are playing for money, if the security perception is similar to what India offers, it will come down to who has bigger bucks to ask for their services.

Bro for the part u mentioned about pakistani in uae.

Let me tell you i also work in uae is so i can give you guys true picture.

Firstly majority of the resident pakistanis even indian are from middle class families with low or medium salary income in uae mostly you can say 2500 dh average salary. Monthly. Mean they get to save less.

Secondly major factor is in uae it is costly and very difficult to have Driving license.. this mean out of 10 only 2-3 person has license. And obviously every person is not live near stadium. Even sharjah stadium is far from main city and also from industrial area where most stays.
And taxi cost more.


So logically you cant blame them for not showing up for every game

Agreed. I dont know how some people can overlook the fact that Multan Sultans which was sold last year got 32 bids and sold at almost double the price than KK or LQ. As people know there is a big market and a much bigger future.

Also people will see much bigger groups for the 7th franchise.
