"I can perform the role of a hitter and finisher for the Pakistan side" : Khushdil Shah

Kpk needs a top of the line high performance center. There are a lot of cricketers coming through that region but most very raw as you would expect.

His biggest problem besides the technical flaw is he doesn't seem mentally very strong.
Chokes up in international cricket.
Very apparent in his play. Seen him get out to full tosses in internationals.

Yep noticed that as well, he looked terrified. Some players just aren't built for the big stage.

Him & Ifti...biggest hacks going

For much longer will they be selected?!

He shouldn't play unless he learns to play well on off side . Cramp him for room and he is bit like a headless chicken

Yes you can only if the role of a hitter/ finisher is redefined from 25 off 15 balls to 15 off 25 balls. Go back to your SP team and enjoy scoring 100(70) against the likes of Anwar Ali, Imran Khan sr, Bilawal Bhatti and Sohail Tanveer on school grounds. You’ve no place in a team like Zimbabwe, let alone Pakistan

The sad thing is that his failure may open the doors for a Malik comeback. We all know Malik is the king of a 20 ball 22, which is just not good enough for modern day cricket.

I can’t believe I am saying this but a 20 ball 22 is better than a 20 ball 12.

With a SR of 120 in domestic t20s he really needs to be batting at 4 to be effective . He’s not a dasher especially at the highest level . Batting at 6 is not doing him any favours at all . However he came with plenty of overs left today and struggled . He needs to work on his game . With more experience I’m sure he can improve . To early to write him of .

Agreed

His performances are in List A

Khushdil has been dropped for this series decider in favour of Asif Ali. With so much competition in the middle order places, I find myself wondering when Khushdil might get another game again. Feels like he's blown his chance

Competition between hacks

Hopefully, this is the last we see of them.

Yet another failure for Khushdil, he falls for 7:

Khushdil Shah, the man who "can perform the role of a hitter and finisher", walks out to the crease for the last over with his team at 186.

He plays 5 balls, scores 6 runs, and Multan finish on 193.

With the benefit of hindsight, could he and should he have done better?

Haider Ali, a natural opener, performed exponentially better in the role than him.

Khushdil is awful Hes got no offiside game and instead of staying balanced snd hitting straight he just looks to hit as hard as he can every ball to the legside

Hes just very predictable n played a very poor innings once again

Before the second innings ever began (no benefit of hindsight), Khusdhil had wasted an excellent opportunity to make 200-210. In fact, the 6(5) runs he scored should really have been 0(3) because a catch was dropped off him. That's honestly embarrassing.

Im sorry to say hes not good enough Set 3 men deep on the legside and im sure he ll oblige

Hes what we call a legside slogger

Exactly This !
Sending him was a big mistake, Afridi should have come in and pushed the score past 200.. this guy is not good enough, maybe to repair an innings he can knock the ball around and rebuild like hussain talat but nothing more.

Braithwaite should have come in before Khushdil

5 overs to go, 6 wickets in hand. This is when your hitter and finisher shows what he can do

Absolute nothing cricketer. Twice now his team ended up with 10 less than runs than it should have because of him.

Since some top knocks in National T20 cup he has been really struggling so far at every level. Needs to do a lot of work to get some reputation back.

One of the single worst “batsmen” I’ve ever seen in my life. How do such hacks get so far in pak cricket

Unbelievably bad cricketer. Seems like there was on a house on the off side on the street he used to play on in tape ball cricket.

6(11) today. Watching this pretender bat should be a form of torture at Guantanamo Bay

Watching him at PSL6 it looks like he needs a couple of overs to get his eye in and can then kick on, but most of the time he doesn't have that luxury. But his range of shots is very limited and that needs working on.

If you want to check how much some one is a proper batsman, check his First Class average. Khushdil Shah has terrible average of 25.78 in FC.

I question the quality of practice and effort these guys put in the off season or time away in the nets away from the team.

Everyone can see he cannot play on the off side at all if his life depends on it and he still hasn't found a solution

I am still not sold on him. It was more of Akif's inexperience and nerves than Khushdil's brilliance.

To be honest it was all in Khushdil's arc. You give Khushdil anything on the leg side and he'll smack you for days. Otherwise a very ordinary player.

Why was this guy crying about his role as a lower order hitter in his interview with Ramiz? The guy was genuinely close to tears. He reckons he is a middle order batsman like Hafeez and Shoaib Malik

Good to see him do well today, but far too many of these guys are 2/10 players, meaning that they perform in 2 out of 10 matches.

His is list A record suggests he can play as a middle order batsman too but the jury is still out on him

He should never play for Pakistan again. It's rarely ever this obvious with a player. Multan should be thinking of dropping him too next season.

A leg side slogger with no range. International cricket, if you are not able to do it against Zimbabwe.. then top 4 team bowlers will eat you alive.

They perform 2 out of 10 matches is because they are leg side hacks and get to have a go at bowling once in 5 matches when bowlers bowl on their favorite side to slog..

PCB selectors and coaches should look at the players how they play then select them.. Proper batsman like Umar Amin, Haris Sohail, Saud Shakeel are kept away from the side , but players like Ifthikar Ahmed, Danish Aziz, Asif Ali, Khusdhil shah and now Azam khan are given free rides in the name of trying a finisher role..

Sad part is even Haider Ali was chosen to play that role when he was a proper top-order batsman who now become a slogger..

Misbah will make every single good batsman a slogger like how he made U.akmal in search of players to play at no.5 and 6.. Any qualified coach would have now progressed with Haider ali to even play test matches, but Misbah has taken him on the verge to be thrown away from the squad and even in PSL Peshawar has dropped him from the 11 for Zazai..

Mohammad Wasim speaking about Iftikhar and Khushdil's selections for ODI series against New Zealand

“Middle-order has remained our concern and, as such, after trying a few options, we have decided to give another run to Iftikhar Ahmed and Khushdil Shah, The two batters have played sufficient 50-over cricket at the domestic level and boast the required firepower to utilise the slog overs. We are optimistic they will come good in home conditions."

Seems like a rotation thing with these middle order batsmen.

Keep picking them and dropping them again and again and hope that they eventually succeed.

Its a circus I mean what are they hoping to achieve by this continuous revolving door series after series?

If you pick players give them enough opportunity and confidence Keep them in the team for 2-3 series Dont drop them after a few games only to bring them back after 3 months

This picking dropping picking dropping is a ludicrous way to find players And shows the selectors have no clue what they are doing

The problem is that generally you can tell with most players whether they have it or not within a few games and we dont play enough to waste a year on a poor player. Then you could argue that the selection needs to be better to avoid poor players being picked and i would agree with that, but some poor players have decent seasons and then if they are not picked, then people get suspicious. The obvious answer is to have a strong domestic scene on good wickets that wont allow terrible players like Butt to put out good stats over a season.

Categorically the worst middle-order batsman we tried. I understand the dearth of talent but please not Khushdil.

Hitter and Finisher has hit 4 sixes in the 167 balls of international cricket he's faced.

What has Pakistan achieved by having a seperate ODI team? Nothing!!!

I say pick the same players for ODIs & T20s. Essentially only pick players who can play both formats.

Kudos to Misbah for bringing back this legend! He will set the stage on fire, for sure, this time round.

I hope the lad proves people wrong, but so far I've not seen anything from him to suggest he is international material.

An average of 21 (inflated by 36* versus Zimbabwe)

A strike-rate of 109

The Usual Story of Khushdil Shah’s Innings

Starts off with a single here and there. Looking to nudge till around 10 balls where he maybe on 11 off 10. Hits one six at cow corner to propel his score to 20 off 13 or 14 balls. Will eventually get out at around the 22-25 runs mark

No harm done, no impact whatsoever. Pointless selection

I hope this thread comes back to bite me hard and we may actually see this man producing knocks of substance at International level in crunch games. But I don’t think he will.

#writeOff

His innings today:

4 4 4 6

18 off 4 balls
strike-rate of 450.00

Brilliant knock.

And the good thing was they were all through the off side on merit

There were no leg side cross the lines slogs as he has done in the past

Won't be able to replicate against good, thinking bowlers. He was feeding off the poor lengths bowled by Rauf without any variation, and bowling to one side of the wicket.

I am a firm believer that he can produce the goods more often than not and even at international believer as long as he gets this thinking out of his head where he feels he needs 10-15 balls to settle in and then get going.

As long as he plays with the mindset of attacking straight away, he will play good

Am shocked that this guy was not given an opportunity to bowl. If he can be a reliable bowler for us in ODI and T-20 cricket, he is a very useful selection then

both him and Nawaz should be playing together as finishers and bowlers for Pakistan. Shadab and Imad need to learn something about hard work from these two.

Very very useful contribution

If Khusdhil can be a reliable bowler for Pakistan in the ODI and T-20 format, then his selection is a big plus as it can compensate for some inconsistency with the bat.

What a revelation Khushdil Shah has been with the ball in PSL7. 9 wickets so far in the tournament. Before this PSL he had only taken 8 wickets in his whole career.

Haven’t been able to catch any live games. What is the key to his success so far. Turning the ball?, right areas? Clever plans/traps? Gifted wickets?

Rizwan as his captain is his key to success. May not perform as well under any other captain.

A bit of everything really.

I think some batters are targeting him as the option to attack, but he's no mug with the ball. A bit of turn, variety and accuracy.

And Rizwan is using him very cleverly.

Khushdil is bowling well.He needs to be more consistent with the bat.He can play as an all rounder if he improves his batting.

He's clearly leap-frogged ahead of Imad and Nawaz for the sla alrounder spot. Would make a great spin duo with Shadab. Our bowling stocks are looking exciting with Hasnain and Rauf proven in Australia, and Shaheen leading the pack

Reminds me of Aamir Sohail's left arm spin which was more than handy!
