Not everyone can bowl the googly. It's something that comes naturally. You need flexible wrists. Regardless, somethings that can improve it are to get your arm as high as possible and a strong follow through in your action. Try to put maximum revs on the ball and really flick that wrist.

The zooter can't be explained in words but it can be learned by everyone. There's a Warne video on youtube explaining how it is bowled. The rest is up to how much you practice.

You don't need a thousand variations to become a good legspinner. What you need is a stock legspinner which you can land on the same spot 9/10 times and a zooter/slider/flipper(a delivery that goes straight on).

The rest of the trick is beating batsman with dip and flight. Vary your lengths slightly, slip in a faster one or flight the ball more and make it dip by putting extra revs to drag the batsman forward. It's as much a mental battle as it is physical.

Alter your field setup just to get the batsman thinking, it doesn't have to change completely. Just move one fielder and open up a gap for the batsman to hit. Analyze the batsman. What are his weak points and strong points, where does he struggle placing the ball, that's where you leave a gap open and force him to play there.

Does he use his feet or is he slow footed and likes to camp on the backfoot. If it's the latter then you can afford to flight the ball more to drag him forward, slowly pull your lengths back as if you've got him on a string.

If he uses his feet well and agile, then you increase your pace slightly and bowl fuller. Vary your lines more instead of your length. If he uses his feet a lot then he will most likely play in front of the wicket so that's where you bowl a wider one or slide one behind as he comes out of the crease. You won't need many fielders behind him so you can afford to pack the field in front him of him.

Batsmen who're both good off the frontfoot and backfoot are elite players of spin. That's when it becomes a mental battle more than a physical one. In that case you stick to consistency and look for a drop in concentration. If he's targeting certain areas then alter your field setups to force him to play somewhere else. It just takes one ball and whoever wins the mental battle will win the game.

i assume this means u are bowling a googly already? all a googly is is u bring ur arm higher up and u change ur wrist so that the back of ur hand faces the batsman. i guess u've learnt it already without knowing what it was. good work. personally i always found it easier to pitch and turn a googly than a leg break.

What's your leg-break like? Does it turn a lot, or does it have more top spin?

If you are able to turn a leg-break miles then I wouldn't waste your time with a googly tbh. Two reasons:

1) It's going to so different from your stock delivery that it's quite easy for the batsman to pick.

2) Bowling too many googlies in the nets carries the risk of affecting your stock delivery because the wrist position is so different.

Nah, I know what he's talking about. It's an off break, it comes out of the front of the hand but instead of going over the ball you kind of cut under it so it almost looks like a leg break to the batsman because the wrist position is the same. You don't get the same revs on it as a normal off break though, because you're only really using one finger to spin the ball.

Two simple things only!

1. Lift your arm up as high as possible for the googly.
2. Make sure that the back of your hand faces the batsman.

That's it!
